Thanks for this new image to the openelec team!
I read that component video is still not available for AppleTv1... Is it the same for composite (video through the yellow pin only)?

Thanks a lot,
looking forward to trying openelec!

Thanks for the update! I love how easy it is to update to the new version Smile

I did find a few problems.

1. 24 (23.976) fps support is not available. I can only pick 50+60 for my Apple TV 1 with Crystal HD. I tried to follow this guide but neither path worked; http://openelec.tv/forum/12-guides-tips-...hz-support.

Examining log;

[1861583.495] (II) LoadModule: "nvidia"
[1861583.495] (WW) Warning, couldn't open module nvidia
[1861583.495] (II) UnloadModule: "nvidia"
[1861583.495] (EE) Failed to load module "nvidia" (module does not exist, 0)
[1861583.495] (EE) No drivers available.

I would like an Apple TV specific guide if native support for 24 cannot be added in Openelec image.

2. Another problem happened when I tried to turn on VSYNC in XBMC. Image started flashing. I managed to change it to only VSYNC when playing video and that didn't blink in the GUI nor when the video played.
Video played at 50 fps and wasn't smooth as it was supposed to be 24.

I've just ordered another Apple TV just for Openelec. I will make a donation for sure when image works with 24 fps

Thanks

What a great distro, i only have couple or small annoyances:

- Is Openelec able to join hidden wlan networks?
- After suspend it takes awhile for the wlan to become available
- Not very smooth skin navigation, disabling fanart helps. I'm gonne test if disabling ddsfanarts helps
Reply
Yeah. Best distro ever.
1. You can check option (Addon/Settings openelec) for seeing hidden wlan networks.
2. Wifi is a weak part of any linux (frankly speaking because of drivers makers).
3. Well, dunno what doest it mean "smooth skin navigation".

1. There's no such option in my installation (0.99.3, 64-bit ION build). I had to turn on the ssid broadcasting to be able to connect
2. I agree to a point, but the stick i use has been idiotproof in XBMC Live. But i do realise that since Openelec has to support so many hardware combinations every piece of hardware can't be guaranteed to work as well as it can. It might be related to connman.
3. Whenever switching from one fanart picture to another, the menu animation becomes juddery. This happens both in main menu and library movie views etc.

1. May be im wrong and/or i dont know something about it. But i dont think these versions vary so much. Didi U ask on openelec forum or irc channel?
2. In my case my wifi stick connected out of box as far as it stopped connecting without any reason. Or it seems without any reason.
3. Only issue i see is a bit delay between one fanart and second. Or its just a remote lag.

Hough!

I just installed this on a flash drive and the menus seem to lag (from install no fanart, tried simplicity skin also). I hope that it is only my flash drive (trying a different one soon).

About 2, you could place a feature request on the forum so the correct drivers will be installed and it will also be idiotproof in OpenELEC Wink

If you want to help us even more, post the LSMOD and DMESG logs out of Live with this request and make it easier to find the correct drivers for you Wink

If I install openelec on ssd, am I then Able to update xbmc itself just like with an xbmc live install? Would it be bets to wait for openelec final or could I install rc3 and update to 10.1?

Hi,

It is not possible to update XBMC inside OpenELEC, but the next RC4 will come soon which include 10.1. Updating of OpenELEC can be done automatically for you, if the automatic updates are enabled inside the configuration addon. It doesn't care if you installed it on an USB, a HDD or a SSD, all will work the same.

Install it on a flash drive, plug in and turn on the power. If you want to install it on the internal hard drive go to their web site. There is a detailed explanation. I would first try the usb flash drive. It's very fast. Quite impressive with the Crystal HD card.
