Use capital U as in -U not lowercase u when using zap2xml for it to output an UTF-8 xml file

Gotcha. I copy/pasted from Luna's first post in this thread which has a lowercase u. He should probably fix that.

YouTube streams still don't work for me though that's another issue on its own. Will try to get a log tonight. Most channels from YouTube don't play giving a script failed error or they play the same video 24/7 or simply don't load into PTVL at all. YouTube playlists don't work or show up at all in PTVL.

Ya I'm with you, my Youtube channels all stopped showing up just recently

Sadness Sad I respect his decision, but it'll be lonely without the boss around.
Man, he needs thicker skin

And a better donation code method. Most of the altercations seemed to stem from people who donated but didn't get their code/confirmation for over a week.
If you're having trouble creating plugin channels, add the directory to your favorites and when building a channel, choose Kodi Favs as your source. Works for me.

And for Youtube, be sure that the channel ID matches 100%. If the ID is 100ABCD, your ID can't say 100ABCd.

I'm not sure how to do it in other browsers, but in Chrome, go the page and/or Youtube playlist that you want to add as a channel, right click a blank area of the screen, and click "view page source". When the source opens, search for this string "data-channel-external-id=" and you'll have your channel ID. I added "Honest Trailers" and "Everything Wrong With" using this method. Took a little longer, but it works.
Perfect addon !!!

I can't get either working at all. XMLTV improper format.
Going to uninstall and reinstall and start from scratch.

Grow thicker skin? The man has pretty much created a complete set top box solution that can integrate cable TV.

His work is worth way more than the donations he has probably got. Someone getting pissy because they don't get a code for 7 days after donating $5 is ridiculous.

It is real shame this place ran off one of the best developers I have ever seen in regards to kodi.

Pretty much this. I was trying to donate to him again, but Google Wallet was bugging out. I don't blame him one bit for peacing out. If people bothered to read and do a few searches, they'd wouldn't even "need" to donate. I donated, because I genuinely like PTVL. Sure, I wish it were more stable, but I understand why it's not. I code in C+ and HTML and something as small as a hanging space can ruin an entire spread. I'm not too sure if Python is any different, but I'd imagine that it's just as big of a headache when your code has to work on 5 different operating systems and account for machines as weak as a 900hz CPU core with 512MB of DDR3L. You have to write individual resource code for each platform, then break that down in categories of machine strength. That's easily 40 different phases of coding just for something as simple as queuing playlists. He catches a lot of flack for work that 99/100 users couldn't do if their lives depended on it.
Pseudo Tv Live:
Started at 8:15 pm last night 9-25-15

1 Full window says this:

Initializing: Pseudo TV Live

Has been like this since last night now 8:24 am 9-26-15

I couldn't find any info on how long this can take to Initialize.

Thanks Lunatixz for all the work so far!

Here are some pics of my custom skin I use right now(hackingTongue the default skin)

Wow, that is EXACTLY the skin I would use on my PLTV!Big Grin. I can't wait for the custom skin option to come back.

@tromy, any chance of you sharing your skin 'hack'? I've modded some of the default skin also but it's nowhere near as nice as what you produce. Big Grin I actually really like your 'Simply" skin that was compatible with the previous, skinnable PTVL's.
I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Lunatixz for all the hard work he has done with this add-on. It has really paid off because IMHO it's running smoother than ever. As some before me have mentioned, many of these problems that users are having can be resolved by searching the forums before posting complaints. Also, try and have some freakin patience about donor codes, the man also has a life beyond PTVL. I may not be a 'donor' at this moment but you can bet your ass I will be in the near future. Cool
Lunatixz has done an amazing job with this program, so I wanted to start out by saying thanking him for all the hard work.

I'm trying to create as close to a normal TV station setup as possible, without having to manually schedule all of the shows. I've created channels with different shows in them, and set those channels to random. The problem is, it randomizes all the episodes of all the shows and so shows with a small amount of episodes (25-50) rarely appear and are dominated by shows with tons of episodes (200-300). Is there anyway to randomize by show, then have PTVL pull an episode from that show (either in order if its an episodic show, or random if it doesn't matter for that show)? I've tried to do this with interleaving but it doesn't seem to create a random pattern, but maybe I'm doing it wrong.

Has anyone tried to do anything similar?
I have not used PTVL in a long time. Wanted to set it up again to play around with the new updates. Just installed and have been trying to activate Donor options. The screen is a bit different then it used to be. I entered my email and password and I have the Community lists verified "True". Below that I entered my donor UsernameTongueassword but it is still reading "False" and I cannot access the donor benefits. I have double checked to make sure I have entered the correct info. I have even copied and pasted directly from donation PM Luna sent me. Has this changed? Do I need to donate again? Or am I just doing something wrong?

UPDATE: I did find in twitter that the donors stuff would be offline but if im reading the tweet correctly it should be back up on this new update.

I love PTVL! I definitely understand Luna's frustration, and as someone that has had a tough time finding an answer, I think I understand the user's perspective as well...

There are 685 pages of comments/etc for various versions of PTVL...

We should consider helping Luna sort through this thread, and create a forum system on another site (i don't want to volunteer Luna's site, even though I think that would be best). I think if the forums were sorted a little better, SOME users may stop asking repeat questions...

I'd be up for doing some heavy lifting on this... I think that we'd need someone else to help sort through messages, skin a BB softwawre, and we'd need Luna's blessing, and I think we would be good to go...

What are everyone eles's thoughts?

A troubleshooting faq sticked to the front page should suffice.

A properly maintained wiki could also be helpful. Especially if it included xmltv instructions as that is one of the most frequently asked questions that I have come across.
