[OLD/CLOSED] PseudoTV Live - Set-Top box solution
Amazing addon!

I just started to play with it and let the addon auto setup some hundred channels. While seems to worked fine, I can't get the TV guide to show all channels and what they are playing. When I press the "guide" button on my harmony remote, XBMC shows an error message saying that there are no PVR clients running. According to that lifehacker article, this should work.

Can you help?

Sounds like your remote isn't sending the right keypress. Does the guide come up if you hit "Enter" on a connected keyboard?
Hi,

I'm getting pop-up messages on every channel "Submit error report", when I submit it - it says "Unable to send error report!".
Anyway the message details on "Value" are :

[errno 22] invalid mode ('rb') or filename: 'smb:// I deleted the path / logo.png'
Getting it on every channel, each error refers to it's channel icon.

whats can I do besides disabling channel logos ?

- Edit: Changed the folder location to a local folder ( C: ) and now it works fine.
Guess it can't load channel logos from SMB:// location anymore.

Using version 0.5.7d with Kodi (clean install)

Yes, seems to be working with the enter-key. Do you know how I can bind it to the guide-key of my harmony? I'm using the keymap editor addon.

Additional questions:

A) message/dialogue boxes:

Is there any way to not show the various message and dialogue boxes which are pretty intrusive and destroy the TV experience? Talking about these three:
1. Local content being buffered/loaded - a small "loading" message box is displayed at the top
2. YouTube content being loaded - a pretty big dialogue box (even containing an abort-button) is displayed in the center of the screen
3. Background operations (eg. channel was auto-setup) - a small message box is displayed at the top
It would be nice to not show these elements plus to preload/buffer the corresponding content before/while the currently playing show is ending.

B) trailer/ads:

Between two shows, it seems there is YouTube content being loaded and showed like trailers. I guess I activated that somewhere in the settings. Would it be possible to add an option to define a video file/folder (similar to the bumpers) that shows a small video introducing that trailers/ads come next? This would also be a nice way to add some time for it to preload/buffer the content which will come next.

Also nice would be to define a sound file saying "coming up next" which is played when the little preview window in the right-bottom is introducing the upcoming program and/or a video file with a "coming up next" animation followed by fanart/info which is played after the ads/trailers and before the new show starts.

C) multiple YouTube channels in one:

Is it possible to create eg. a comedy channel which plays videos from various different YouTube channels?

Sorry for the many questions but love the potential of this addon :-)

For A) There's a disable notification options that should take care of most of those, under set top mode and also for artwork downloader

B) not sure about that one.

C) You would have to do that by creating a public playlist via your you tube page, and then create a channel that uses only that playlist. Add the videos from the different channels to that playlst. It won't be completely dynamic, in that videos that you add to the playlist won't automatically queue up and play on that channel, but new videos will show up after channel refreshes.

Are you referring to the PseudoTV Live settings? I enabled the set top mode there (and disabled the "Show Notifications" option below it) but that doesn't change it anything - all the notifications are still showing.

I also encountered another problem:
a) Sometimes after a (here: local) program, the YouTube-dialogue window ("Opening Stream") appears after the previous program finished and then Kodi crashes.
b) When starting Kodi, an error message "PseudoTV Live error" is displayed by Kodi. However, I can still run the addon.
Bug
I found a platform specific (probably) bug in the VideoWindow Patcher. I installed the version 0.5.7d on my OpenELEC machine and when I opened the EPG the video was playing in the background and most of the guide was transparent! I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, clearing the cache, uninstalling and reinstalling the VideoWindow Patch several times and nothing worked. Finally I was poking around this thread and found mention that the VideoWindow Patcher also mods the skin. I checked my skin.aeon.nox.5 folder there was a 720p folder (in addition to the 1080i folder) that only had one xml doc in it (custom_script.pseudotv.live_9506.xml), I moved the file to my 1080i folder, rebooted and my video is in the little window as it should be! Big Grin
Any word on why directories are no longer working as channels?
Hello,

I just upgraded form Frodo to Helix and switched from OpenELEC to RaspBMC (for the Raspberries) with this. Because the old PseudoTV isn't working properly anymore in Helix, I started using PseudoTV Live.

With some fiddling around, I got it working now. So at first: Thank you very, very, very much for continuing this great plugin! I'm using PseudoTV for many years and I do not want to be without it. I donated for the old one several times and will do this for your fork now.

I got two minor problems with version 0.5.7d, which needed a some time to working around. First, the 'Custom Playlist' dialog in the Channel Configurator is missing an input field for selecting the playlist file (screenshot). So I need to edit the settings.xml manually.

The other problem was, that I need to disable the system caching in Misc. settings of the plugin to get the "Every Time" channel reset working. Otherwise the channels won't be reset.

I append an log file with enabled system caching. kodi.log via Dropbox

I have both problems on Raspbmc (XBMC 14.0) and Kubuntu Trusty (14.0 from XBMC-ppa).

Thanks for the great work,

will;

I am having the exact same problem except with Opelelec 5.0

I haven't bothered to confirm it yet, but I think the PTVL startup is now calling out to You Tube for the program's splash screen, so if You Tube isn't properly set up beforehand, I could see where that could cause a few minor errors on startup.

It won't be completely dynamic, in that videos that you add to the playlist won't automatically queue up and play on that channel, but new videos will show up after channel refreshes.

B) You should be able to go into settings>commercials/bumpers and choose "local folders" instead of internet sources. Then you can set the folder to pull from.

C) No disrespect to Thor, but don't do what he is telling you. While it will work and is useful for certain situations, it does not seem ideal for what you want. You CAN set up a Multi-Channel/User Youtube channel. A lot of the community list channels are actually set up exactly that way (for example a "Video Games" channel might pull content from both the IGN and Gamespot channels/users). To figure out the proper way to set up such a channel, look at the various Youtube templates on Page 1 of the Thread.

Pro-tip: When looking through the PTVL settings there are a number of tabs on the top of the settings box. Don't be fooled, these are NOT ALL of the tabs available. If you highlight them you can arrow over and access more tabs with more settings. This is where you should find the trailers/bumpers tab.

Good Luck.

Try using "PseudoTV Live Manager for Windows",link is in the first post.

Edit: sorry just noticed your not using windows so this wont help you. But yeah there is a problem with Custom Playlist and channels based off a Directory.
Custom skin "Titian 1" updated.Skin works great in Helix(including side bar, coming up next, new tv overlay and new epg genres colors).

Hi there, I'm not sure what exactly I'm doing wrong, but every time I open the add on, it's instantly loading a music video from Youtube or Vevo and playing it. I can't get it to take me to a TV guide, it just keeps playing music videos.

Can anybody help me and tell me what I've done wrong please?
