Has anyone tried making channels from the World News Live plugin streams. I tried two different methods but have yet to have any success.

1) I tried pulling the rtmp link from the plugin files and setting up the channel independently from the plugin.

2) I tried using the actual plugin configuration in settings2.xml.

Both of these were tried with the Al Jazeera stream because it was working within the plugin itself.

Has anyone else gotten these streams working in PTVL?

Oh this is way too cool a program to give up. I am working away at it - reading and rereading all the posts. I will do it :-)

Here is an example. No where on the first page is there an explanation of <setting id="Channel_x_changed" value="False" />. It is used many times, sometimes "true" and sometimes "false", but no explanation of what it is, and when you should set it one way or the other.

Another example is the RSS feed instructions, where the the example has 9 variables, but the explanation has only 6.

See this is where I'm baffled...

I update the first three posts everytime there is a change... So please point out my assumptions and old not working configuration examples?

@ BigOldBoy Only my recent additions have to be added manually. The rest are configured in the channel manager.

If that's what you take away from reading the RSS example... Then just give up now. You're not going to get this working...

If you really want to use this plugin... I suggest you stick with autotuning.

Good, It can be a little overwhelming, but trust me all the info you need is there...

Down the road it will be much easier to configure channels after I release companion tools

I have a question to anybody. How can I change the default Enter key that shows the guide to another key so It doesn't interfere with XBMC defaults?

I use a remote control with Eventghost and the center button is used as Enter Key to Show the Player Control OSD from where I can go to download subtitles.

I'm having difficulties getting the youtube user channel/favorites to autotune. I have the necessary plugins installed, and added my username which I got from www.youtube.com/user/(myusername)
I put it in without spaces just as shown in the URL.

Any ideas?

one more problem...
when super favorites is scanning a channel, you can see in the GUI the actual path it's going...
it becomes a problem when "background updating" is selected, because in the middle of the video you're watching the GUI comes in your way...

sorry for my english, i'll try more,
for example if the path for a super favorite is plugin.xxx/genre/comedy, then when PSTL populate this channel you will actually see the screens as if you are browsing this channel.
when in "background updating" mode, it will overlay the video you are watching...

if its still hard to understand ill try to post a video of that.

There is no getting around this... If you change channels it should put PTVL back in focus.
You can always disable background building.

I only support stable builds of XBMC... currently the latest stable build is 13.2... anything higher than that and you're on your own...

WTF is going on... when it rains it pours!! not only did my dropbox get banned but my IP was banned by mc2xml...
I might not be able to share xmltv data anymore...

can someone privately host my xmltv data? I need ftp access

It's working for me, took quite a bit of messing with, but see my recent post for in what circumstances it will only work.


On a side note, I tried this with XBMC remote, does it work? I couldn't really use the guide, the up and down buttons changed channels, etc.

I am having a problem. After the update now when I play any video even from my own library not through pstvl my external player launches and the video plays fine but when it is over the video just restarts. If I close the video player (mpc-hd) it just relaunches and plays the same video. I can not get back to Xbmc to select another file to watch, I have to open Task manager and close xbmc then close mpc-hd. Please help me fix this issue it is making xbmc unusable for me.

You said it happens when you are not running PTVL... I think you should ask for help in another thread.

NO I dont think so. I believe its PTVL I have not installed any other add ons in months and it did not start doing it till the first time I launched PTVL after the update. And I am probably wrong but I thought the PTVL service runs in the background all the time?
