Release CinemaVision: Create a Movie Theater Experience at Home

It would be good if it actually shows dts-hd and the audio is dts-hd too but then i dont have much files
What if the movie has 2 audio tracks? say dts and dts-hd, what will cinemavision pick then? the best one?

With the default settings, Audio Format Bumpers look at the Feature Presentation to see what format the audio is in, and plays an appropriate bumper that matches that format. If your Feature Presentation has Dolby TrueHD audio, a Dolby TrueHD bumper will be played, for example. CinemaVision doesn't decide which track to use, Kodi does. CinemaVision looks at what Kodi picked as the active track and uses that as the active format.

We needed to cap daily downloads for Cast Members for a few reasons. The first being that if we left it uncapped, we would be using a ridiculous amount of bandwidth to serve files to all of our users. The second is to give the folks supporting CinemaVision priority. The per day limit was chosen over a per week or per month limit to keep people with free accounts (who could very well be download bots) from bulk downloading content and eating through bandwidth quickly. It's all a balancing act, really. We also limited the speed at which Cast Member accounts can download files for those same reasons. All of those restrictions are removed for the folks supporting CinemaVision.

Yes i know that, but for ex
the video bumpers for dts-hd, the actual bumper sometimes show a dts text on screen, but the actual sound format truly is dts-hd
othertime the bumper shows a "dts-hd" text but the format is dts
And third time it shows dts-hd on screen and the format is dts-hd played (this way it should always be, know what i mean?

like for ex your dts-hd file in download section has a file sfx short 7.1 hd 1080, but when i open it with mediainfo it says the file is only dts
so should this be then un der dts and not dts-hd, although the movie shows a dts-hd logo

I see what you're saying. So when we created the Audio Format Bumpers that we host on the website, all we cared about was their audio track. Little did we know that MP4 limited that audio track and our videos for 7.1 formats were actually being encoded in 5.1 instead. That's fixed as of yesterday. I uploaded all new Audio Format Bumpers to the website.

As far as what's shown on screen during the video, we don't look at that. We look at the audio that's encoded on the video, and upload it to that category. A video with a DTS-HD Master Audio track might say DTS in the video even though it has a DTS-HD Master Audio track. That's just the way that the manufacturer put the videos out. They often encode the same video with several different audio tracks, and it's not just the one you see text for in the video. Look at the DTS Living World of Audio videos, for example. Those exist in multiple formats, but are the same video. If you don't want to use those videos, just change the extension of that video to .exclude and CinemaVision will ignore that video.

I messed with it last night and it works much like a Pi. There are bugs to work out but this is a HUGE step forward in 3D playback with Kodi (on Intel GPU) and will make life for many users even better. If your dev hasn't been following along as this all seems to have popped up over the past week I suggest he keep an eye on it and you as well. It works with the MVC MKV headers I described earlier as well making them even more useful.

Good call, Dave. I'll loop in our developer so he's got a heads up.

(2016-03-02, 17:54)Dave the Minion Wrote: Also, for round 2 of development I'm not sure if you are planning to add more default CV sub-folders to the root but if so I have the following suggestions;

Commercials
Cartoons Intro
Cartoons Outro
3D Glasses On
3D Glasses Off/Return
Now Showing Trailers Intro
Now Showing Trailers Outro

If these become defaults to CV they'll benefit from the 3D tagging and detection like the current defaults have. I'm sure there are others to suggest that I'm forgetting at the moment.

Commercials will be added with support for TV, I believe. We might be able to add them sooner and leave out the TV functionality. Cartoons and 3D Glasses I like a lot. Trailers I'm going to have to discuss with our developer. If we add that, I think it makes sense to change what's there currently to Coming Soon Trailers Intro/Outro and I'm not sure of the impact there to everyone (all 450,000 of you) using the current add-on.

(2016-03-02, 18:07)Frini Wrote: Hello,
I have started using CinemaVision in my home cinema and up to now everything is working good.
But I have one problem. Hope that you can help me.

I am also having stub-files like Conan.bluray.disc in KODI. Everytime I start a queue with Cinemavision and this is stub file, the it gets interrupted.

I want to use CinemaVision for sending via Action-File a command to my home automation for powering on and opening my BluRayPlayer. While the Player gets started I want to see like a normal queue some trailers. After finishing the intro stuff my home automation should switch my AVR to the BluRayPlayer input. But this will not really work

Is it possible to safe a standard queue for stub-files just like for 2D or 3D?

Sorry for my English. I hope you understand what I mean with stub-files. In my film library I have some ripped films and some filmes only with a dummy-file (stub). These films are stored in a shelf.

I'm not sure we ever even tested using stub files... I guess it never occurred to us. Are you using it successfully with other stub files? If so, post up a log of you running your Sequence with one of the working stub files, and then Conan. That will make it easier for us to spot the difference.

