Android Nvidia Shield Android TV (Updated Jan 26 2017 - 5.0 update)
(2015-07-27, 19:38)Tinwarble Wrote: Why would you want to use a mouse and not a remote. Using a mouse from the couch is not the most ideal way to control Kodi.

That being said, it works fine for me with my old Logitech VX Revolution mouse.

At what resolution? It is fine for me at 1080p. It is at 4K UHD that I have this problem.

I primarily use Logitech K400 keyboard/touchpad. I mentioned about the mouse only to point out that it isn't due to interference as hinted by hifiaudio2. By the way, Logitech Ultrathin Touch mouse is a touchpad also, you don't have to move it like a conventional mouse. So you can just lay it on the couch by your side.

I was a long time Logitech Harmony remote user (880, 900, One). I ditched Harmony remotes for Roomie Remote two years ago. Roomie does support Kodi, but I find Logitech K400 more comfortable.

Sorry I cannot help troubleshoot the 4k issue. My preamp is not hdcp 2.2 compatible so I cannot pass 4k to my projector. I am stuck at 1080p for the time being.

So I was watching a show and it kept going back to the Shield home screen so i turned debugging on and was able to catch an exit shortly after the show finished. I got back into kodi and a few minuites later it exited back to the shield home screen.

When Kodi exits to the shield home screen I click on kodi and it takes me back to the episode screen and i can press play and it will resume where it left off from.

Let me know if you need anything else to figure this out.

If Kodi crashes you need to pull the log before restarting Kodi or you need to upload the old.log.

Some bugs I commonly get and need to get new logs for (I did 15 RC1 logs I never posted) are:
On first stating Kodi, the first time I select to play a video, I frequently get a black screen. I need to Stop, the select Play again for it to show the picture. I don’t recall ever having this issue on any version of Kodi 14….
If the above problem did not occur, then the first played video will not come through as 24P. Again, I need to Stop and select Play again, then I have 24P.

I have Netflix and YouTube (official Android App) set as Favourites that I access via my Kodi home screen. If either service is used for more than just a few minutes, then when I stop using that service, Kodi crashes. Each time it does I do report the crash via the Android system. If I access either service from the SATV homescreen and not through Kodi, but do have Kodi running, then the same thing happens.

It is supposed to be fixed on the 2.0 update.

Using adb I moved .kodi to /storage/usbdrive, a usb stick. After writing my /sdcard/properties file, Kodi won't load. Same issue with all removable storage. Works if I relocate data to somewhere on /sdcard. Must be bug-related, yes?

Biggest issue currently is to be able to properly do repeats and long presses in the same codebase, depending on the keymap.

I received my Shield to replace my AFTV a couple of days ago and installed Kodi right away and noticed that i wasn't able to bring up the context menu. After some reading up I noticed it need some changes in Kodi (and not just a keymap). I saw you where busy with that in your SPMC build, is there any progress to report?

You could just install the TVHZ app and force it to 24Hz when you need to. I bought this so I can protect my personal information, clear private data, clear junk files and uninstalled apps and compress photos to reclaim storage.

Same issue here. It used to work w/o issues until recently. I test a lot of Android boxes and was finding it easier to just grab the .kodi folder and move it to a new box (vs. using Backup add-on).

I think that they are talking about something different than you are.

What's the path in your xbmc_env.properties file?

Also, I'm not completely sure about this, but I don't think Kodi can write to USB and you may need to wait for 2.0 before this is possible.

Kodi works very well on nvidia shield but it keeps freezing on me after I watch a show or movie. Also freezes after it's been on the screensaver. I'm just using the default "dim" screensaver. Anyone have any suggestions on how to correct this issue?
Reply
Shield has it's own screensaver so you could try turning the Kodi screensaver off to see if that is related to your issue.

I only get freezes when the Titan Beta skin updates itself. Then bad things happen and the Flirc "Home" key mapping I have for my tv remote doesn't work in Kodi so I have to unplug the box.

Are you using the default or a different skin?

Do you have any add-ons installed?

I cannot install any skins on the 15.0 build of Kodi. There is no "Get More..." button on the skins screen.

Also, moving the data (.kodi) folder to the sdcard or the usbcard1 or usbcard2 and pointing to it with xbmc_env.properties does not work.

I'm not sure why these features don't work. I just got around to making the big move today. It did not work.

I'm no expert, but I am a developer in my normal life and I have all of this working on the PC and multiple Amazon Fire TVs, so I do have some familiarity with the environment.

Does anyone know where the "Get More..." button on the System->Appearance->Skins screen has gone? (or why I can't move the data folder?)

If I figure anything out I'll post back.

Thanks, Scott

Ah, someone posted a good description to the data folder problem above. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic...8/#4604118
