[CLOSED] Advanced Launcher - Applications Launcher Addon for XBMC
(2013-03-04, 11:18)bakito Wrote: hey angel thx for the update!!!
glad to see that trailer is now supported but which skin does support it? right know I'm using xperience and their is no advance launcher support ( yet ) but I'd like to test this new option!
cheers
The only skin that support all the Advanced Launcher features (even version 1.13.0) is actually the GIT version of Cirrus Extended v3.

(2013-03-04, 08:35)streets ahead Wrote: Hello,

I am wondering if anybody can help me with an issue launching MAME with advanced launcher.

I am running Frodo on Windows 7. I placed everything in a MAME folder in the root of the C drive for ease of access.

From windows MAME works great. I configured the .ini file. When I click on MAME64.exe everything works just as it should.

But I cannot get it to launch with Advanced Launcher. After setting it up when I attempt to launch MAME I see a quick flash of what looks like a command prompt window and that is it. It just stays in XBMC. I even minimized XBMC to see if MAME had launched behind the the windowed XBMC. But it didn't.

I checked the argument and everything from the WIKI and everything seems to be correct.

Any help is appreciated.
Could you post here, using pastebin service, the content of your xbmc/userdata/addon_data/plugin.program.advanced.launcher/launchers.xml file?
Thx I ll try that!
Cheers

Every time i try and launch an application i get a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error

"Runtime Error!

Program: C:|Program Files\XBMC|XBMC.exe

The Application has requested the Runtime to Terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

and then XBMC crashes...

Can you Please help me?

Thanks for this great addon ^^

Before it I loaded xbmc and hyperspin, both pretty resource intense... now I can do with just 1 Wink

Have an issue though...

I succesfully added nestopia and Zsnes, both load, and load roms, but then, in a time frame of 2-5 seconds after loading, they autoclose and go back to XBMC... logically, that's implayable Wink

Why could be happening and how can I fix it?

Also, there's a way for xbmc to close when the launched app opens, and reopen when it's closed? _i would need those resources for PSX emulation Wink

Have you activated the "Use a fullscreen window" rather than "true fullscreen" option that is present into XBMC system settings? This kind of error message is often due to the fact that XBMC into "true fullscreen" and the started application cannot share the same system ressources and that make XBMC crach.

Launchers.xml path seems correct, so the problem maybe elsewhere. Now check list Wink :
  • Do you have a mame.ini file into the C:\Mame folder?
  • Do you have indicated where are located you roms folder into mame.ini file?
  • Do you have also installed the bios roms necessary to start certain games into the roms folder?
  • Finally, why have you installed Mame at C:\ and not into C:\Program Files\ as it is normally recommanded to do? Because I'm not sure that XBMC (and Advanced Launcher) can freely access/read/write the C:\ root dir.

When ZSNES autoclose, do you make any action? Could it be possible that your gamepad or controller had a button mapped to an action that make ZSNES close? Could be also a problem of stability with ZSNES (wrong video mode, etc...). Does it happen with other emulator or only with ZSNES?

To try to found what really happen, you can make a quick troubeshooting by starting XBMC from a cmd windows (you start cmd.exe then launcher XBMC from it). Then start ZSNES from Advanced Launcher. If there is an error with ZSNES, an error message will be displayed into the cmd window.

To open/close XBMC you just have to create/use a small.bat script that will do it. You will found such script example here : http://www.gwenael.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=6.
There is also a similar script that just suspend/restore XBMC : http://www.gwenael.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=5

Yes, I have created and configured the mame.ini file. Also, all ROMS run as I am able to run mame64.exe from windows. It is just that I am unable to launch mame64.exe from XBMC using advanced launcher.

I will try installing MAME into "Program Files" to see if that helps

Thank-you.

OK. after much trial and error I seem to have figured it out. I just changed the arguments to "%rom%" and removed the -initpath.

I don't know why that worked. It was just dumb luck on my part.

Thanks.

Maybe the command line to use a specific inipath with MAME have changed. Normaly, if you start MAME without specify it, MAME should load the mame.ini file from its installation directory. But, some time it was happening that MAME was trying to load this file directly from the XBMC installation directory. In this last case it is necessary to specify where is located the mame.ini file (so using -inipath argument). But... it seems that it is not acually your case. Wink
hello guys, It tried to find answer here but didn't so I ask.

when I launch explorer.exe via advanced launcher with no argument, it opens win desktop but also window with "Libraries". Is there any way to have win desktop open only? I don't want to open any window just win desktop. I'm trying to start my HTPC straight into XBMC without loading explorer or metro gui but have the option to easy switch to desktop.

Thank you for help

I have just make a try this on my Windows 8 system :
  • If Explorer.exe is not running and that you start it from Advanced Launcher (as standalone launcher without any argument), the Win desktop is displayed as expected.
  • If Explorer.exe is already running and that you start it from Advanced Launcher (as standalone launcher without any argument), that the Libraries window which is diplayed.
So, I think that Explorer.exe process is already running on your system when you want to launch it.
How are you starting Explorer.exe exactly (directly explorer.exe, from a .bat script, form a .lnk shortcut)?
Ok... i have given up on my Win8 install after driver/Mobo issues...

However Advanced Launcher is still not working.

Now when i create and use a launcher my system is busy for a moment and then nothing happens except the creation of a crashlog in my userdat file.

Can you Please help me?

Advanced Launcher 1.13
