As a side note, I also installed on a Win 7 comp to test, turned off Enable Global Backgrounds, and the movie theatre background displayed just fine, then changed the Video Tab to go to Files, and it did exactly the same as before on a Raspberry Pi install (should have mentioned that earlier)

Also it might help in trouble-shooting, but clicking on the Video Tab and going straight to files mode there is a black background, going to the Video Tab> down to the sub-menu and then files, displays the movie theatre background, hope this helps!

Would users of the git versions who also use a mouse try out the Enable Manual Slide Menu ***Testing Mad Idea*** option and get back to me.

It's a proof of concept idea that requires you to actually click the slide menu tab to open or close the side menu in media views. Very rough ATM and not advised if not using a mouse but need to find the issues on a wider user base than my laptop

Installed from the git on a Win7 box and the tab works great! You must click on the arrow on the tab to open the sidebar and to close it. The problem for mice has always been the loss of focus on a menu item the sidebar would close on it's own. Very pesky business. This "Mad Idea" makes it stay open, unless you right click OFF the sidebar someplace, until you close it by clicking on the tab again! Kudos to you on this!! I wish I had an android "Touch Screen" device with this installed to test for you but my tablet is still on Gotham until Helix gets this or the Hybrid skins up and working.

The bad news: The live background for Weather quit working with the installation of this. I don't know if ALL live backgrounds have stopped but I know the Weather isn't working, just a black screen. On 3.05 (from the repo) there seems to be problems with the background disappearing if 1) the sidebar is open 2) You have more than one location for weather configured. Switching locations sometimes brings back the live background but not every time.

I will edit this post with results for my Android TV Box (Ugoos UT2) when I get it installed...

On Android it's of no use. The sidebar acts as always but I do see the arrow on the tab get highlighted and once it's open clicking on the tab to close it does nothing.
Live background problems exist but are not identical to Windows but probably stem from what ever the problem is. Wrong live background gets displayed when hover over the menu bar in Weather. i.e. it's raining here and the background displays a sunny day. Then clicking Weather the background may change to the proper one but returns to sunny day when exiting. If you open Weather, sidebar and change location you get a proper background and it stays when you go to Home. The entire thing is messed up on both Windows and Android systems as best I can tell.

Thanks for testing, i'll play with it a bit more before deciding if it's worth it or not. I am using a Win7 laptop - so that explains why Win7 is ahead

Backgrounds are beginning to be a pain in the butt!! Actually might be the quick attempt at throwing in a weather widget in last update. Anyway I'm looking at it.

I left the forum and ran Helix again now the live background displays when hovering over Weather on the menu bar....Not the correct background but there is one there now....maybe it needed time for the graphics to be found or something...(Pentium 4 3.2ghz and 2gb RAM) But I did try several times the first run to get it to show..

EDIT: Ok it's now been proven, I'm an idiot! The reason the backgrounds keep changing when you open Weather is because the focus on what day it is scrolls with the movement of the mouse! Duh...but then I have an excuse, doesn't happen in Hybid the background just remains the same as I recall.

But it is showing the wrong background in Home when focus is on Weather in the menu bar...

@Mudislander: Just updated to 3.0.5 from .4 thanks to the above post reminding me, and now the Video tab has the stock Confluence Bubbles background, still unable to change it to the default, or an image of my own though. Just FYI

On my system with a menu item as video files. Global Background is off. Background artwork for Videos is set to default. I then tried to change the menu item background settings
1. Live Backgrounds = Works - On home screen is live content and when browsing curtains show for items with no fanart
2 Random Fanart = Works - On Home screen random fanart - curtains when browsing as above
3 Curent theme = Problem - On Home screen is default from Gray Theme but when browsing black (none) background
4 UserSelect = Works - Shows curtains on home screen and browsing.

5 UserSelect but changed Background Artwork to theme worked - Gray theme on home screen and browsing
6 User Select but changed Background Artwork to single image worked - my image on home screen and browsing
7 User Select but changed Background Artwork to multi image worked as above

So on my system the only problem is with having the item background set to "Current Theme" - Will keep looking though as there is a niggle here somewhere.

Yeah I put the backgrounds for the Daily and Hourly items - Don't mind removing it though, don't scroll through them very often.

I've noticed the weather plugin doesn't seem very happy with more than one location - seems to take an age to get the info & the icons more often than not are not displaying.

Strange, I can't get anything other than the stock Confluence bubbles background to show when setting the Video tab to Files, just spent 10 mins trying other options for setting the Video tab, then the backgrounds, and no change.

Started thinking I changed something else on the RPi, but absolutely nothing has been altered on the Win7 set up, other than changing the Video tab to launch in Files mode.

I appreciate the time taken to trouble shoot though, if you find anything else let me know, though I have a sneaking suspicion it could be user error on my part, how I have no idea though!

I'm using yahoo weather with 2 locations and it switches between them fine, even on android.

I've read through this thread with interest and am excited to try this mod. Very nice work Mudislander and thank you for your tireless and selfless hard work!

Although not entirely a n00b, I'm a little stuck already... when try to install the zip file I get a message at the bottom of the screen which indicates the "Addon does not have the correct structure". I'm trying to add from zip and pointing it to xbmc.repo.hybrid-1.0.0.zip which I had downloaded from the first post in this thread. What have I overlooked?

Lol Not a stupid question at all, I should have noted that in my post. Yes, OpenELEC 5.0.0, which is Kodi Helix. I downloaded the zip file and popped it into my home folder\videos folder, which is where I'm selecting it from.

^^^ Just an update and solution to this "issue". It was a file permission problem. I had downloaded the zip file to my workstation and copied it over to my NAS. I should explain that my OpenELEC systems are PXE booted from the NAS. However, unlike the mount point for my media, the mount point for the OpenELEC systems does not automatically change the permissions on new files. Anyway, I manually set the permissions on the zip and Kodi was happy to accept the addon.

One thing I had to take out from Confluence was the automatic switch on the "Videos" button for files as too many variables for CCM menu. Try changing your videos button to the "Video Files" Option

SkinSettings-->HomeMenuItems-->Select your MenuItem -->"Videos Menu"-->"Videos - Files"

See if that helps.

I am trying to get the default confluence behaviour back regarding music visualisation. I disabled the fanart script, since I only want projectM as background no matter if in fullscreen or on home screen while playing music. which settings do I need to set to accomplish this? Watching LiveTV, I get the current TV program as background while not in full screen, which is fine. But no matter what settings I try, I can't get music visualization to show up while playing music and not in full screen mode ....

EDIT: just checked, the corresponding options in default confluence seem to be "Show Background "Now Playing" Video and "Now Playing" Visualisation ... both don't exist in CCM Helix.