Does your BD player have any kind of API that we can manipulate? What's the make/model? I'll ask the same questions in regards to your AVR. If both your BD player and AVR have APIs that CinemaVision can talk to that includes waking the BD player, opening the tray of that BD player, and switching inputs on your AVR, everything you're asking is possible.

I'm not sure how Kodi identifies stub files, but I'll ask our developer. If we can identify it as a stub file, I'm sure we could set it up with a default Sequence just like 2D, 3D, and eventually TV. I'll let you know when I have more information. Great suggestion! Big Grin

Hi,
thanks for your reply.
I use a Action-file with an http command for connection my home automation called FHEM. In FHEM my AVR, BluRayPlayer is connected with a Harmony Hub. So I only need the http-command for sending signals to FHEM and so to the AVR and BluRayPlayer.

I mean following with stub-files Media-Stubs The Conan movie was only an example to show you how the file-format looks like.
Yesterday I get it work with a trick. I changed in the CinemaVision the 3D trigger to .disc. So when a stub-file was selected CinemaVision thought it was a 3D Movie. It would be gread when you can insert another category to the 2D and 3D, where you can also change the triggers like the 3D category.

Once again, sorry for my English. I tried to explain it as good as I can.

I haven't find out, how I can take a look into the log-file from CinemaVision. I am searching.

Thx for clearing that out Scott.
Other question
I tagged my 3d movies with ".3D" this works for flags and labels in kodi
But it doesnt with cinemavision?
My 3d sequence doesnt start, the 2d does instead, so this means cinemavision doesnt recognize the tag?

Other thing:
Video bumper like the M&M file.. (miscellanous)
Where do i put this? Its more like a commercial than any other thing in video bumpers
Can i create an extra folder "Commercial" and put it there and point to it?

Yeah im gonna exclude them
For ex Dolby digital -> The file conductor, says at the end "Welcome to dolby atmos".
You might think you listen to dolby atmos then, but its actually only dd 5.1

In the CV configuration you can set any tags you like for CV to treat a movie as 3D and run the 3D sequence.

Yes. Make a custom video module for a directory and point to that directory. It won't give you the option of 2D or 3D however FYI.

You can put them anywhere and create a new video module...

The only thing it's missing for me is being able to set different sources for slide. I'd like to do a sequence that only uses "family" trivia and another to use "the rest" Other than than I think it's a great tool that can be set up to work for about any combination. You can add and subtract and rearrange all you want. We have our set up to play animated shorts before movies on our family movie nights. My son love Alamo Drafthouse so we recreate it at home. It's usually random shorts but for big events (such as sleepovers) I will taylor all the pre show entertainment. CV is a family favorite in my house.

I'm going to talk to the developer about how to handle stub files and see about adding a sequence specific to them. He might have a better idea, because we also have to account for someone running multiple features with one stub file and one video file back to back. What we might do instead is allow you to use filename tags as conditional statements in the Commands Module. That way you could set the command module to do something like:

Code:
If feature filename tag exists: .disc.
Then
Execute Action Module, then Feature Module
Else
Skip Action Module, and Feature Module
End If

This would work the same way we look at the feature queue to handle multiple features in the default Sequences.

The way Kodi does 3D tagging is explained in this guide on the CinemaVision website. Once you change your filename tags, make sure you update your content both in Kodi and CinemaVision so that it pulls in the renamed media.

I would suggest creating a new directory and putting the M&M files there. We don't limit you on what you can create. We are also working on being able to scrape in the custom directories you've added to give you all the ability to create new Video Bumper Types just by adding a directory.

I don't disagree that the way it's set up can be confusing, but I don't want to limit what people can download in what format. There might be someone out there that wants a specific video encoded in a specific format, and we have to accommodate that. Big Grin

That's coming, soon. You'll be able to select a directory for each Trivia Module in your Sequence. If none is specified, it will use the root Trivia Slides directory. Really glad you and your family are enjoying it!

That's great news. And yes we do enjoy it and I will continue making slides as time and inspiration permits.

Hi guys,

BTW: Very nice addon!
I'm having a problem with using cinema vision with video though UPNP....CV do the sequence but the movie won't start and I have a very good connection (Wired)
Can you help me.

Thanks

Great addon, but the site has download restrictions. Any way to lift those? I'm willing to donate/subscribe or whatever is needed.

edit: NVM: Found it in the store.

Keep up the good work, @japes! This particular feature is a bit of a big redesign, so it's taking us a bit to get it in. Rest assured, it's coming.

Hey, thanks! We've worked pretty hard on it with a ton of support from folks like you!

Video via UPNP? Can you elaborate a bit on what you're doing, and how your Kodi is set up? Are you trying to program a remote to use CinemaVision or something along those lines?

Thanks so much!

We've just pushed out a new version with some bug fixes to the Kodi repository. Look for version 1.0.10 soon!

Would be cool if you could adjust your guides.
Code:

should be
