WMC as the backend - released
Ok i've now gotten home and tried to get it running again.. no luck.

I did confirm my credentials are indeed setup (although i'm not sure client side where i would even put them.. but i can and have access to the entire computer remotely and am sharing various folders for movies etc).

Here's the fresh log :HTPC WMCServer Log

HTPC is the server and has a client running on it. That works great. I'm noticing, though, that my bedroom-htpc doesn't ever even connect. As noted, i have the plugin installed and can configure it, but when i go to System -> Live TV -> General -> Enabled and turn it on it just crashed XBMC out completely.

Thanks again for the help!

Please take care to select the correct addon for both your XBMC and OS versions. All feedback is welcome!

Thanks Immortal! No more hand installs! I tried windows and linux (frodo) and both worked flawlessly. I will put links up to your zip files and update the instructions too. The wiki should be updated also.

This is huge man, thanks again.

This is so awesome! I'm on it!
The XBMC team, plug-in devs, skinners, etc. do this for us for FREE in their spare time because they want to. Think about that for a second before you start bitching...
Just got word on the Xbian forum, the Xbian builds are also being added to the official Xbian repo as well!
Ok, so I'm working on adding it to the wiki and doing it myself as I create the step-by-step there. Leave it to me to find an issue (sorry). When I select install, I see 'downloading' for a split second and the status returns to "Add-on disabled'. I did delete my old manually installed version and then manually deleted the pvr.wmc folders in /userdata/addon_data and /addons and tried again to no avail. This is on Frodo.

Are they using your build or doing their own?

They are using my builds.
Fixed it. In /repo.frodo.theimmortal/addon.xml:
Code:
<datadir zip="true">https://googledrive.com/host/0B0WaVVQcdUHVTndrMk9zWkpKRDQ/Frodo/Downloads/</datadir>

Should be:

Good catch, I'll get it fixed right away!
I was unable to get the PVR add-on working using your repository. it was not listed in the enabled add-ons after installing the repository. I found the add-on, clicked on install, and it said "downloading" but immediately switched back to "not installed". I was able to install the add-on "by hand" from the server and client google drive page

Now that it is installed, I am running into a more frustrating issue. Live TV playback in XBMC is ridiculously laggy and slow; I'm getting around 3 FPS (rough estimation). live TV playback in windows media center, however, is perfect. I can list my hardware if you want, but I assure you that this is not caused by a limitation of my hardware. any insight you could provide me to get this working would be greatly appreciated.

Please see my post above. I just had the exact same issue with the repo, found the issue and notified TheImmortal who is currently in the process of fixing it.

I'll have to let the devs handle the other question. Only thing I can think of off the top of my head, if the issue is with HD channels, is to check your audio output device and make sure WASAPI is selected rather than DirectSound. I had a similar issue with HD content and this was the fix for me. But take it with a grain of salt...I'm just the wiki guy for a reason. LOL. I can tell you that logs will be very helpful (XBMC and ServerWMC) if you can get them posted up on pastebin and linked.

Your suggestion got me thinking. I had to turn off exclusive mode in windows on my audio device to get the live TV playback to work properly in windows media center. I didn't check the impact that had on XBMC. it was actually causing all video playback in XBMC to be extremely laggy. Turning exclusive mode back on fixed all my problems

not bad for the wiki guy Wink
Woohoo! Glad you got it working.

I can't see any problem with the server log. It does not look like the credentials are set, but now that I understand it is just a total crash on the remote client (sorry I didn't read it closely before) - credentials wouldn't cause that. If you are sure you have installed the correct addon for your version of xbmc (frodo vs gotham) and the correct OS, I guess the client xbmc log is the thing to look at. It looks like for osx it is stored here:

Debug log: /Users/<your_user_name>/Library/Logs/XBMC.log

Please post that, maybe there is a clue there.
