Intel NUC - Ivy Bridge (3rd Generation CPU)
It should bitstream.

You should be able to bitstream HD audio using HD4000 iGPU. If your AVR have CEC option enabled, you can disable it for now. You can disable other audio output other than Intel HDMI audio output in control panel too......

I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

Tried that also...time to switch AVR ?

Try to Change in XBMC audio setting from DirectSound to WASAPI.
Reply
WASAPI = check
AVR HDMI-CEC = switched off
AVR ARC = switched off

Running out of things to test, will try with another machine with external GPU tomorrow...

If the idea above still don't work, it must be your AVR or HDMI cable......

Have you try another HDMI port on AVR or another HDMI cable?

Can the NUC be cold booted on using a USB ir receiver?

Bit in dilemma which one to go with, Celeron or i3? Totally as an HTPC media center and obviously with xbmc.
And just want to boot as Greddy mentioned. Are there any possibilities?
Or this is the only option?

If you want to play 10bit stuff or do video encoding in hardware get the i3. If you just need a kick ass XBMC player get celeron.

Thanks for the info. How about powering ON and OFF using IR remote?
OR just have to go with Smart power strip?

I owns two Onkyo AVR, and it works great with my Intel/AMD/Nvidia HTP's. This "Onkyo TX-NR515 7.2-Channel Network A/V Receiver" should do the job.....

I haven't gotten that far, but I'm using openELEC, and I don't know if that's possible yet. It's pretty easy to make windows wake and sleep on my desktop PC with IR remote.

Btw is it good idea to use this power strip with TV as master and NUC as slave?
