While your having a look, I tried switching to Yahoo weather and the days are out of sync. Thanks.

Always happy to take a look Smile Just to confirm, you've enabled labels for the widget in question... (Selecting 'Panel' as the value for the 'Label' option for the widget)? (Always best to eliminate the obvious before spending time trying to track down a bug and then asking the overlooked question Smile)

(Days are out of sync in the widget...? If so, I'll happily take a loot at that. If its in the weather widget itself, then thats nothing to do with the skinshortcuts branch, and there are far more talented people than I who I'm sure will look into that Smile)
There isn't a label choice available. Another question if I may, will the option to use clear logo and such be available when choosing Default widgets?
YOYIZDERZOMENEMOHOZEZAZEZDENDERIZHOZEZ
You're right - looking at the code, it appears the label option isn't available for weather widgets but is respected. As a quick fix, change to any other widget (other than system information - which also doesn't have the label option), enable the label, then change back to weather. I'll fix the bug in the next day or two Smile

As regards art choices for widgets, and without going into too much detail, we've three choices as to how they are handled...

1. (Original intention of Skin Shortcuts when I re-wrote the code for the 'new' widgets implementation) - base the available art on the widgetType property, so all (for example) Movie artwork will always be available for Movie widgets, whether or not the widget actually supplies that artwork.

2. (As Mr. V has done in Nox 5: Silvo) - Override the widget groupings (the options you get when you select a widget) to return a different widget property for the default widgets, knowing that they will (generally) return all the artworks available

3. (An option that occurred to me whilst eating turkey but a day ago, but needs testing for speed + accuracy) - Use a hidden list to load the widget in the management dialog once selected, then let user choose the artwork that (say) the first 5 items in the widget actually have.

Whilst that probably sounds quite clear cut, it's actually more complicated than that, but that gives a good overview of the options. The final solution will be whatever the first person to get to writing the code manages to get working Wink
Great, thanks. The work around worked fine. One last thing. Will the widget font be selectable or changed?
YOYIZDERZOMENEMOHOZEZAZEZDENDERIZHOZEZ
Well, now someone has requested that it be selectable/changed, it might be Wink

The difficulty with making it selectable is that there's a limited amount of space and a certain amount of info that needs to be displayable before people start requesting the labels are shown below the widget Wink With the current fonts - updated just before the big day - two lines should fit perfectly, with a compact font so that a good amount of information can be displayed. As soon as you allow that to be selectable, the amount of information (and whether complete lines are shown) is anyones best guess, and so a potential nightmare to support Smile

As to changing it, if you have a better font suggestion, please fork the Skin Shortcuts branch and PR the updated font. Or if you're a code contributor - whether to MadNox or any other project (for obvious reasons, I'll try to limit this to those who are known to contribute to git projects, and therefore know how to do so) - let me know your github username and I'll give you push rights to the repo, so you can make the changes directly.
Sorry, Bob, poor choice of words on my part. Not wanting it to be selectable, just wondering if the font was going to be changed to one a little less "bland" (not sure if that's even a good description Smile). No biggie just thought I'd ask. Thanks again for the weather widget. Your work here is greatly appreciated!

Wink

(Actually, the point of the skinshortcuts branch isn't to mess with the the look and feel but the functionality, and so the widgets - which are Mr. V's widgets from Nox 5 Silvo transposed onto MadNox - use the closest equivalent of the fonts from the old skin to the new skin. So this is actually an area for Mr. Mad and Mr. Schimi to comment on Smile - and I've actually just realised I haven't given either of you push rights on the skinshortcuts branch, which I shall correct shortly!)
Ok, understand.
YOYIZDERZOMENEMOHOZEZAZEZDENDERIZHOZEZ
The days out of sync in the weather widget are not due to the latest skin upgrades.
They have been out of sync a week or better and so is the metadata.
I assumed something changed in a nightly that caused this because I have not updated the skin for a month.
Info view of weather using Confluence is whacked too.

Hi Mike and schimi,
the startup time is a little bit too long.
I have change the time in line 53 from the startup.xml
new entry:
<animation effect="fade" start="100" end="0" time="4000">Focus</animation>

can you change it in the github?

thanks

I'm seeing the same thing with Yahoo. Not sure it's a Kodi problem at all. As far as I can tell there haven't been any updates to the addon and I've been running 15.2 since it was released. The weather forecast just stopped updating last Tuesday. Current weather seems to be correct.

If it's just Yahoo maybe they have made a change to their API?

Bob,

I guess I am one of those who wants the labels below the widgets!

I noticed that in the Recent Episodes widget, the label only shows the episode name, and not the season nor episode number. Could those be added please? Thanks.

Regards,

Bart
My guess is there are a fair few who would like to see the labels underneath the widgets. And when I said that the skinshortcuts branch is about functionality changes, not look and feel changes, I probably should have said that that's what I'm in it for - inevitably with these changes, the look of some things will change, and if anyone wants to take on the job of moving the labels below the widgets... Wink

(Having said that, I understand there may be an update for both the Nox 5 Silvo and the MadNox/skinshortcuts branch widgets this week. I don't know what it will contain, but I do know that it will likely mean having to re-work any such changes!)

In the meantime, minor fixes to the widget labels - including hidden weather labels and episode numbers, are now on the skinshortcuts branch. And there's an attempt at reworking the widget artwork selection availability if anyone wants to test that Smile

Thanks Bob! Season and Episode numbers now show up. As to the weather widget labels, still not there, unless I do the workaround you mentioned earlier to bobrap (change to a widget with labels, and then change back to the weather widget). There is no possibility to select labels for the weather widget yet.

In regards to widget artwork availability, I am not sure what changed to be able to tell you if the change is working as you intended.

EDIT: I had forgotten to ask, are we still supposed to be using the "fix" branch from your Git of skin.shortcuts?

Regards,

Bart
