I have checked my cables and their seems to be no switch which makes sense because they are the psyclone cables with only component they dont offer svid or A/V so no selection should be needed in that regard but thanks.

Alright with some assistance i now have the newest build: rev8692-TECH. I still however am still having the same problem. The xbox loads and works great through the standard A/V cables however when i use the psyclone component with optical port cables audio no problem and video is great and see the menus, play games, and even launch the old xbmp no problem. But in regard to XBMC everytime i launch it the screen goes to a weird dark image with some blue static lines occassionally otherwise i'll get a blank screen saying their is no current input going to the tv. I have the X3 on a 1.4v xbox and by holding the white button have accessed the X3 menu settings to turn on the resolution i want which is 720p. I cant tell using the component cables but when using the regular ones i go into the XBMC settings with the same settings as mentioned earlier and go to see which resolutions are checked/available and none are checked and not sure what im doing wrong. Please if anyone knows whats going on let my noobness know, would appreciate it.

I'm using an X3 chip and using 720p also... works fine with the original MS Component HDTV A/V Kit.
I update my build weekly too...
try getting a new cable set.
I'm not an expert but I play one at work.

No - you would need a COMPONENT cable. They seems to be hard to find.
Furthermore your Xbox must be NTSC.

I just bought a Xbox with XBMC. I hooked it up with my 42in TOSHIBA LCD TV with standard AV Cable! The video quality is kinda sucky!
I definitley need to upgrade AV Cable to Component!
I got two options here. One is Microsoft's HD AV Pack and the other is Monster's GameLink 400.
price difference is huge. does Monster cable have any advantage over MS HD AV Pack? I mean is there a noticable difference between those two cables?
If not then i would go and buy MS HD AV Pack because it's cheaper!
Any advice will be appreciated!
Thanks

Most people would *kill* to find the MS original cables (including me). So where did you find them?
I would definitly go with the MS one's, since I have them with my first Xbox set, and the quality is superb.

Thanks for replaying!
Really? Is it that rare to find?
I saw it in a local store. The guy was selling it for $15!

You can sometimes find some on ebay UK - I ordered one from Germany from there and it was alot cheaper than buying one here.

I got the Monster Gamelink 400X from eBay (having them shipped from US the shipping was more than the cables...) and the fonts are cleaner and the colors seem more vivid than the standard Euroscart connection, even in standard 720x576 PAL 16:9. I can't seem to get tghe HDTV resultions in MS Dashboard Video settings, only Normal, Letterbox and Widescreen, any help on that would be appreciated.
