The H8 as been out at least a month or two so they have had time to work on the firmware. Zidoo only have there first units turning up with customers now, give them a chance to make some updates.

Tool-Auto-Mount need only in little case, SMB without password work very well .
Net shared folder is problem for all android box,android app usually work only with local file, so not all kernel android box support mount command like q5.

the true is Android os(for box tv) need a tool to mount net shared folder.

On the VidOn box and Zidoo X6, you can add your password protected drives within Kodi without no issue.
Never have success using your method to mount password protected Network share drives.

PS: I was able mount my Windows server password protected share drives on Realtek M-195 with mount script and it work.

Why not just use SMB? Q5 can stream even the highest bitrate BD rips wired. There's no need to password-protect network shares for wired in your home, and for wireless, as long as your wi-fi password is strong, no worries I'd think.

Actually, I have a MXIII-G android tv box, based on a amlogic s812 A9 and 2Gb RAM. It works perfectly with last kodi version and dts passthrought sound is OK, but I'm looking for a player 3d capable. Amlogic can use smb shared folders (user-password protected) from kodi right. It's not a generic android flaw.

With Windows Servers 2012 it is required to have it password protected.
No issue adding my share drives in SMB kodi on the VidOn box or the Zidoo X6.


Himedia Q5 will allow you to add the share drive in Kodi and the 2D video plays fine,but once you install the Himediawrapper to play 3D the video playback get stuck on loading.

looun, here are the tests you suggested I do. Love that my new Epson 5025 shows detailed video info. on what it's receiving...

Firmwares v1.0.9.1 and v3.0.1.1 yield exactly the same results:

• 29.97 displays at 60.00
  
• 59.94 displays at 60.00
  
• 59.97 displays at 60.00
  
• VC-1 23.976 displays at proper 23.97 (Tested '3:10 to Yuma'; LPCM 7.1 passes properly to AVR, unlike Zidoo X6 passing 2.0)
  
• H.264 23.976 (majority of BD rips) displays at 24.00 (not ideal, but I've never noticed microstutters or frame drops every 40-some seconds with Q5)
  
• VC-1 29.97 displays at 60.00; stutters, with frame drops & has deinterlacing artifacts (jaggies)
  
• MPEG2 1080i displays at 60.00; plays excellent
  
• MPEG2 720p displays at 60.00; plays excellent
  

The issue is H.264 23.976 playing at 24.00. Odd, as VC-1 23.976 plays properly at 23.97. I don't have MPEG2 23.976 to try.

For VC-1 29.97 (1080i), only box that plays this type well for me is Chromebox.

I'm a little disappointed with HiMedia Q5 performance; may have to lower score to A- or B+. Quick tests really don't reveal big issues sometimes. Finally had time last night to watch a whole movie (3D ISO of 'Terminator Genisys'). Had around 15-20 random audio dropouts (when I went back to those scenes later, couldn't replicate), plus noticed microstutters several times (likely due to 23.976 displayed at 24.000).

The audio dropouts (I have an Onkyo NR636) especially spoiled the movie experience.

Personally i think the Himedia Q5 should be B-

1-Using external player doesn't consider to be a True Kodi experience
2-SMB setting in Kodi doesn't work unless you use a script
