[OLD/CLOSED] PseudoTV Live - Set-Top box solution

(2014-09-11, 16:55)Zacharybinx34 Wrote: Sorry if this is a noob question, it probably is. But under XBMC's regular LIVE TV I have my channels working perfectly from NextPVR, but PseudoTV Live won't grab them.
Do I have to try to learn how XMLTV works to get the channels in? XMLTV is a bit beyond my expertise. I tried using Media Portal for my Digital OTA stations, but I couldn't figure out the EPG stuff. NextPVR grabs it automatically so I'm sticking with that.

Use mc2xml to grab the XMLTV data. This guide is a little old but the gist of it is still relevant.(i skipped step2) Then it also shows you how to work that with NPVR.
http://mc2xml.hosterbox.net/#npvr

Contrary to the guide there is no command line needed. I literally just copy/pasted the info for the UpdateEPG.bat and then the mc2xml.exe had a GUI interface that I used to input my info. NPVR has a gui to adjust the update interval also.

then also use this guide but instead of using mediaportal, just edit the channels in NPVR
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1585495

In NPVR you would click on channels, then edit the channel details, change the source to the newly created xmltv file that mc2xml created. Then you match the channel with the channel ID from the xmltv.

The names must match exactly, I also learned that after I renamed the channels 1 time, if i renamed them again, and even edited the XMLTV file that PTVL would not pull the info.

So if it scans and the channel is WCVE-HD make sure that in the XMLTV file that the channel id is also WCVE-HD, mine was initially called 3-WCVWDT. And you only do this for the one channel_id line.

Since the names can be wonky use rabbitears.info to match the channels. If you are using an antennae that is, just match the frequency and and id.

Finally you must point PTVL to the xmltv file in the PTVL settings. Then auto-tune that bitch up.

Thanks for the help, but I have spent way too much time, hours and hours, trying to figure this stuff out. A mix of outdated guides with vague instructions have left me at a complete loss.

Is there any guides for total dummies out there that literally hand hold you through the process?

I tried the step 3 and I get the following error.
mc2xml error tcp 124363R 124658H

Edit: fixed that error, was my firewall.

Edit 2: Nope, still not working, the error is back.

No, your not... it was a warning...

Users need to remember this isn't magic, Without the proper information I can't help you Smile
Nothing worse then users saying something doesn't work, with no info and no logs.

You were having a problem with super favs right? can I ask three questions, nothing new... want to clear the air.

1. Are you running development branch latest code?
2. Did you check with and apply all changes made to the setting2 config for super favs?
3. Are you running the latest super favs?

I'll give you a quote here in case you are blocked.

All other chtypes I'm getting to run perfectly but I use the standard code and add this one, fire up XBMC and it doesn't register. All PlayOn channels are working fine straight through XBMC and the source is registered and named correctly. The log file I developed is at http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=290673.

Maybe it's just my computer but that log file is only 11 lines and is all gibberish characters.

nope, can confirm that its gibberish. luna has him super blocked.

LOL, No super block (I wish!)

Yeah log is garbage... not even sure it's the XBMC.log to begin with...

BTW if you wonder why I'm so pissy... I get the rudes PM's from users who do nothing but complain about the plugin, and threaten not to use it anymore (as if I care)... The tone of the PM's are always the same, some entitlement that I have to help them... never a thank you or even a hello! It's honestly the worst part of development! Always starts my day off in a negative mood!

Try not to let that crap get to you. You're doing an awesome job on an awesome add-on. People should appreciate that. This is also one of the most active add-on threads on here. A lot of devs only answer questions every few days or weeks (which is still fair in my opinion) whereas you are on here answering about 20 questions every day it seems.
Thank you for not blocking me, At first I didnt know how to send a log but i do now. i have your latest script for Pseudo tv live and the latest for Super favourite, i think: Its 1.0.18 and configure the setting2.xml for super favourites, i copy the super fav code and added to settings.xml. One question if you dont mind me asking is when you add more channels to pseudo, do you add code seperate or add all in one? I really do appreciate your help because your software is a kickass to use once i figured it out. Thank you

Super favs works fine in the latest development build... so if it's not working its either your configuration or the plugin you have linked in super fav's doesn't work (not all plugins will work).

