Release CinemaVision: Create a Movie Theater Experience at Home
(2015-09-12, 15:04)Carl314 Wrote: Scott,

I get an error each time I try to launch CV (using v 0.35, first version I’ve tried).

I tried launching it from both the information screen (using Aeon Nox: Silvo skin), and it returned an error.

Then I tried the method in the video in post #1: queuing the movie and going into the add-on, launching CV, then hitting Play Sequence from the context menu. Nothing happened.

Cheers, Carl.

Same here with v 0.35.... Beta v 0.33 worked fine

For those of you having these two KODI-related issues when running CinemaVision, please chime in on the threads below:

KODI Feature Request --> Ability to Suppress or Delay "Please Wait" and Progress Bar OSD

Description: "Running an add-on like CinemaVision can truly enhance the KODI home theater experience, especially when it's set up to play your own personalized home theater intros and video bumpers. When a sequence/video begins, however, KODI often diminishes the theater feel with a 'Please Wait' or progress bar that momentarily pops up. Would it be possible to add an option in KODI to either suppress or delay this portion of the OSD so that the user can define how long KODI should wait before the OSD pops up?"

KODI Feature Request --> Change Refresh Rate Only For Long Videos

Description: "I'm using CinemaVision and with multiple video bumpers/trailers that are anywhere from 23.976 to 29.97 frames per second. I am using a projector and need KODI to change the refresh rate so that the refresh rate only changes for the feature film, ie, to 1080/24p. A major problem, however, is that the projector takes up to 10 seconds to display a picture if the refresh rate is changed by a player. Since the video bumpers and trailers are 23.976, 25 and 29.97 fps and anywhere from a few seconds to 2.5 minutes in length, each time KODI attempts to change the refresh rate results in significant portions (if not all) of a video bumper and trailer not showing on screen. Is there any way to add a feature whereby we can tell KODI to only change the refresh rate for videos that are, for example, 5 minutes or longer?"

Scott, with respect to the second KODI feature request in my previous post, it is possible for me to insert a command module just prior to the feature film that would force KODI to switch from the default refresh rate of 60 Hz to a refresh rate of 23.976 Hz so that I can do true 1080/24p?

Honest question for you but why not convert all your bumpers and local files to 23.976 Hz? That would resolve your issue unless you use streaming trailers with CV. Myself, I don't stream anything so I think I'll be doing this even if it means I have to update a crap load of locally stored trailers.

Tried that already. Converting a video to 23.976 still results in jerky/choppy playback. If there's a way to convert a 25 or 29.97 fps video to 23.976 and have it play smooth at 24p I'm all ears.

I'd be using Adobe Premier to import the videos at any frame rate and then exporting as MP4 at 23.976 or even 24 myself. Not sure what other programs are "cheaper" to use that will allow the same ability. But the playback should be seamless if it's all the same and Kodi isn't changing refresh rates between them.

True story, XBMCLogs.com has been down all day long. It's been throwing timeout errors. That said, we can't look at logs posted there, so some of the bugs you all found haven't yet been addressed. For now, when you post a log, upload it to pastebin.com. I'm trying to find the guy that runs XBMCLogs.

Is there (or will there be) a way to skip to the next song during Trivia if there is a song you don't feel like hearing? The feature was there in CE, and it isn't a deal-breaker at all, but it would a nice feature. I think the keymap was Up Arrow, but I always used the multimedia key on my wireless keyboard.

That's not a feature we had planned, but I added it to our list of stuff to review for development round 2.

I dont recall this being brought up before - if it was forgive me please Smile

My trailer will not play if my directory structure is:
H:\Trailers\movie name\movietrailername.mov

However, if I move the movietrailername.mov to the root of the H:\Trailers folder, the trailer plays. Is there a limitation that we cannot create subdirectories with the specific movie title(s) under the trailers folder?

Sorry for the dumb question!

I'd like to make a request. After trivia I like to play short animation videos from my library. The 7 minute old classic Disney Theatrical shorts and such. I have a separate directory in my library for Animated Shorts and inside that directory each collection has it's own directory...such as Tom and Jerry, DIsney, Woody Woodpecker., Looney Tunes..etc. The problem is that the script only seems to read from the root directory. I know the trivia slides will read one level in so I was hoping that the custom directory field could read down one more level as well.

Two birds with one stone here. Let me start by saying there's no such thing as a dumb question. As for your question, japes, I must've forgotten to reply. The next version will recursively scan directories and catalog all of the content in each subdirectory as well. We actually added that in today.

The same problem as before. Sequence won't play Sad

LOG

While I can't read this log because the site is timing out, the problem you had last time was an issue with your network storage being unavailable, according to that log. If this is the same problem, you may want to start taking a look at the spin-down settings on your network storage to make sure it's not going to sleep or something. As soon as the site is up, we'll review this one and see what's up.

Hey Carl! As soon as XBMCLogs comes up we'll take a look at this. If you want to upload your logs to pastebin and repost, we'll see what we can see.

The command module won't allow you to set refresh. Even if that's something we added, it's something that Kodi actually handles on a per-video basis. We could set it in a command module, but then when the next video played, Kodi would just set the rate to whatever it deemed appropriate for that video. I think a feature request to Kodi is the right way to go to accomplish what you want.

Did you try to use Handbrake to convert the videos? Are you using an external player, or just the internal Kodi player?

That would be fine, as long as I could force 24p just prior to the movie. Correct me if I'm wrong, but what I'm hearing is that it may be possible to turn on "Adjust Display Refresh Rate"' via a command module just prior to the feature? If so, how?

Using Handbrake to convert to 23.976 fps.

My TV comes equipped with a 24p auto-detect feature that will automatically adjust the frame rate. Maybe yours has something similar?

The issue is not being able to enable 1080/24p on the projector, but rather the time it takes before refresh rate adjustments take effect. My projector will adjust to multiple frame rates and I only want it to adjust once during the sequence, namely, only for the feature film.

Scott, I recreated the steps above, except that this time nothing happened when I tried to launch CV from the add on screen. But the log file showing the error when trying to launch from the movie information screen is here: http://pastebin.com/hbfcuHDH

0.0.33 is still working for me.
One question though. Maybe a little off topic.
I want the "Cinema Vision Button" to have focus when opening Video Info. So I changed that in "DialogVideoInfo.xml" of Artic Zephyr. Worked fine. But I don't want to show the CV-Button at TV Shows. But when I exclude it for TV Shows no button will show up, since it should have the focus. Anyway to solve that?

I have done the backup as suggested and it worked great, except for one point. I am using Aeon Nox on both devices, when I make a bckup on the device I am cloning FROM everything goes as normal. When I am restoring the backup on the Clone TO, again everything normal, until I start Kodi. THe menus are scrambled, such as the System settings are under Music, Movies are blank, TV Shows appear as sports etc. I can change this manualy using System > Skin Settings... but his takes time. I have a few boxes that I need to do this on Any help appreciated. Using Isengard 15.1
