[OLD/CLOSED] PseudoTV Live - Set-Top box solution
What's the word on a fix for Isengard?
Image
it would be great if we could set runtime value for all chan types... i know we should build nfo for that but this could help with some tv series channels
Updated to Isengard for the new FTV skin that Hitcher just released, and it broke my PTVL [PENSIVE FACE]

Well the issue is, even if multiple people experience laggy epg, they could be having completely different problems. There are a lot of potential problems that could be causing a laggy epg. If you post a log, perhaps someone can figure out what exactly your problem is

Truth of the matter is... I can't find all the bugs by myself! If I personally experience a bug, I fix it... I also spend a lot of time tweaking and fixing bugs unique to a users setup and eventually PTVL will share a universal performance between users... but the simple truth is every ones rig is different, every users media configuration, type, source differ... making logs an essential part of helping PTVL grow!

Want something more stable, with better performance... without all the bells and whistles? run PseudoTV Lite

I should also remind users, I run three instances of PTVL in my home 24/7... The EPG's run smooth, no lag... except for the occasional slow down when Kodi or another plugin is running in the background.

Users like krave are the scourge of the development community... sure they don't mind using the free software, and freely running their mouth about issues... but when it comes to actually helping, they come up with excuses and expect others to do the work for them!

Coming from the guy bitching at users over in the original PseudoTV forum because they don't want to use your unstable program?

You've done good but any good developer knows the bugs are most important. Implementing DVR functionality and creating new EPG enhancements when your current build (and builds over the past 6 months) will not even function and with a bunch of bugs in both this forum and the other forum doesn't exactly seem very smart to put your priority on these things. Eventually people are going to be sick also when they realize how you can't even be testing the program yourself. I was trying to help design for your software and contribute to testing, but it seems redundant because hell, even using a custom skin gets replaced every weekly update and comes jammed pack full of new bugs that make it even more unstable. Seriously, do you really use your own software? Because on the past 100 pages (for months) all I see is people complaining over the same problems.

The funny thing is even with posting issues and all the many questions I've asked here (because lets face until just now there has been almost absolutely zero information on what can be done on PTVL), the only response I ever got was by bringing up how you're not as smart as you think you are... Smile

Good luck lil dude Smile

PS: I hope I didn't ruin that precious little ego of yours, was just providing some good feedback Wink

Seriously dude, exactly what good feedback have you actually provided, apart from spouting your mouth off and ranting lots? That will achieve absolutely nothing here.
Making blanket statements that current and past builds of PTVL are full of bugs without providing any detail or logs of the problems you are experiencing is just plain daft. or maybe you feel it's reasonable that developers should also have some kind of telepathic ability to identify individual user issues, on top of everything else they do here for free?
Your main problem seems to stem from your own personal expectation of where YOU want to see this addon, without taking on board for one moment that this is not a final build of PTVL and will be prone to bugs from time to time. On checking the bugs thread for PTVL, I can see you have not actually posted a single item there, with any details of the issues you are currently experiencing. All very well complaining, but if you are not willing to contribute to this project in a positive way by helping the developer with detailed logs of your issues, then how the hell do you ever expect them to be resolved?
Luna is just one guy driving this project forward, spending many hundreds of hours developing PTVL to where it today, but to suggest he doesn't actually test or use his own software, is frankly just crazy talk and quite a deluded statement to make.
Personally speaking, I would say that current builds of PTVL are more stable than they have ever been and it works perfectly for my 200+ channel line-up without any particular issue and I look forward to any future EPG and DRV development with gratitude.
Don't bother wasting anymore of your energy in responding to me, as I wont reply. Anyway, I'm guessing that probably both the PseudoTV Live project or this particular forum has a place for you or your feedback in the future.
Didn't know you were blowing him Wink Sorry to have hit a nerve little buddy Sad

EDIT: I am aware that Lunatixz knows about and is doing what he can about the Youtube situation, already having been on record that the new API will require a rewrite. Has anyone done a postmortem while we wait for that of what is now broken and what can be used still along with options on how to temporarily replace some of what is now gone?

