[OLD/CLOSED] PseudoTV Live - Set-Top box solution
Guidedata update failed, won't load playlists at all. EPG scrolling is lagging and taking 7-8 seconds just to scroll down one channel.

http://xbmclogs.com/paa3dvjoc
PTVL won't load past updating the seasonal channel.
Do Youtube channels via Search still work?

Code:
"5" Search Query w/SafeSearch = Search pattern or term, examples (Football+Soccer) & (Football Soccer). For SafeSearch use one of the two options (moderate or strict), No option disables SafeSearch ! Example: (strict|Dick+Cheney).

All my other channels and youtube channel types work but the "Search" based ones have not worked since the update from youtube breaking a while ago.
I see that Donor is back, but community doesn't seem to want to turn to 'True' ...

Youtube channels (well, nothing beyond local media) will be added. Made the mistake of Autotuning and lost anything that wasn't on my media drives. Sad

Thank you Lunatixz!

Since the start of using ptv i have an issue which i think is very strange. So far i have found a few hints on what the problem might be. My issue right now is:

When program my channels and lets say put in a plugin like dumpert (dutch video plugin) or worldstar hiphop plugin which both use short videos as content. The ptv epg tends to set a 60 minute block for each video. This results in the constant looping of a video with a runtime of 5 min. So it loops the 5min vid for 60 minutes. This is not what i want and i cant understand why ptv doesnt see this. I set short videos setting to OFF. The only plugin that works is vice which usually has long vids but also the shorter vids are STACKED and played after eachother in stead of looped. I think this has to do with the way the plugin puts out the video lenght in nfo format or something and sends the correct runtime to ptv

Hints i found:

- runtime isnt correctly given by the plugin
- ptv doesnt support my plugins.

Anyone knows a solution?
Ita maybe possible to make a playlist for the vids in my plugin and add it to the channel epg. But this is a weird workaround and i cant even add plugins to a smart playlist.

Is it me or is this a huge overlooked problem. Pls help asap

Cheers
Huge overlooked problem for whom?

Sounds like you need to contact the developers of the video plugins, ask that they included accurate duration information with their list items.

Runtime can't be faked... PTVL needs to know how long an episode might be....

As for smartplaylists, Kodi only supports media from its database.

thanks for your reply, im sorry i didnt see my post was double posted. I will try to contact the plugin developers and ask if they didnt include correct runtime listings. The plugigns are very lightweight and may not be that comprehensive. But they should at least include correct listing. Iwill upload my kodi log shortly with a screenshot of my EPG
For some items Pseudo TV seems to be unable to determine the video length:

The videos in question end up being excluded from PTV channels while they can be played from within Kodi library. What can I do to help solve this?

usually a sign of improperly encoded media.... but i'll look into what alternatives I can use to find file duration.

I tried using PseudoTV Live based on your recommendation in another thread as an EPG for USTVnow. I installed both USTVnow and PseudoTV live addons from your repo. After the install I open the PseudoTV Live addon settings and change it to raspberry pi, enable autotune, and check USTVnow. Then when I run PsuedoTV Live I get a "Guidedata Update Failed!" popup in the lower right corner and then a PseudoTV Live error message "unable to load channels". What am I doing wrong?

The free ptvlguide will go offline in three days, and online for donors with the next update.

Guidedata is a donor only feature now. Are you a donor? Also, I took a look at your log file, and your ptvlguide file looks like it's a zip when it should be an xml file.

Edit: Since you're using windows, I tried to duplicate your guidedata failure on my windows PC ( I use Linux for Kodi) and I got the same problem. Works well on my Linux computer though, you should post your log file in the bug section if you're a donor having this problem.
Brevity should never equate to rudeness.
Plugin Channel issues.

1. Is there anyway to pull ALL videos from a plugin, or at least more than 1000? Specifically I am pulling all the videos from a huge youtube channel, and it is only taking the first 1000, instead of taking them all. It is a problem with every addon though, because it doesnt just select a random 50 from the plugin listing, it will instead select the first 50 it finds, then randomize it. I used to edit the files to make it pull more, but that becomes a hassle doing it after every update. This leads to my next issue.

2. I can't get plugin channels to shuffle. They seemingly grab the 50-200 videos, then play them in alphabetical order or the way they are listed in the plugin. I obviously have the channel set to random, and I have tried to force random mode. This was never a problem before. I simply want it to select random videos from a plugin directory, then shuffle them.

3. I am trying to make a podcast channel pulling from the Apple Podcast plugin, and it simply doesnt play anything. This was working somewhat prior the last update.

Playback issues:

1. I have all my channels full of .strms from various sources, and it tends to change channel when changing to the next episode, and im not sure why. Like it will change to the next show on the title/description, but it changes the channel, so the display is wrong. No idea, why this is happening.
Can someone help me?

I've mentioned before that artwork never loads for local media TV Shows (information bar and EPG) and others have had the same issue. Kodi and extendedInfo.Script have no problem but it gives PTVL a hernia.

Every time a new update comes out I'm excited to see the improvements (which fix many issues) but I have to run the update every time I load PTVL even if it's in the same Kodi session. Most of the times when I exit Kodi if I've run PTVL sometime in that session it freezes and has to be closed by task manager. Can there be some management for exiting that cancels active threads and when a plugin doesn't load or if everything isn't 100% loaded? Cant' it timeout and bring me back? Is it just me or is everyone trying to get live TV on their computer? Why go through all this work ? Just buy TV! If it's just me than I'll look harder into my configuration but I've seen similar issues in this thread that go ignored.

If you don't have any answers for me than just some reasoning will suffice.

If you have a local tv show folder containing subfolders with seasons (season 1,season 2....)then you should have a landscsape.jpg inside every subfolder in order PTVL to load it.I think,at the past PTVL used to load the landscape.jpg from the main folder covering all the seasons. Now i believe it's better because you can have different artwork for each season.
Can't remember from which version and over this has changed

Hope it helpsSmile

I am having the same problem trying to integrate USTVnow and use PTVL as an EPG for that. Guidedata does not load. If I donate, will I be able to get this to work on my RPi2? How much is a donation and for what time period does it last? I could not find this information in the FAQ. Help would be appreciated, thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I do not have any landscape.jpg folders at all since I rely on the Kodi database that has a thumbnail for every episode and the TV Show. I thought PTVL would tap into that.to display the same information. I did try adding a landscape.jpg and it worked. That's fine for EPG but when I bring up show information it would be nice to use the same thumb that Kodi already has. So do I need to find a jpg for every show on every channel or is there a setting in Kodi to create them?
