Release Kodi Android build with support for Dolby Vision MKV
I got Just Player working, the issue is NFS, it does not work.  I mounted the Synology NAS at the Shield level and then navigated to the video using Kodi and played it with Just Player.
Kodi: Shield Pro 2019
Storage: Synology DS2415+, DS1815+
HT: LG 65C9 OLED, Pioneer VSX-LX503
Speakers: ProAc Super Towers/front, ProAc EBT's/rear, Polk S35/center, SVS PB-2000 Subwoofer

It does not.

I don't have time to keep any of the projects going anymore (mkv and bluray menu).

It might be a good idea to remove the thread from stick and let Jogal or someone else to take on what is already present and improve on it.
I can help if there's any questions but that's about it.
That's a real shame, I was hoping for one last Dolby Vision build with these fixes so we had the 'perfect' Kodi.

Thanks for all the past support though.

 I created this XML file:
<playercorefactory>
    <players>
        <player name="Just Player" type="ExternalPlayer" audio="false" video="true">
            <filename>com.brouken.player</filename>
            <args>--fullscreen "{1}"</args>
            <hidexbmc>true</hidexbmc>
            <playcountminimumtime>40</playcountminimumtime>
        </player>
    </players>
    <rules action="prepend">
        <rule video="true" player="dvdplayer">
            <rule filename=".*DV.*|.*DoVi.*|.*Dolby Vision.*" player="Just Player"/>
        </rule>
    </rules>
</playercorefactory>

I placed it in the userdata folder.  When I play a DV file I see the following messages:
External player active
Click "OK" when playback has ended

Nothing happens.  I also rebooted my Shield.

You need to be using one of the builds in the first post not Kodi v19.3 as that doesn't support DV.

I'm wondering if someone can help me out.

I'm trying to activate Dolby Vision using my Shield (2019) on my Panasonic GZ2000 and so far am having no luck. I tend to have all my media stored on my Synology NAS and have tried connecting my NAS via NFS and SMB. Has anyone got any suggestions suggestions as to what else I might need to do?

What version of Kodi are you using?

I believe its Matrix 19 Final - The build I'm using is the one in the first post (https://github.com/fandangos/Kodi-HDR-Ed...arch64.apk)

And what's the problem exactly?

My impression was that Dolby Vison would be activated on any MKV that has the Dolby Vision metadata as soon as you press play. What is happening with me is that any file, which has Dolby Vision metadata just seems to fall back on HDR10 and I can't figure out why.

Are there any setting we need to play about it anywhere on Kodi or the Shield to get this to work?

Other than updating FFmpeg, there is not much missing in Kodi 20 for Dolby Vision in MKV support.
At the moment, some devices even work fine with current nightlies, see https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/19099#...-968299491.

It would be nice to have the FFmpeg patches in before 5.0 is frozen, but I am not comfortable hurrying reviewers for it.
At the moment, the Matroska patch needs to be reviewed again, but the rest seems to be approved.

Is this project dead? ... just as I'm able to take advantage of DV? Sad

The build in the starting post is kind of dead, however there are current DVs builds in a German Kodi Forum that also include the recent True-HD/Atmos fixes. I am using this build on a SHIELD 2019 Pro: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/0n37s3j3iybww...jZ48a?dl=0 (the one in the root). If you want more information just search for "kodinerds" in the threads here.

Thanks... I see it now.

does the kodi nerds 'build' do passtrough with you  ?
im using the latest version of kodi nerds Nexus 20 and DV does play perfectly, but the audio passtrough does not only PCM on my Denon receiver.
I tried every setting i could find....  with the ' old ' kodi 19 final fandango build everything  does works.

Which kodinerds version is the most appropriate for CCGTV?  Master?  Matrix?  I tried the master, I think, and it will start playing DV MKV just fine but then stops about 15sec in and won't continue to play.  It is acting like a slow source hangup but I can play the DV mkv through Plex with no issues at all.  Plex just doesn't give the TrueHD output.

The Kodi19 DV 32bits is triggering dolby vision mkv on Sony xh9096. Thanks. Smile
