Hi guys, so i was looking at this issue with my ps3 bluetooth remote where i thought that it just disconnects after a while.
Now after looking at this issue for a month it seems to be the problem that the batteries go empty in a week or so. It isnt a bluetooth disconnect.
My remote seems to always drain power or something because otherwise i canot explain why it burns through fresh batteries in a week. Can anybody give me some advice?

ok, i got my chromebox up and running openelec no problems.

now my problems begin - no idea why i can't load my backup in openelec. i get the message in openelec restore that there is not enough free storage space to continue. but, there definitely is i have almost 10gb free.

then i tried to download the backup add on and just restore through there (i made sure to do a backup with both of my nuc before loading on the chromebox) and i get the error that the script failed.

also, every single add on that i have used in the past that i have saved i get a dependencies not met error when trying to load it. trying this since i can't load my backup. i was running the same version of openelec on my nuc as well so i'm not sure what the problem could be

any idea what is wrong?

I have my ChromeBox set up and working great with the latest Kodi release, but I am experiencing some issues with my ChromeBox failing to boot.

My ChromeBox will not boot when the HDMI cable is connected to my Vizio P70 4k TV. It will freeze before it ever shows anything on the screen. No BIOS no nothing. TV says no signal. When I had the ChromeBox set to boot into Kodi after 30 seconds the box would never do the BIOS beep no matter how long I left it connected. The solution then was unplug HDMI, unplug power, connect power, wait for beep, connect HDMI. Then Kodi would boot. Since then I've completely re setup the BIOS to the one second option. I still have to disconnect the HDMI cable but at least once the power is connected I can reconnect it within a couple of seconds, no more waiting.

Anyone experienced this?

I'm thinking it has to do with the fact the ChromeBox doesn't appear to support 4k@60hz via 4:2:0 chroma. I'm guessing it handshakes at 4k then fails/freezes when the TV can't do 4:4:4 chroma. Or something like that. Not a question relevant to this thread but: Anyway to completely disable 4k output in the ChromeBox hardware?

@knives of ice, no idea, but I'd ask the OE folks on their IRC support channel, since it sounds like an OE issue, not a Chromebox one.

@FreakinSyco the issue is with the Vizio advertising certain display modes via EDID that it actually doesn't accept as inputs. The solution is to 1) not use the 4K/HDMI-1 input, and 2) set the output resolution manually via an autostart.sh script. I ran into this exact issue setting up for a friend, I'll try and get the exact config needed

one thing i thought of and i'm trying right now

i originally copied my backup file saved to my PC to the backup folder of openelec. that file is around 5gb, and i get the file is too big error. so i decided to just try and to go to factory defaults and restore my backup (getting rid of that big restore file) and hope the backup add on in kodi will work this time. it is at least running now and appears to run so i'm hoping it works.

Well that makes sense, not enough room for both the backup file and extracting it.

Fun fact: The Vizio P series have 5 HDMI inputs. 1-4 support 4k@30hz and HDMI 5 can handle 4k@60hz with 4:2:0 chroma. I can't get the ChromeBox to do ANYTHING on HDMI 1-4. It won't boot and my HDMI unplug plug in trick doesn't work. It never gets video.

I know, it's because it's advertising that it supports 1080p at 120Hz, so that's what the Chromebox gives it, but then doesn't accept. You have to manually set it to 1080p60. The Chromebox doesn't support 2160p60 4:2:0 over HDMI 1.4a

You can go in via ssh and check the supported output resolutions, the current resolution, and set it manually via xrandr

I'll look into this. Do you think manually setting the output would fix the booting issue? (I'm only familiar with Linux) Doesn't booting occur before it reads those files? Like it won't get to the sea bios screen let alone past it to read the Linux xandr settings right?

It's likely booting but you're not seeing any output. Check your router for an IP assignment and then try to ssh in

Is my only choice to wait, or is their another mirror I can use?

yep, this worked like a charm. i'm up and running scanning in media now. gotta say your script couldn't have been any better or easier to use. anxious to see how much faster this is compared to my nuc.
