Linux ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2017/02/21]
It has nothing to do with kernel 3.18.4? Which I didn't install.... Yet... Now I (just) read it I want to..
I can do "safely"?

No ... nothing to do with that absolutely not. It only affect VAAPI VC1 decoding, which is disabled by default.

Here's the clip of the only other time I've seen this problem... taken from Deep Blue Sea.

Sorry this is longer at 30 seconds and really goes bad in the last 10.

Granted,... I now thing that whomever decided to shoot dialog through a moving propeller for later use in compressed digital video may have not really thought things through. Even in software it looks a little bad ... but with hardware it's terrible to the point of can't miss it.

Thanks much, I see it. In the face of the woman in the helicopter, right?

Yes,... thank you for looking into it.

FernetMenta is looking into it - as my knowledge endeded after checking the input flags we set.

We already know DXVA, mpv, vlc is fine - all with hw acceleration.

Not sure we find a solution.

I'm running an Asus Chromebox with a dual boot of Chrome and Openelec.
Its hardwired to a switch in my equipment closet.
I use Kodi to watch tv by way of my 2 HDHomerun Prime boxes.
When watching any channel after 15 minutes of viewing the picture reverts back to the channel listings and I have to hit enter to start watching that channel again.
I have looked at the power saving features and changed out the wiring and tried direct wiring into the router instead of the switch, with the same results.
Any ideas or solutions?
Thanks

this has nothing to do with the ChromeBox or my setup script; it's a Kodi/PVR client/Linux? issue so ask in the proper forum.

PS - I can't reproduce this with my HDHR setup (tvheadend client on CB, backend on NAS)

I have a new Asus Chromebox setup dual boot openelec and Chrome. However if I leave the chromebox on which I like to do so that my Sonarr will send it messages to scan the library after a download etc. The box will go offline. Only the network WiFi not wired. The box is still up but the network is dead. A reboot will fix this issue.

after the wifi drops out, connect ethernet cable, SSH in, post kernel log ( dmesg | pastebinit ) URL.

Thanks Naloj for your idea

I have installed openelec on my HP chromebox following this tuto and it work perfectly except the remote control.

I have tested Logitech K400 (wireless keyboard/mouse) remote control for kodi, it run but it's not so usable.
In fact the keyboard and the mouse run but with a lot of latency and sometime some freeze, so it is not really usable.

It's not a problem of batteries because I already tried to change them

This same keyboard work perfectly on an android box with gotham release

Do you have some ideas ?

Try using a usb extension cable with the receiver.

USB3 can interfere with wireless peripherals.

I tried this however after it drops I am not given an ip on the wired connection either. What else can I try?

I rebooted and ran the command anyway just incase

I also booted back into the Chrome OS and it doesn't look like I am getting a wired connection on it there either. Possible bad unit?

you sure it's not an issue with your router?

I have other devices wired in the same 48 port switch with no issue. I was not able to get a wired connection even in Chrome. My wireless ap is a Cisco meraki mr18 no other issues with other devices. So honestly I personally don't think it is network hardware. I think it is the box. I am open to other suggestions or ideas.
I also have a Raspberry pi running openelec that doesn't drop connection on the same ap.

There's an issue open about the network droppages:

https://github.com/OpenELEC/OpenELEC.tv/issues/3873

Pretty sure it is DHCP related. I just noticed that I have a 10 minute lease time and that coincided with the timing of some of the network drops.

What about not being able to get a wired connection to work that must be hardware no? I will try a static ip today see if that helps. Lease time is 2 hours which seems about the time till it dies.
