[OLD/CLOSED] PseudoTV Live - Set-Top box solution
I am having issues install the plugin. It just stays on the "downloading 0%" and i have waited for 8 minutes and it does not download, is there any advice? i have installed the PseudoLibrary no problem my Kodi did freeze when first installing the plugin

EDIT: it has been 30 minutes and still no progress and i had an internet speed of 15 Mbps
Ok, so the movie thing is still ocurring.

For some reason when I change to a channel that's playing a movie the movie will start from the beggining, I suspect it has something to do with external subtitles, maybe with "unicode" subtitles or subtitles with éáí characters on them, etc. But again it's just a supposistion.

I couldn't paste the log in any of the pastebin or similar sites, so I'll upload it.

I have all my media shown from Kodi, and updated the library. PTVL populated channels and found all my media previously without problem, and has done it once before on this particular setup too (was shuffling between various OpenELEC builds before), but I decided to just redo the channels.

I'm working on trying to get a log, but I'm having trouble with it. I'm using Arch ARM on a Pi 2 and kodi-rbp, and according to the debug text, Kodi says the log is in /var/lib/kodi/kodi/tmp (or temp), but anything past /var/lib/kodi doesn't seem to exist (and the only things in that folder are 3 crashlogs according to ls).

When that happens to me, I force a channel reset and start over. I have 91 channels set to auto-update. Sometimes, it'll get to 20 and stop. I'll just exit and reload PTVL and it'll finish up.

I disabled Background Updating and reset the channels again, tried Autotuning, and it seems to stop on processing a rule on Channel 3. Here's my log: http://pastebin.com/bZTJP4tw

Hey guys, I love the concept of this plugin but I am running OpenElec and it does not work well on it. So I actually only use it for ONE channel... A community Youtube channel called "the knowledge channel". But the problem is that with the constant updates to PTVL, it is constantly breaking and only works about 30% of the time.

Is there an easier way to add this Youtube channel to Kodi, as I only want this ONE channel anyway? I am not even 100% sure how that channel is created, but I think it is a multi-stream channel somebody must have made? I have no idea how to get access to it NOT through PTVL or how to add it to Kodi.

Any ideas will be GREATLY appreciated. Smile

How is this question related to PseudoTV Live?

Sorry the "constant updates" are bothersome to you, I'd suggest you uninstall PseudoTV Live immediately.
Please refrain from hijacking this thread... if you are not willing to support and help the development of this plugin, please go elsewhere.

Thank You.

I'm curious about the decision behind using landscape images rather than fanart. In terms of file size they seem to be the comparable.

However about a third of my movies don't have landscape images whereas all of them have fanart. And since most skins use fanart images, most people already have them downloaded in their image cache. If ptvl used fanart there would potentially be less hits on fanart.tv (I imagine my ptvl keeps hitting fanart.tv every time it encounters a movie where I don't have a local landscape image. Most likely it ends up not finding one on there either.)

Just curious about what makes landscape images better for ptvl.

Thanks

I use landscape because that's what I prefer and I'm the skins designer Tongue

PTVL is designed to use fallbacks when the primary art isn't found.... Ie. Landscape falls back to fanart.

Has nothing to do with extra hits, sounds more like I broke the fanart caching function... Easy fix
I figured out the issue. Artwork downloader saves the images named as fanart.jpg
Kodi exports images with the name filename-fanart.jpg

PTVL only looks for fanart.jpg and does not see filename-fanart.jpg

I used artwork downloader to download fanart with the overwrite setting turned off. It ended up replacing all my fanart in my library because it ignored the filename-fanart.jpg and thought I didn't have any fanart.

Now PTVL does fall back to fanart but I ended up with messed up artwork :-(

I'm planning on going back to the original ones but could you add support for the filename-fanart.jpg naming convention? Technically it is the official kodi way.

Thanks

No, sorry I only support the conventional naming scheme: http://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:Artwork_Dow...onventions
Its a pretty standard format, almost all mediainfo utilities I use default to this scheme.

BTW I think you are misinformed.... I do not believe its the default kodi way...

I have no problem supporting THIS or any other project. I even donated to you. However, you don't seem to have much interest in "support" from people. If people tell you that the plug-in isnt working, or that it does not work on their system, you reply with "who cares? It works on mine". You seem to be interesting in making a plugin that is ONLY tailored to you and you alone, and that is fine, you have EVERY right. But you tend to play it off like you are interested in some feedback when all you do is complain and yell at people when they have any "suggestions" or "complaints" about your project.

I didn't come here to ask YOU for help, you have made it clear to EVERYBODY that you are not interested in a "community based" forum and support system. you USE a "forum" that is INTENDED to help people to help other people, and you hijacked it to spread your "It's my way or the highway" attitude. but "some" people may still have an interest in an open source community. It's not just for YOU to come here, steal another persons plugin, alter it and then make it practically unusable to EVERYBODY but yourself.

"Normal" developers do not force people to update and ONLY use "alpha" and "Beta" versions. They release "stable" versions and then give others the opportunity to use "beta". It is the PROPER format for development. If you are unwilling to LEARN proper development, you are destined to fail.

I like what you have done with another person's plugin, but if you make it unusable to people 90% of the time, what good is it? You would think as a developer, you would have an interest in feedback and making a plugin that would work for everybody. Instead, i think you just look for donations and help from everybody else to help you design a plugin that works specifically for YOU. And that is the EXACT definition of "hijacking" something.

Show a little respect to others and have some appreciation for open source software. It is NOT here ONLY for you to use and take and NOT give back. I've been a member of this community since 2005 and helped build it from the ground up, you walk in in 2011, steal some code and then try to shut down the entire concept of community development. Go get a corporate job at Apple if you are into the "my way or no way" concept but don't you even THINK of talking to me like that again. Show some respect and recognize that you are on a FORUM! One that you played NO part in building.

It actually lists both naming conventions. And when you do an export from the kodi library, which is a core function, it uses the movie-filename-fanart.jpg

Anyway, I can figure out how to hack it to work now that I identified the problem. But it also means that it won't work for people who keep all movies in one folder.

Correct... And if you read my documentation from day one I stated I will only support conventional naming schemes. Which requires separate folders...

Random shows and movies ending before they should. Sometimes 30 seconds after it starts, sometimes with a lot of time left in the program. Can someone help me? It happened near 8:40 pm in the log.
