1.Go to this direcory and delete any repo that contains xbmc on it

cd /etc/apt/sources.list.d/

sudo rm delete.any.xbmc.repo

2.Then add this repo

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xbmcrus/fmxvba

3. Remove the current xbmc

sudo apt-get remove xbmc xbmc-bin

4.

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

5. Install xbmc

sudo apt-get install xbmc xbmc-bin

There you go!

Why would you tell people to install from that repo?

It contains a testing branch with XVBA code. It is NOT default 12.3

I just installed a new ubuntu mini 14.04. For 14.04 is 12.3 Frodo still in Synaptic available. At the end i just moved my home folder.

Everything runs fine now.

ppa:xbmcrus/fmxvba <- that's a joke?

We stopped doing xvba for a very good reason a long time ago.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Ok guys sorry for my mistake, I was trying to find a way to downgrade I didn't know this
was some unsupported modded version of xbmc, and by the way I found that repo doing:

apt-cache policy xbmc

seems like even the official xbmc repo still has a link to that one.

Great that you find a solution!
