[CLOSED] Advanced Launcher - Applications Launcher Addon for XBMC
(2012-12-31, 17:18)DocMAX Wrote: How can i make ContextMenu work with Joystick Button 3? Doesn't work in Adv. Launcher but everywhere else...
That's not Advanced launcher which decide if you can access the program ContextMenu with Joystick Button 3 or not but XBMC itself. Advanced Launcher code do not touch/assign/change anything concernant XBMC keymapping. You tell me that it is working everywhere else.... Does it works also with other program add-ons (not video or music add-ons, really program add-ons)?

(2012-12-31, 18:24)Elixxen Wrote: With that being set up I started looking into regular games like for instance Angry Birds, GTA Vice City and stuff like that. I managed to get the games to launch but the problem is that XBMC still sits on top after they launch. In other words, the launcher fails to bring the game to the front and therefore I have to use my mouse to bring the game to the front. Enabling the full screen option does nothing. Same thing happens except that XBMC goes into window mode when I launch something.

I should mention that I'm running OSX, not Windows. Any ideas of what I'm missing?
I'm not really familiar with OSX system, but Advanced Launcher and XBMC have several option to influence the way application are started and focused from XBMC.

First, you can try to go into the context menu of your launcher ("C" key) > Edit Launcher > Advanced Modification > and change the state of the "Toogle XBMC in Windowed mode" option. Then look if it has an effect on your windows focus or not (normally it as).
I am having issues with adding NES to the latest 1.10.8 (haven't used it prior to this). Everything I access is over a network share without drive letters. Rom Collection Browser seems to work this way, but using Advanced Launcher (i want to give this a try) it just doesn't find anything after I've pointed to the network shares for directories.

Before I go into debug and paste logs, should everything work over a network share without a drive letter?

edit: using drive letters for shares works fine, but i prefer not to have that setup on all of my xbmc stations if possible.

I already tried "Toogle XBMC in Windowed Mode" and it did not help. XBMC is still the focused application and the launched application sits in the background. Really frustrating because I feel like the solution is right under my finger tips. Thanks anyway

Anyone else have an idea?
You should search for some command lines tools for OSX.

For windows there was some code from the user "Harson" on page 430, which used the dos command "nircmd" which puts windows programs to the foreground/background.

You should search something similar for OSX.

No, it should and will not work without a drive letter.

You can also take a look into XBMC video settings. Under Windows you must set XBMC into "Use a fullscreen window" mode rather than "true fullscreen" mode if you want to avoid focus/minimizing windows problem. Under Linux this mode selection is not present (because not needed). But... for MacOSX systems I do not know if this mode selection is present or not.

Otherwise, you will have to use some scripts that will start command line or small applications that will switch the focus between XBMC and the started application.

Thanks, I'll look into that. I doubt I'll find anything though, there's very little support for OSX and I'm not skilled enough to figure these things out on my own lol Smile

There's no such option in XBMC on mac. I can only choose Fullscreen #1 and Windowed

Are you sure to have well defined Playstation 2 as the platform of your launcher?
Which versions of XBMC and Advanced Launcher are you using?

Ok... not really a good news. So... you will need to create a script to force XBMC to minimize and to maximize your application.

Yup it really sucks. I cannot believe this hasn't been brought up before Tongue I can't be the only one trying AL on OSX. Oh well, like I said I'm not skilled enough to create scripts and things like that so I'll give up for now. Will have to stick with my ROMs for now.

Indeed, platform was wrong...
XBMC: 12 RC2, AL: 1.10.8

To be honest it will be more easy for you to create a launcher than trying to install fake information on your system. You just have create fake console game files (named for ex : mario bros.zip, zelda.zip) then create a file launcher pointing to a fake application (any executable you want), indicate the fake console game files directory. Then setup scrapers... then scan for new items. It take less than 5 min to do this. Look at this youtube tutorial : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDjA68OY0wM

Ok, Thanks - I've now changed some views in latest github commit. Still having problems with ListItem.date /ListItem.premiered as the dates are not showing - Should be in Main Title on top of screen. Also ListItem.thumbnailImage is giving me problems, so I've let it fallback to ListItem.Icon to get a thumbnail.

I'm reasonably happy with the results, but you guys using Advanced Launcher can give some feedback Smile Development repo should be updated during the week.

I did some searching and have turned up a blank. What is the best way to name multi-disc games so that they stack properly? It seems that "GameName [Disc x]" does not stack properly, as it would if it were a movie. Angelscry - I saw some discussion way back on this but didn't see any definitive followup.

Basic multidisc naming convention used by Advanced Launcher is : GameName cdx or GameName-cdx or GameName.cdx or GameName_cdx. For example if your have :

Code:
Final Fantasy VII-cd1.iso
Final Fantasy VII-cd2.iso
Final Fantasy VII-cd3.iso

They will be displayed as a single Final Fantasy VII entry and listed like :

Code:
Disc 1
Disc 2
Disc 3

Information between [] is automatically ignored by advanced launcher. So for example :

Code:
Gran Turismo 2 [SLUS-00748] cd1.iso
Gran Turismo 2 [SLUS-00749] cd2.iso

They will be displayed as a single Gran Turismo 2 entry and listed like :

Code:
Disc 1
Disc 2

You can also put a label one Disc name that will be listed by using {}. So for example :

Code:
Resident Evil 2 {Claire's}[SLUS-00748].cd2.iso
Resident Evil 2 {Leon's}[SLUS-00748].cd1.iso

They will be displayed as a single Resident Evil 2 entry and listed like :

Code:
Claire's Disc
Leon's Disc

Here is were was posted the information (but lost due to the high number of posts) : http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1119085

@Angelscry: I've created a German translation for Advanced Launcher 1.10.8 and submitted it at Google Code. You can find it here: http://code.google.com/p/xbmc-advanced-l...tail?id=20

If wanted I will maintain it in future. My native language is German so I tried to make it correct from grammatical point of view and keep the textual content precise. Of course I would like to see it integrated in one of the next Advanced Launcher releases or committed into trunk tree. Smile
