Just tried this for the first time and I'm confused over the fact that the add-on launches Safari every time I want to play something. I can't play these videos in XBMC, can I?

No that's not possible, and this is because Viaplay is using Silverlight (which in turn has powerfull DRM protection through Microsofts PlayReady platform) for playback.
At this time playback has to be done through the web browser. This is also the reason why for instance Raspberry Pi with Raspbmc cannot be supported.
An integrated solution would have been very nice, but as I mentioned above, at this time XBMC cannot support playback of Silverlight based content and least of all content that's protected (encrypted) by PlayReady.
There's a reason why so many On demand services uses Silverlight... I hope this answers your question.

It was my main reason for trying Viaplay. At this point I can not justify paying for the service if I have to jump between browser and XBMC all the time. Maybe further down the line...we'll see.

This might not be a solution for you, but if you are using the Viaplay addon on Windows the playback support is somewhat better.
You can use remote control (MCE remote) or keyboard with media-buttons which makes the playback more convenient.
And when playback is stopped you will return to XBMC...

I'am interested in trying your add-on for viaplay. I have windows 2008 r2 and win 7 as running machines and are running XBMC 13 Alpha (XBMCSetup-20131231-cde2285-master.exe). Didn't read hole thread, so I don't know the status for XBMC 13?
Will run swedish viaplay and mostly sports.
Best regards
At
I've released the latest version see the first post in this thread for download link.
The addon should work just fine with Xbmc 13
If you should come across any problems then post them here and I'll do my best to fix them...

I have tried installing the add-on from the first page(plugin.video.viaplay-2.0.3), but I get a "Dependencies Not Met". This is on Win7 64-bit and has been tested with latest nightly, the XBMCSetup-20140104-3b393f9-master and some older. There seems to have been some problemes with add-ons in Nov/Dec, causing this kind of problems, but they should have been solved now I think. I have done clean reinstallation of XBMC, though only nightlies.
Do you have any idea? Can debug log be useful for you?
Best regards

Thanks for this new version of the Viaplay addon, it works much better than the old version, in fact i havn't had any problem at all with the new version.
I do have an feature request if it is possible. I do not have an MCE remote but i would like to use a remote with this addon (same goes for your HBONordic addon). Is it possible to implement so you could use any remote that is supported by XBMC to work with the addon? I currently use my TV remote with the CEC adapter or the offical XBMC android remote.
If support for more remotes are not possible, is it possible ta add an option to close the webbrowser automatically when the movie/tv-serie has reach the end?
Thanks in advance
Krister

Do you know if I can order this in Sweden or do I have to order it from the US?

It seems that although the Xbmc team has not done major breaking changes for addon developers, they however changed the minimum python version to 2.1.0.
The Viaplay addon had 2.0.0, I've changed this and uploaded a new 2.0.3 version of the Viaplay addon that has the minimum Python version set to 2.1.0 and
I tried it with Xbmc 13 and it did work. So please just download the 2.0.3 version of the addon again and it should work for you.

Quote:Hi! Now it works to install. I though have trouble when going the last step to start content. I go to Sports->Live Sports->All Sports and I get a "Could not connect to network server" and when exiting script there is a "Script failed". I have checked other categories as well. Retyped password information and doublechecked that site was working in my default browser(Firefox 26.0).

From what I can tell when running the Viaplay addon on XBMC 13 it seems that there is a bug in XBMC 13 which is causing this error, it's not due to network error...
It does not seem to be a problem with 12.2 and 12.3 of XBMC. I will look into this, but it could just be a temporary glitch in the unstable XBMC 13 version...
