[OLD/CLOSED] PseudoTV Live - Set-Top box solution

I couldn't get MC2XML to work either, but ZAP2XML is working great for me too.

I can't get either of those working. mc2xml creates an xmltv file for me but it's always ~300MB and zap2xml sometimes creates the file. More often than not it just doesn't as it says -u is not a valid command. When I do get an xml file generated it never works though, even though I have PTVL pointed in the absolute correct directory to the xml file. 100% of the time says guidedata is unavailable. Haven't found a reliable way to get around this other than to fork over money.

Also having trouble getting YouTube streams working. Haven't found a guide showing how to do that. I select the option for channel as opposed to playlist and proceed to type in the ID. Tried typing in BBC Earth, didn't work. Tried copy/paste the actual url to the channel and that didn't work either. Will try a playlist tonight.

Also cannot get my concerts into a smart playlist to use as a channel. Playlist just comes up blank.

Also PTVL simply leaves out some episodes of certain shows. Not all but very randomly.

So I dunno if I'm missing some very basic steps or if PTVL is just broken in some regards. You're not the only one having trouble.
Anyone else having trouble creating plugin or UPNP channels? Since 0.6.7, I have not been able to create a plugin channel using the channel builder and a lot of exported channels no longer populate.

Did you set up both your XMLTV Name and Channel ID for each channel in Channel Configuration after you created your XMLTV file and pointed to the file?

I have the same problem.

There's a fix on the way. In the meantime, you can favorite the subdirectories of the plugins and upnp sources and create the channels using "kodi favorites" as your source.

@ happy users, already supported Lunatixz with a beer or two?
When I fired up Kodi to head into PTVL today, I was greeted with 'unable to launch, see logs for more information', after an apparent auto-update.

I unfortunately did not save the entire log snippet, but the important bit was:

ImportError: No module named resources.lib.Globals

I manually grabbed the Globals.py file as referenced earlier in this thread (somewhere in pages in the late-300s). Unfortunately this didn't solve the problem. I started poking around the file system further and noted that things seemed a bit ... sparse.

I decided to back up my userdata (just in case, as always!) and uninstall/reinstall the plugin. On doing so the system fully populated the files again. After checking once it was reinstalled, it seemed the 'update' missed a great many files, but reinstalling solved that part. This solved the problem for me, but I just wanted to leave this out there in case anyone hit the same hiccup. I didn't even have to restore my user data from backups - it was all left in place.

Hope this helps someone!

Yep. Double, triple checked and did that several times. Guidedata unavailable or if I use the autotune feature it asks to me pay to unlock it.

Use capital U as in -U not lowercase u when using zap2xml for it to output an UTF-8 xml file
Lunatixz - I've been meaning to thank you for fixing the "Start from beginning" feature so that it correctly handles media with chapters. Works flawlessly in all my testing and is a truly useful option IMO.

Additionally, thanks for including a configuration setting to control how far into the video before you get that option. I know you were previously opposed to having it be earlier than like half way through the video. I appreciate you keeping open mind on the matter and allowing for an earlier setting. I've already used it about a dozen times on movies. I never use the feature on TV episodes, but if I'm scrolling the EPG and good movie is on and is say 25% of the way into playing, I sometimes like to start it from the beginning.
Luna,

As always thanks for everything you have done.

When I try to update to the latest release Kodi says that the dependencies are not met. I must be missing something.

Also, any idea when the on demand feature will be working? With this edition there will pretty much never be a need to leave Psuedo TV. It will be functioning like a damn cable box but with my local media. In short it will be the shit!!!!

Gotcha. I copy/pasted from Luna's first post in this thread which has a lowercase u. He should probably fix that.

YouTube streams still don't work for me though that's another issue on its own. Will try to get a log tonight. Most channels from YouTube don't play giving a script failed error or they play the same video 24/7 or simply don't load into PTVL at all. YouTube playlists don't work or show up at all in PTVL.
Just a heads up from Twitter...

Sadness Sad I respect his decision, but it'll be lonely without the boss around.