Read the first three posts over again... super fav's configurations has changed within the last two weeks...

Also you can only edit setting2.xml when PTVL isn't running, won't work if you edit while running...

Why are you manually adding channels anyway? there is a super fav's autotune feature which will find all your folders. As long as you followed the instructions in post 2...

Hey luna,
Unicode in playlist still doesnt work,
Live tv still stuck for me,

I wanted to ask you again to consider making the updates a choice in the settings , i know that you enabled the option to choose "no" but i prefer that the plugin will load without user interference so at least put a timer on the update question with default on "no".
I would have loved to go back to a previous version when the playlist have worked...
My kids want to kill me...

Thanks as always...
How in the world did any of you get OTA EPG working in the US... this is a nightmare... =/

I use PLTV from the early stages and I had many many unicode issues, but step by step all fixed.I am sure Lunatixz will fix that too...
Hey guys, first post.

My XBMC is rock solid with tv shows, movies, music videos, home movies and iTunes Library. Running Gotham 13.2. As of late I have moved to 'live tv', and first tackled the OTA part, using a HDHomeRun (not prime) and NextPVR. Could not believe how easy it was and it too, is rock solid. Just loving it. Then, I added **** (with a subscription) and USTVNow (with login, but not subscription) and was watching both with their addon. Then I discovered the "new" ****** in the **** repo, and it works great.

But then, I found PseudoTV Live and I realized this was the center of the wheel. This is where is all got bogged down. Like another poster said, trying to weed through old instructions, assumptions, and shortcuts I am at a loss to get running anything that I want. I can autotune some stuff in, but not what I am trying to do. For example, if NextPVR works fine, why can't I just add that to PTVL? it is already configured with TV Guide via SchedulesDirect. Should I not be able to "autotune PVR" and have that work?

Don't get me wrong, my tone is (I hope) one of appreciation! Also, I have been trying to build my own cheat sheet that tells me all the _type" value="x" possibilities and all the parameters for each. I know the grand design is to not need to edit settings2 however to make it the *exact* way I want it I wish to do it via settings2.

Finally, some up-to-date examples of good, working settings2 files would be very much appreciated.

You guys are the best!
@BigOldBoy - one page behind your post : http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1792157

I would edit your post as the other guide and repo you mention are against forum policy due to piracy and you will find no support here for that type of add-on.

See this is where I'm baffled...

I update the first three posts everytime there is a change... So please point out my assumptions and old not working configuration examples?

rofl, so I got it working... sort of.

I am US using OTA digital antenna.

I setup C:/EPG to include the MC2XML.EXE file and then went to C:/users/public/NPVR/scripts and made the Update.EPG.bat which included:

C:
cd "C:\EPG"
mc2xml

When I run the script I get the following error.
mc2xml error tcp 124363R 124658H

However, when I open NextPVR and grab EPG data from there, my C:/EPG folder gets populated with a xmltv.xml file that has all my local stations. I then direct XBTV's PseudoTVLive to that file and all imports fine.

So then I figured out that the script above has to have the .EXE on mc2xml for it to work. When i do that, I get no "mc2xml error tcp 124363R 124658H" error, and command prompt informs me "No New Data is Available."

So now i will need to wait and run it in a few days and see if it finds new data.

The only other issue, is figuring out how to make that script run every few days on it's own.

Thanks for all the help so far everyone. Just crazy how one tiny thing throws the hole thing off. =)

I got the EPG working in XBMC but wasn't able to get it working in PTVL. Don't have the patience to continue it though, not yet. Tongue

Manually editing settings2.xml is definitely the way to go right now. Keep reading and re-reading the first three posts. There is a ton of info there and I notice something new every time I read them. I had a lot of trouble at first but I'm slowly starting to get this working.

Also if you go to the community list link on the main page and browse there are some settings in there for links, etc. They are not in settings2.xml format but they are a start. A separate thread for sharing actual settings2.xml configurations would definitely be awesome though, and likely more easily accessible than the community list.
