No offense to Finless, but even with the amount of firmware he has put out and the amount of boxes he's used, that's still very anecdotal evidence. Making custom firmware doesn't make someone an expert, as most of the work is just pulling together different stuff that different people have done, which may or may not even increase performance on a given device. It's nice to have someone to apply various patches so I don't have to, and to even test it on a lot of hardware that they happen to have, but it's not really a science.
He is comparing it to the Amlogic MX chipset, which I don't have, so maybe it really is noticeable when you compare them side by side. I can compare my RK3188 stick with some other ARM hardware and even some PC-based hardware, and I don't really see a PQ issue.

I don't know who the hell is Finless but this is just a pile of BS.
I've got more than a few Amlogic based devices and with all due respect they don't know how to do their job.
The main ip core they had to design is the vpu and few years past from their first 8726-M SoC and still the deinterlacer is buggy and the vpu can't handle high bitrate files on the dual core 8726-M6/MX in Android 4.2.2 and kernel 3.0.50.

I'm considering the MyGica ATV580. Anybody have experience with one of these. What potential does it have? Can it be flashed with Linux? What are its limitations ?

Hi,
Im new here and german,so sry about my worst english sometimes.
I`ve buyed the Mele 1000G Quad(A31),but the Fw has still bugs.I`m unable to run any PVR Addon with VidOnMe Xbmc,Script error....
The box has a good hardware, but the lack of BT is a great disadvantage for gaming pads. The F10 Pro Mele Remote Control is a good compensation for it,but a bit expensive.RaspberryPi has a weak Hardware but good Software and its cheap, but cubietruck is much better I`ve heard.
The best Androidbox is the new MadCatz M.O.J.O. I think, but it cost 200 bucks.BT,good gamepad inclusive,USB 3.0 and nice Nvidea Tegra graphic.
Allwinner has also a new chip created, the A80 with Octacore,so New boxes will come.

Hi all,
I'm brand new to all this. I'm currently running xbmc through an old netbook and I'm looking for an android box now.
Minix x5 & x7, or the mini versions, or a ddroidbox imx6 have court my eye. What are people's opinions? Obviously I'm also very open to suggestions for a box.
If this has been posted in the wrong thread, I apologies in advance but I'm really looking for help.
Thanks
