If i buy one of this NUC's, can i use Kodi with Windows 8.1? I think i read it that Windows 8.1 was not a good idea due to no DVXA development on Windows 8.1.

Is this true?

I use Kodi one windows 8.1 and have for quite some time using a Corei3 with the on chip Intel video. Works fine for me.

4K@60Hz over Displayport on these new NUC's according to the Digitaltrends review..

If the GPU/VPU's are the same I don't see why the i3 would be incapable of the same 4K.

It's a real shame the new NUCs don't support 2160/60p over HDMI 2.0 though - for TV uses Displayport is far from universal.

I'm pretty sure you can drive a "4k" (UHD) display with DisplayPort from a Chromebox. AFAIK, there's nothing special about Broadwell in this regards. Haswell added DP1.2 which is what you need for UHD @ 60Hz (RGB).

Yes a Chromebox can output 4K at up to 30Hz.
BUT even though it has Haswell microarchitecture and DP1.2 - that does not mean the mobile version (U) of the GPU/VPU supports 4K video output @ 60Hz.
Broadwell is a different story.
