I am still having this strange issue of Iphone App not finding the XBMC server.
Running latest version of App and new version of XBMC
It worked for a short time. I thought it was the network settings in the router, because it briefly worked on a different network. Now it's not working on either network, so don't think it's router related.
On Iphone, Add host - find - doesn't find anything anymore.
My configuration;
XBMC version 11.0 Compiled Apr 24 2012
Ubuntu 12.04 - Linux 3.5.0-23-Generic
Official XBMC Remote v1.1.6

I will try that..
Also, I noticed in XBMC - System- System Info
it showes my Primary DNS : 127.0.0.1
How do I change that in XBMC ? Do I need to?

Hi
A feature that would have been greate to have is (if it is possible): Two button's (or something in lower right corner) that (1) starts xmbc on the computer (provided the computer is running) and (2) shutdown xbmc.
I'm not talking about starting or shutdown the computer it self, just xbmc.
Shutingdown already exists but going through menu etc for that is cumbersome. Starting xbmc is (perhaps harder), dont know if the ios-app can communicate with xbmc-helper always running on my mac to send a command to start xbmc.
What do you think? Good features or are they just rubbish?
Regards
Henric

1 has been asked for before and is not likely to happen. It is not a trivial task. The app is written to work with XBMC, if XBMC isn't running then there is nothing to communicate with. As you stated it would need to work with another application which complicates things quite a bit.

Alright, I even manually added IP, Mac , Port manually into IOS Remote App. Doesn't find it.
Im using Ubuntu, my Network settings seem to be alright in the Host OS, BUT IN XBMC IT SHOWS 127.0.0.1
How do I change the XBMC PRIMARY DNS ?
Also, could someone tell me how I would check if firewall is active and settings in Ubuntu?
Thanks

You don't change the DNS in XBMC. Have you inadvertently turned on the HTTP proxy? Check Settings\System\Internet Access.

HTTP Proxy is not enabled in XBMC System\Settings\Network\Internet Access
Don't understand why it's stuck with 127.0.0.1 in XBMC. Has to be a file somewhere with that config.

I don't use Ubuntu, but I don't know of a single setting in XBMC for changing the DNS server.

Great app on the iphone that I really haven't had any problems with. A request though, it would be great if support for the Livestreams add-on or playlist access could be added from the home screen. The goal here is to have a list of streaming channels with thumbs, etc. in a format similar to Movies or TV Shows that would allow one push to change the stream channel like a TV remote. I can almost get there by creating a .m3u playlist containing the streams, queuing it to play and then accessing it from 'what's playing" on the remote. Bit of a hassle and not nearly as sexy as the remote (thumbs, etc.)

This may be a ridiculous question but where is the settings menu for this app? How do I get to settings on the ipad? On android there's a context menu but I can't find a button on this app. Thanks
