Command in Ace to access Recently Added Movies:

Command in Aeon MQ 5 to access Recently Movies:

ActivateWindow(videos,recentlyaddedmovies,return)

So, I no have way to discover why that happens in your case, sorry.

Try this:

Go to addons folder and delete folder skin.aeonmq5

Go to package folder and delete any references to skin.aeonmq5 too.

Download the skin again and reinstall.

I know, this is why I did ALL those tests to isolate the source of the issue before mentioning it here, I presumed already that the command was the same as Ace...
I'll try again (delete EVERYTHING related the MQ5) and redownload a new copy in case...

***BTW, I don't think the command is the issue, it's more how the skin generates the screen IMO...

Anyway, I'll let you know... I just don't want to use ACE now that I tasted to MQ5, lol...

OK, on one of my HTPC, I did a complete rebuild (this one is Openelec) and it still did it (again, Ace; no issue). So there is really "something" different in MQ5 that may need a fix (and two of my 5 HTPCs are fine so I know some users have no issue; doesn't mean there is no problem).

I started isolating features that would be involved that doesn't exist in Ace. I may have found one; custom watched indicators...
I may be wrong but I ALWAYS use the eye one with black background... I tried disabling the watched indicators from the views...
Since then, so far, never crashed on black screen...
I will have to test more to confirm but so far, it may be related...

This works but I prefer to see it. Especially for when watching with guests as it it's nice to have a preview of the recent stuff.

I tried that (though not completely sure if I picked the right option when you say disable) but it had no effect for me. Although at one time, it appeared the skin was doing something then just froze. Not sure what I did for that to happen.

It's not a major issue as such, because the various movie options view below - i.e. recently added, studios, genre work. It's just if someone is using the remote and presses it and freezes, it doesn't make a pleasant experience.

To separate types of media (Kids and & Adults for example) follow this tutorial. It was written for MQ4, but the principle is still the same.

For youtube etc, go to the main menu customization, and then add them as add-on's to the main menu.

Go to settings, Main Menu Customization, First Empty replace with My Menu 1, rename for My Menu, press left item for submenu, and for each empty option, replace with one video addon, when conclude, return to home, and you have widgets for your addons.

I love this skin, it's great but it's performing some weird behavior. First off let me say that I'm running the Movie type as the Right list, running on Win8.1 with the Frodo v12.2 and everything seems to go according to plan except for this. Let's say I just updated a title with the correct Country and Studios and it displays just fine. Next I go into a set and scroll to a movie that has different Studios. The trouble appears when I go back to my original title that it has somehow retained the Studios from the movie that was in the set. So now I have the studios from the original movie and the movie from a set all displaying in the original movie. I hope that makes sense. Where is it pulling that information from? I checked the nfo of the title in question and Studios in question and they aren't there so where is it pulling that info from? Is there some cashe files that need to be dumped when transitioning from one title to the next?

Font №8 don't work with Russian characters, and this font only for main menu.
We made Russian translation for skin, but we can not use it because there is no support for Cyrillic in fonts... What a pity!

I am using "Univers Condensed Medium" as aeon_mainmenu.ttf.

I have some test result (positive).
I can't be 100% of which of those two test corrected it (yet) but additionally to stop using custom watched flags I decided to redo the SQL databases from scratch.
I was using centralized MySQL configuration.

To make this really clean, I uninstalled MySQL and deleted everything (database, etc...) from server.
I installed the latest MySQL and recreated the XBMC SQL user, etc...
I rescanned my entire library to it.
And, I used Trakt to resync my watched states.
(only thing I lost was the "resume" points; not really important)

From this moment, I haven't had the black screen issue yet at all when going to "recently added" from sub menu.
I'll test reactivating my favorite watched indicator in MQ5 (the eye on black background one) and see if I'm still stable.

So, so far. I isolated the issue source to be the SQL database or the watched indicators...
