I want to make the following modification.. is that possible with this mod?


on the home screen, I see the following tabs (weather, movies, tvshows, music, programs and settings). when I go to (highlight) movies, there will drop down a submenu with options (recently added, sets, files .. etc etc). This submenu is also shown at tvshows, music, programs and settings. How can I disable this submenu?

Welcome to the forums I don't want to jump over your first post, but please at least try to do this with the Mod. It is possible & I've answered that question on how to add stuff to the menu a couple of times now.

If you then get stuck, come back & tell us what you've tried and what's wrong and someone will try help

Re Duplicate date, fixed it - I think.

Busy Dialog. It is possible to have a static image - need some suggested images, preferably small 32x32 ? .png format

Thanks if you have managed to fix the duplicate date.

I just tested the toggle to disable the animation and I now see that you have still allowed a static 'working' image to be shown.

All I was suggesting was to retain some form of notification, and you have already done that. Great work as usual

One more item that I noticed last night. Adding items to Favourites no longer seems to produce a DialogInfoScreen - maybe there are other Dialogs that are no longer showing up as well ?

I also just thought I would bump this, not to push you, but just so that it doesn't get missed

Actually I did see it, been checking against default Confluence & (I think) I've got all the dialogs. Confluence didn't display a dialog on adding a favourite either.

Looks like someone needs to do a compiled bug/request list again

I also note that unfortunately my In Progress Movies definitely do not work (In Progress TV Shows DO work).

However, the Movie Bookmarks are definitely being saved. I always get the prompt to Resume on the same device, and since Im running MySQL I can also Resume on another separate device, as well as pull up the Bookmarks view from the OSD showing where the Movie was paused/stopped, etc.

That topic talks about an animated gift with 2fps as beat option. There is an example which is nicer than static.

I'm using starting of an mpeg2ts file as benchmark.

Confluence : 10.1s
Confluence with <animation> disabled 6.3s
....

Is the static 'Working...' image that CCM still displays when 'disable animation' is set to on equivalent to '<animation> disabled' as above?

If yes, that is a huge difference (10.1 down to 6.3). Certainly I notice less lag on my iPad1 after setting this option.

Perhaps if you make some changes here 'disable animation ON' can stay as it is (static image for truly best performance), and 'disable animation OFF' can be with the 2fps animated gif (still an improvement over the 60fps spinner)? Just a suggestion

In this Mod if "Disable Animation" is set then no graphic is shown, only a label that says "Working....."

Edit Small problem - I don't like the suggested "Amber" image

One thing that is an issue, is fanart for compilation albums. A typical folder layout for music is like this:

Music > Artist > Album > Songs

For a compilation album it would be like this:

Music > Various Artists > Album > Songs

Done, well on my system at least ATM having to hack into my media system to make any changes as laptop still U/S. Hopefully near the end of the week I will be able to update Repo etc.

Pretty similar, if you guys want to change that in the Mod just edit "DialogBusy.xml" change the

<texture>busy.png</texture>

to

Code:

<texture>busy.gif</texture>

& place the gif image into the skin's media folder. Then Re-Load the skin. Will get overwritten by any updates though.

I have a few questions which can be requests if it is not too much work:

- I dont know about everyone else but I have always found the stock xbmc weather to be quite clumsy and inconvenient when it comes to quickly viewing different weather locations. What do you think about adding some arrows (maybe either side of the location text) on the new weather widget that you just made?

Next update - if you click on weather widget, it'll refresh weather conditions & advance to next location.

I actually like the idea of side buttons, since the other widgets can show them - But not working from my own PC is a bit difficult & only doing small bits of code & bugfixes

You're not pestering Some good ideas have come because of users suggesting stuff.

I like the idea of titles across the top (Hybrid has them in every view). Will look at it when I've repaired/replaced my laptop - Actually there's an old request back some pages to make that view cover the whole screen which I think looks better with titles across the top rather than in panels as most the views are now

Re 2nd request would a toggle on Fanart view to switch between the thumbs presently shown & logos be OK, or ClearArt which would everyone prefer ?

whufclee - can you tell me how you managed to setup guisettings.xml to show a specific backgrounds folder? also what kind of backgrounds are you using out of interest?

Sorry I've just got back off holiday so don't know if this has been answered already but here goes...
Open guisettings.xml with a text editor like notepad++ and search for "weather.jpg"
In that section you'll find lots of different preset background paths, I changed them to:
special://profile/whufclee_art/backgrounds/<background_name>.jpg (change <background_name> to whatever your background is called, e.g. weather.jpg).

I created a folder in my userdata directory called "whufclee_art" and my backgrounds are in a subfolder called "backgrounds".

By the way, these backgrounds really kill the performance on r-pi so I just use the global one which makes it nice and quick. As you can see in the video it works fine on HTPC though.

EDIT: If anyone knows what resolution or any tricks of the trade I should be using to optimise the background art for r-pi that would be much appreciated.

Just out of interest, you should be able to point to alternate directories on the same machine using skin settings --> background. If there's a problem there - let me know.
