If you remove the mint theme with sudo apt-get remove xbmc-skin-mint and restart XBMC you will automagically be running another theme (PM3 I think)

I tried the Mint theme and ... I understand the problem now :-) . There is no menu item for settings. So you need to type on "s" (as in system) to get the entries. Then you can select the new theme you want.

After reviewing the packages I think they made a mistake with the facilities of the skins, skins are installed at home (.xbmc / skin) and not in the directory / usr / share / xbmc / skin as they can not read ( at least I do). will have to find another way to install the skins as a package deb can not install a home.

There is two way of installing skins and both can work along.
They can be install in /usr/share/xbmc/skin which is system wide skin and available to every user on the system.
Then, each user can install his own skin in .xbmc/skin and this skin will be available only for him.
I don't understand then why you think this should be changed.

Forgive by translating language, I am not English. I have installed several skins in / usr / share / xbmc / XBMC skin and can only read "Project Mayhem III", where a instalo the skins (.xbmc / skin /...) XBMC if you can read different skins. The installation of skins on (/ usr / share / xbmc / skin) XBMC can not only read other skins (Project Mayhem III).
- can be a problem for permits or configuration XBMC?

sorry for the previous post... I think I figured it out.
I installed the SVN source and now I get more packages.
Do I just need to choose 'xbmc' to install?
I'm not an expert but I play one at work.
