Automatic WakeOnLan upon accessing MySql or FileShares
lol. No worries, is somewhat irksome, but everything works as expected. I'm just a bit too OCD for my own good. Wink

Any news on an actual raspbmc build that has this patch included? ;-)

Anyone? Huh

Probably after it makes it to mainline xbmc, i asked on github yesterday which did not go down very well so it is just whenever it is ready for now.

Have you asked on the raspbmc forums?

Maybe I am a bit to blame that it lingers, I have expressed concerns about stability since I have issues with my openelec installation (only when waking from resume). Has anybody else had problems when resuming? (My impression is that it is OK on windows but if anybody has made linux-tests it would be good to know either way)
For all I know, my issues may be openelec specific, there is a bunch of patches applied to openelec so it differs from standard xbmc in a few ways

It has been running on my main htpc in the livingroom which is xbmcbuntu without any major issues. It goes for days and days resuming / suspending without being rebooted.

Excellent, thanks!

And does the same for me on windows. It's nice that it no longer brings up the windows when the server is already running now as well Wink

All,

This had not mattered to me in the past, but since I have purchased a Pivos Xios and run Linux XBMC with MySQL ... well, having Wake-On-LAN able to integrate into advancedsettings.xml has become important to me.

Having read through the 31 pages, I have a couple of questions...

Has this yet been mainlined? (my guess is no)

If not, is it possible to just add the lines into advancedsettings.xml manually?

I'm really challenged, as my old ways of doing wake-on-lan (Windows Startup bat, Apple wake-on-lan Ap, Advanced-Wake-on-LAN Add-in) just won't work in Linux with MySQL.

I could use some help here, please.

The advancedsettings.xml file isn't used anymore. There is a separate wakeonlan.xml file that gets generated when WOA is enabled in the settings. You need a build of XBMC with this patch applied.

Kricker,

Thanks for the response.

I'll bring this to Davilla's attention and see if he can integrate the patch into the Xios Linux build.

Is there a screenshot of what the WOA settings screen?

Not really. It is only one setting in the power savings menu. You either turn on WOA or turn it off.

Cool... where do you add the MAC address / IP address and/or server name ?

Do you manually modify the wakeonlan.xml ?

All this stuff is autodetected from your sources and via network magic ... Wink
