This seem to be a common problem in windows and i have searched but couldn't find a proper solution for my case.
Set up HTPC (intel audio on cpu, no gpu card) -->onkyo r608-->panny vt60.
Its running windows 10.
So every time monitor goes to sleep and wakes up, the audio is gone and video resolution is messed up. Clearly looks like hcdp handshake is failing. sometimes restarting receiver works, other times have to reboot. Its not consistent. I have no other drivers installed. Using wasapi. In kodi i see direct sound and wasapi as options.
I read up on edid override thread, but my machine already shows 8 channel in sound and shows supported formats.
I was trying to read up on edid override but was wondering is that the solution for this problem at all given i don't seem to have the same symptoms they are discussing in that thread. Will adding a video card fix it , thereby avoiding intel cpu to handle the handshake. I thought of adding spdif to send audio but then realized that can't do hd audio.
So whats the solution to this nonsense. Having a dedicated htpc isn't working out for me at all. IT has become a constant annoyance. I have to quit koi, restart receiver, start kodi , test it out, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, then reboot.
Also sometimes in sounds, when i hit configure on th receiver device its says "failed to play the tone" if i select 5.1 , on stereo it works. I reboot receiver or pc then everything seems ok.
