THIS IS INCREDIBLE.

THANK YOU (sorry for spam but this is AMAZING). Android really needed this. It works much better than software decode. There's a slight... frame or 2 hitch every 10-15s, but its hardly noticable (it doesn't show up as a dropped frame).

Now to figure out how to get passthrough working...

Videos from http://www.auby.no/files/video_tests/ in top/down order

xbmc-20130403-6200f76-Gotham_alpha2_stagefright-armeabi-v7a.apk

Results:

01. doesn't play - crashes the app - debug log here: http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=13005
02. plays with low framerate, between 9-10 fps
03. Only audio - no Video - stopping the video crashes XBMC | debug log 2+3 here: http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=13009
04. plays fine, around 30 fps
05. plays fine, 24 fps stable
06. stutters a bit, between 22-25 fps
07. starts playing, but crashes XBMC after a few seconds | debug log 4-7 here: http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=13012
08. plays fine - 30 fps
09. plays fine - 30 fps
10. starts playing, but crashes XBMC after a few seconds | debug log 8-10 here: http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=13013
This was the result with the original Onda-Firmware
Meanwhile, I modded the Archos Platinum 97 HD Firmware a little bit, to run on my Onda...and:
Now, all Videos play fine at full frame rate, no crashes, no stuttering.
Except No.2 which plays only with 10 FPS
Great work!
I can unzip the file but im confused it don't have apk inside and after unzip what do I do it doesn't install anythingHuhHuhHuhHuh?
Can ouya switch refresh rate to match source video? E.g 24hz. If not now, doable in the future?

Furthermore, I have issues with master.

I will build a new version from master as soon as I get it working again Wink

Hi Koying,

Thanks for the update.
Just a quick question, did the "new" (not very new, the last one) Libstagefright release by herman, have any difference for the XBMC?

thanks!!
Hi all I am new here. I have installed the newest version on my Ouya but i have a few issues. If i play any HD video I cant scan ahead at all. I also can only wait anywhere between 35-45 mins before the video stops and either goes back to the XBMC menu or just plays the next file in my directory. Also when I play .mts files it plays the file but its vertically grainy. Any insight at all.

Thanks.

How are you connected? I have a hard time scanning ahead on alot of videos as well connected through smb but usb scans fine. I get the 30-45 min issue as well I wish they would map a stop button the only alternative is to hold down the power button and relaunch xbmc.

I am connected via 1 gig network.

Make sure you are not making the same mistake I did. When I first got my ouya I connected it with wifi while I did adb push and things. When I went to play videos I plugged it into my gig network thinking it would switch over to ethernet. I could not figure out why I did not get smooth playback. I had to manually go turn off wireless on the ouya settings for it then to pick up the ethernet connection.

Hi,

To report :
I received my ouya yesterday, installed alpha 2, but i cant acces the virtual keyboard to write the password for my smb share in xbmc, even if it displays.
Do you know if someone have tried this build with the tv plugins (tvheadend, vdr...) ?

thanks,

Bibi

Had this problem too. You can use the touchpad on the controller to control the mouse however and enter the password/path that way.
Just enable settings->system->input devices-> "remote control sends keyboard presses"
Ouya, running the latest Ouya firmware and XBMC alpha 2. Plays my 20GB 1080p DTS-MA rip of the Matrix as smooth as silk. Have seen it crash once (potentially lost network connectivity), whilst ffwd and rwd remain flakey.