For instance is the Pseudo Theater part of what is broken? I am able to see the IMAX videos, a trailer, then a Welcome to our Theater video before I get a youtube message about invalid parameters--was that in relation to the trailers or some other video or was that in place of the movie that would run previously?

Is there a list somewhere of plugins that are still working and good to go?

I've gotten rid of most of the youtube listed options in autotune but most of the RSS feeds are failing for me too--were these also Youtube dependant?

Anything that used Youtube is broken in PLTV for now. A temporary replacement would be to download the videos from Youtube and create a channel so PLTV can read the videos off your hard drive.

If you want something to shuffle Youtube videos in a playlist, then you can do that in with Bromix's Youtube plugin. Only drawback is that a playlist has to be made, and there's no PLTV epg function.

The RSS feeds didn't use Youtube though (I assume). They grab videos that were directly from the site they came from. Maybe the site or RSS went down?

That much I understand, I'm just not entirely clear on what is sourced from youtube and what is not.

That's possible, but more likely (based on past experience) is that I'm doing something wrong somewhere. I'll have to see if I can re-read the documentation again when I get some more time. Right now they keep asking me to work over time and since Memorial Day is an unpaid day I have a hard time saying no...

Downloading off youtube would work to an extent but not really practical for me right now as my disk is full. Thanks though for the reply.

Ah right. Assuming it's the default stuff PLTV uses, it's all Youtube. You can see what it's pointing to in the settings.xml file, but according to mine, the trailers are coming from the Youtube channel called "MovieclipsCOMINGSOON". The commercials are from a Youtube playlist as well.

Maybe. Could be a simple typo. Tongue

I don't really use the RSS feeds since I felt they took a bit long to scan sometimes and some of them have Youtube channels.
Its been a while since I have posted and altogether used PTVL, but I'm trying to get back into the game. After having some issues with Aeon MQ5 skin with the new helix update, PSTL got let behind as I was troubleshooting those issues. Now that I have the newest Aeon MQ5 Helix mod skin running and a slew of new TV shows and movies I thought it was time to get back to using PTVL. I have figured out most of the issues since updating but one still escapes me, not mention it was an issues I was having before I took a leave of absence from PTVL. The problem I keep having is my remote control. It works perfectly with Kodi, but for some reason when in PTVL the DVD menu button does not work to bring up the OSD controls. I have tried MRC remote addon and keymap editor addon but neither fix the issues I am having in PTVL. When just watching a movie or TV show in Kodi the OSD controls come up just fine, but not in PTVL. Is there a guide out there to fix this, has anyone else had this issue and fixed, is there a guide to fixing it in the Kodi keymap or does anyone have any idea what the issue might be like a setting I need to change or something I need to copy and paste in to coding of PTVL? I have no idea what to do and I am at the point of pulling out my hair cause I cant fix this issue. Please help..
I'm trying to set up channel sharing to distribute video to my Android boxes from my MySQL server. I have everything configured, but path substitution doesnt seem to allow me to share my sources.xml and playlist folder. My sources.xml is already an exact replica of my server's, so I don't see why I should be need to path substitute it. If I copied all of my playlists to each of my boxes, would channel sharing work that way?

All I have to say is wow! Thanks Luna! Great update. Am loving the new features. I play with is add-on everyday to tweak to my liking and it keeps surprising me and gets me excited every time. Thanks again!

It seems channel configurator is smaller (shrunk). Just wondering if it's suppose to be that way or if there's a problem on my end.
Quote:Added EPG/Overlay Artwork multi-threading, this should improve performance. Artwork is disable until channel building is finished only when background building is enabled.
Current build no longer needs the "Artwork Spooler" all artwork is queued/downloaded on demand. [Experimental]

This is the major update! No lag,epg runs like formula 1!
Great workSmile
