[CLOSED] Advanced Launcher - Applications Launcher Addon for XBMC
(2014-01-22, 05:15)tadbitnerdy Wrote: Sorry for the late reply. I can't get to the XML file currently (wife watching netflix). However, I did see that the it uses ActivateWindow, rather than PlayMedia, to launch the favorite. Does that help?
PlayMedia() function is not good, because started applications by Advanced Launcher are not media that will be played by XBMC. This function will surely show you the "opening the stream" message. ActivateWindow() function works, it is the default one use by the favourite script, but it is not prefect. ActivateWindow() function will open a new window into XBMC then will start the application inside it. So, the display transition will not be perfect. The right function to use into favourites.xml file to start Advanced Launcher is RunPlugin() as below :

Code:
<favourite name="###">RunPlugin("plugin://plugin.program.advanced.launcher/?###")</favourite>

Where ### respectively correspond to the favourite name and to the Advanced launcher URL ID.
Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately that didn't help anything. When I start the launcher favorite from the main menu, it takes me to what looks like a movie with no metadata, then it starts my autohotkey EXE (it launches netflix). Then, when I exit netflix (Alt+F4), it take me back to the page with no metadata, and I have press the back button to get back to the main menu. Before the updates it wouldn't do this. When I would select the favorite from the main menu, a little bar would show up at the top that said Advanced Launcher stream opening. Netflix would open. When I would close Netflix, it would go straight back to the main menu. I'm not sure what changed. I've tried rolling back to 2.0, but no change. Any other ideas?

Thanks,

-Tad
*UPDATE* For now I've just added a SendInput {Backspace} line to my AHK script. So, once I've closed Netflix, it maximizes and focuses XBMC, then hits the back button for me. Don't know why I didn't think of that until now Smile
Hi All,

I'm using Advanced Launcher to fire up some emulators, works great. However the Advanced Launcher setting 'Minimise XBMC' keeps changing itself. I set it to off, and it turns itself back on. I'm using XBMC on Windows.

Any ideas?

Strange... I will check that...

EDIT: Ok... I have found the problem. It will be fixed by version 2.2.4.
Wow, awesome. Thanks for the quick reply.

One other small thing. When scraping rom info using semi-auto the results show items from different consoles, despite this being set for the launcher. Am I missing something here? Wouldn't it be simpler to only show results that are from the console set?

hope that makes sense

Platform information is only used during automatic scanning. For semi-automatic scanning all the platform as displayed. That's the normal way of working. As you have to select the right game into semi-automatic scanning mode, it is always better to display more information than not enough. It is also usefull when a specific game do not exist into the database for a specific platform but exist on another one.
Ah I see makes total sense. Forgive my ignorance.
Hi Angelscry.

I'm referencing this post: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...#pid677745

I've run into trouble trying to use either Nestopia or JNES. In the former case I am getting the same "Can't start! Direct3D is busy!" error message as that other user in the post. In the latter case I am getting a message that says "DirectDraw: Unable to create surface lpDDSPrimary". As both of these are DirectX errors, I'm assuming that XBMC isn't properly releasing resources for the emulator to run. I've done the following so far:

- XBMC is in fullscreen-windowed mode.
- I have both the JNES and Nestopia launchers with the "toggle XBMC into windowed mode" option set to ON.
- I have also set the toggle to OFF and attempted to launch games with XBMC fully windowed.
- I have launched XBMC both with Exporer.exe as the current shell and with XBMCLauncher as the shell. (XBMCLauncher starts at boot time. I can try troubleshooting by disabling it.)

Any thoughts on what's happening?

Also, other emulators do not have this type of problem. It appears only these two are have problems. And yes. They are starting just fine from a windows folder or shortcut.

For me it's effectively a DirectX ressource incompatibility problem between XBMC and Nestopia/JNES emulators due to the fact that XBMC is not releasing DirectX video ressources correctly. When I have initially tested Nestopia (but that's actually more than 3 years ago) I haven't encounter this problem. It could be an update of XBMC, or DirectX that have bring now this incompatibility. If you do not have this problem with other emulator using DirectX ressources, so it's really a compatibility problem between XBMC and Nestopia/JNES emulators.

You cannot fix this from Advanced Launcher. So, actually what you can try is :

Version 2.2.4 : This new version of Advanced Launcher fix a bug that was not saving the launchers toggle windows/fullscreen mode options correctly into the launchers.xml file.

Changelog :
 • Fix Minimize option save.
Thanks. The really frustrating thing about the issue is that it happens inconsistently. For instance I tried disabling XBMC Launcher and starting XBMC directly (the Metro menu overlays the program unfortunately). When I switched back and made XBMC Launcher the default shell the resource issue seems to have gone away temporarily. So it's really hard to pin down a decent, simple workaround. I'll give your .bat idea a try.
Hi guys,

I have been searching the internet for the last several days trying to find a solution to my problem. I have a lot of regular PC games on my computer and have the shortcuts to the launchers on my desktop in a folder called Games. When I saw the screenshots of Advanced Launcher on the beginning of this thread I knew it would be really cool to configure XBMC to display thumbs, banners, developer, plot information on each PC game. So I followed the given steps in several videos to add a standalone launcher and pointed it to the shortcut files (.lnks) in my Games folder but the problem is these games are regular PC games and there is not PC game option in the platform menu so I just select PC Booter. So when it tries to run the scrapper (which is the The Game DB scrapper) it says "no thumbnails found." So when I try to select PS3 instead to try to troubleshoot, it finds pictures but instead this time it says "impossible to assign thumbnails." I'm really frustrated and even tried to this on Cirrus Extended. I really want to get my Game library like in the screenshots of this thread. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance guys.

Ohhhhh alright thanks!

Do you have a solution for the "impossible to assign thumbnails" thing? Or will this fix that?

"impossible to assign thumbnails" message could mean that the scraper is not able to found a thumbnail corresponding to the gamename/plaform combo. So giving the good platform could solve the problem. It could also mean that the addon is not able to save the thumbnail image into the designed thumbnail directory (no write rights).
