Android ZIDOO X6(Updated October 18st support 3D ISO framepacking via kodi)
(2015-10-15, 03:56)goujam Wrote: I seem to remember it took a while for mede8er to get 23.976 working after product release. But I'm not sure if that was promoted to work from the start though. Mede8er with kodi would be great though

It was supposed to be fixed when the med8er 1000x3d came out. But it was not, it took awhile for realtek to get an sdk out that fixed it i think it was about 5 months or so from the launch of the 1000x3d was an entire year though since the 1186 launched. But mede8er has done a good job on doing there jukebox support firmwares and adding what users want. Never were able to add some of the playback stuff users want but cant have everything. I dont think there is a single stb maker our there now that does in house dev work on the actual playback engines. With the exception of maybe Nvidia with the shield.

The grayscale is fine, but there are some serious color errors (dE>3).

A question: Is there a native video player in this box?

I noticed some strange color dominance on my plasma.....this is worrying....

Sorry, but I can't decide for a media player. I want a full 3d player, 24hz compatible and dts throughput. I'm between Himedia Q5/Q10, Zidoo X6 and older Mede8er 600/800 and Iconbit XDS1003.

What's better choose at this moment?

Hi Wesk05,

It's a very interesting report and I want to also check my media player on how they're good in terms of grayscale and colors.

I own Lumagen Mini3D and DVDO TPG signal generator too. How to check the color accuracy and create such reports with them?

Thanks in advance,
freebits.

Refresh Rates
60Hz - 60.001
50Hz - 50.001
30Hz - 30.000
25Hz - 25.000
24Hz - 24.000

All the numbers are from my trusty Lumagen Radiance video processor. I will get you the numbers from QD 980B analyzer later this week. These are actually pretty good. RPi2 is the only other box that I have seen that is spot on (This is my first RockChip box).

Grayscale and Color Accuracy
These are bit values of reference test patterns read directly from a pixel in the output HDMI signal using Color Checker function of DVDO AVLab TPG 4K UHD Pattern Generator. The patterns were played in Kodi that came with the box.

The grayscale is fine, but there are some serious color errors (dE>3).

You looking for a dedicated 3D media player for playing Iso, MkV....Mede8er (its plug and play)
No fancy jukebox or forced subtitles.

You looking for fancy jukebox with lots of personalized features- Kodi, but getting the right hardware is not easy.

But from what ive seen the chinese hardware soc chipset dont stay long enough in the market so the software catch up.

I would say get the mede8er for everything, and get a second android box for entertaiment, testing etc

Im using
OPPO 103 for 2D (reference)
Mede8er for 2D and 3D
Gecko dont use for anything because its buggy
Arriving this week the Shielded and X6 pro.

From everything I've been reading, I would say your are completely in line.
I would be interested in how your recommendations will change once you try/test the NVIDIA Shield.

Do you think X6 will be a good option when it solves 3d output problem?

If/when it does, then likely yes... provided 23.976 is also properly supported w/o artifacts or audio dropouts as side effect.

RULE 1: Don't buy a box on maybes and promises, this road leads to disaster, especially with Android. But purchasers still get suckered in time and time again.
Money would be better spent donating to the Kodi project itself if someone was going to do this.

Near bug free Firmware takes time, especially 23.976 support.

Finally, do I cancel my ziddoo x6 order and buy Himedia Q5?

Question.

1-What files are you trying to play on your media player(2D.mkv 3D SBS.mkv or 3D.ISO etc..) ?
3-What AV Reciever do you have?

If you can live with the issues I've noted in the chart here. No idea if HiMedia can fix, but right now Q5 > X6.

Firmware 1.03 is the one that introduced Color Checker function. You will put DVDO AVLab TPG in passthrough mode and enable the Color Checker function. You can then play reference test patterns on the device under test and move the Color Checker cursor with the remote to the image location that you need to measure.

Sorry the off topic
My cinema target and standards can be different from what other users want or need, but if the sound is not right, the picture alone can't do it by itself...
If you getting a cheap android Box , you get what it is....cheap PQ, and cheap Sound... and some bugs out-of-the-box.

Have you think in a Refurbished Oppo 103 (400$- to 450$) its has the best PQ 2D I've seen, you will need to extract your ISOs to MKV.. (I did it 200 Movies myself).
Guess what... cinavia doesn't work in MKV container, subtitles are flawless.. no jukebox ...but thats ok, when im watching the movie i couldn´t care less about the jukebox..
