CCM - Confluence Customizable Mod
(2013-07-03, 09:54)jmh2002 Wrote: I seem to have come across a small issue since upgrading to the latest version of the skin.

My 'Recently Added' TV Shows won't play from the Recently Added Widget. I dont get any error msg, instead the pop up box showing 'opening stream' is just displayed endlessly.

However if I try to play the item from the Recently Added List (or from the Library) it works per normal.
Movies also work per normal from the Recently Added Widget, so the problem only seems to be with TV Shows.

Any thoughts about this Mudislander?

been checking this & can't reproduce, they all play fine, but my TVShows are on a local disk & not streamed. Also try disabling/enabling "Recent Items" in script.skin.widgets as this will toggle the MOD in using the original XBMC recent items or the script recent items & their different play commands.

Thanks for the reply.

I tried it, but I still don't have a widget on my home screen. Not a big deal, love the skin.

We'll try get it sorted. Just to check, your "Kids Movies" is a playlist and added to the home screen as a "Video Playlist" and have content when opened ?

Do any of the supplied "Preset Movie Playlists" come up with the widget when added into the home menu ?

I toggled OFF Recent Items in the Skin Widgets AddOn and now it seems to work and items play correctly from the Home Screen Widget (using I assume the standard xbmc functionality)

However, I think this problem is new since the latest skin update - are you sure there were not any changes to how this widget is implemented?

And as I mentioned, it's odd that this problem only affects the TV Shows widget, but not the Movie widget. Both are pointing to .strm files in this particular case.

I'll have to backtrack on commits, actually think previous versions didn't use the skin.widgets script for Recent items which I changed after users commented that Watched/Unwatched setting made no difference. Do you use any other skins where it's working with .strm files

I don't use any other skins, only your modded Confluence versions (from Eden) & now Frodo Wink

I rolled all the way back to 1.1.3 and I can now agree with you. My recollection that it was working was in fact an illusion, because although I had the Skin Widget Recent Items enabled, it seems it wasn't doing anything and XBMC was instead using its default functionality (which works, ie: play direct from widget)

With these extra details I double checked everything:
- updated again to 1.1.6
- enabled Skin.Widget and selected all 3 Recent Item options
- checked that Home Screen Widget is in fact using the Skin.Widget for both TVShows & Movies
(confirmed yes, because watched items are not displayed on the Home Screen Widget)

- Play works for Movies from the Home Screen Recent Items Widget
- Play DOES NOT work for TVShows from the Home Screen Recent Items Widget
(in both cases I'm using .strm files, which do play from the Library view)

I guess something must be different between the Home Screen Movie Widget & TV Show Widget / Recent items code?

Okay, I'll check the code again, but we may have to refer this one to Martijn

Yes, that's correct.

I don't have any widgets show up. I only have three menu items, "Movies", "Kid's Movies", and "TV Shows". The first two are Playlist (Video), and "TV Shows" is the regular one that was already there.

I tried adding different Widget Set items to each, but nothing shows up on the main menu. Am I supposed to install an outside script or something?

I'm on ATV2, just in case that's an issue.

Thanks.

i think the way most people do this is have a smart playlist setup for each section you want ie kids, comedy etc.

that way you can then just go into the skin settings and set a home menu item to show each video playlist you have setup.

You need to have "Playlist Widget script" enabled

Image

Then the widget choice if item is a playlist should include the item "Playlists"

is this happening so far ?

Could you show how to do that please mate I'm kind of a noob lol

somethings like: videos - files - playlists - create new playlist

then just faff about with the settings of your new playlist for example you might want to set a kids playlist up by adding a rule where Genre Is family

and another rule saying to include movies where genre is children.

that's about it. i know it sounds strange to use playlists, but when you have that playlist on your homescreen it won't PLAY the playlist but will show the contents of the playlist. and you can choose the views etc just like you normally can in xbmc.

so once you have a playlist then just find skin settings, and then Home menu Buttons and just add a menu item by clicking on "Playlist (Viddeos)"

@Stigmata1823

Think there is a preset for Children Movies - I need to check Big Grin Edit Just checked & yep there's an option for "Childfrens Movies"

Best way to learn go to Skin Settings --> Home Menu and start pressing buttons. Nearly everything you wanted is there and a lot of the recent screenshots are from that part of the MOD
