Please dont get this "skilled coding skills" wrong buddy... I mean MY coding skills with it - i have the biggest respect of the things you and the other coding guys here did! I just see such small things and can adjust some positions and fix some small things at max...

I really did have a bit too much beer when I made that mistake. I like to code and drink beer , and find it relaxing. I got to say coding the xml's are not that hard. Really if I can do it, anyone can with time and patience.

I wouldn't say I am a skilled coder by any means, 1 year ago I could not code anything within kodi (Probably too much free time and I like a good challenge, and probably past skinning efforts with mediaportal helped).

Good afternoon schimi and Happy New Year! I know this is probably a dumb question, but how can I get custom icons for the main menu items like you have in the post above? Is there an icon pack in the skin, or could you upload them somewhere for me to download? Thank you so much for your help.

sorry, i cant upload this special internal icon pack, because i use some not opensource icons there... i rebuild the most of them, but not all ( too lazy )

Please keep up the great work you're doing with this skin, you all seem to make an exceptional team.

I'm using the MadMikeDoc version of the Isengard skin from this link. To make things easier for the kids, I have customised the 'Movies' entry on the main menu, to show movie genres. However, my icons include the text such as Action, Drama, Comedy etc. so I wondered if someone could tell me what code I would need to alter to remove the floor label of the same text as shown below:



Also when viewing seasons of a TV show in Showcase view, even though I've selected no floor label, it still remains visible, as below:



Again if someone can tell me what code I need to change to get rid of this, and to what, I would be eternally grateful.

EDIT:
well, this problem is just when i choose Playlists> and then my playlist i made for the last 25 new added episodes in this category ( normal tv shows without cartoons or animes )
default episode widgets are working fine - dont know if this is possible to archive ... not such a big deal... i could live with it

Ok I can now replicate the issue. I have to think about how to handle this one. Going to have to change a few variables.

I would assume your playlist has the content set as TV Shows. If you set the content to episodes and reload the playlist via the context menu the issue should be no more.

EDIT: Updated Variables so it wont show a season/episode number if the content is TVShows.

Live backgrounds based on playlists are now available on the skinshortcuts branch. Please feel free to test and feedback, but note that they only work for main menu items (no selecting them for a submenu background - and this probably won't be available unless someone else wants to code it up as it complicates the code), and it will prevent any submenu background or widget fanart from showing up (this will be fixed when I've thought through the necessary visibility conditions.)

I also noticed in GitHub that you added the functionality for the "Oscars/Top 250 in Main Menu". I deleted the main menu options I had created myself for those, and then enabled the option in the customizer, but there was no change to the main menu, the options were not added.

Then I deleted the files in the addon_data/script.skinshortcuts folder and restarted Kodi, and the menu items were added. Is this the correct behavior? Do you have to "reset shortcuts" for the functionality to work?

To add any shortcut that isn't on your main menu, but that is a default main menu item for the skin (as Top 250 / Oscars now are - if the relevant scripts are installed) use the 'Restore Shortcuts' button in the menu customiser.

Sir Bob... i need to lift my hat ( live backrounds and oscars / top 250 seems to work realy nice after a quick check )

one request from me now... you guys add now soooooo many backround choices... can we group some of them maybe ? ( playlists A-Z, live backrounds ... well maybe everything with more then 4 variables ? ) ... never see so many options out there if now someone complain about not enough backrounds...

realy nice work sir bob ... the speed of the A-Team is so fast, i cant check that fast, making new images and mike_doc have some nice new ideas too... man, 2016 beginns with a lot of work XD

so everybody with GOOD experience with madnox and want to help... would be cool when more people could test now the "skinshortcuts-branch" and give as much detailed feedback as possible... more help would mean early merging to mikes branch

Nope, no way to group backgrounds. It's a good idea, though, so I'll add it to the feature requests for the Skin Shortcuts script itself.

From my perspective there's only one outstanding job for the skinshortcuts branch - the mixed widget (which won't be a quick job ). Mr. V may have some other widget-related tasks still to do, but I think we're getting close to being finished, so I'l like to join Mr. Schimi in encouraging testing of the branch.

Actually for most widgets there's no maximum at all now - there are as many widget boxes as there are items the widget you select provides.

If using playlists as a widget, you need to limit the number of items the playlist returns, and the same with library nodes. Widgets from addons can only be limited if the addon itself provides a way to limit the number of items (Library Data Provider does, for example.)

The widgets from the Skin Helper Service are a little different - the number returned is defined in the call to the script (and so in the skins overrides.xml file). Those widgets can be changed by editing userdata (wiki)/addon_data/script.skinshortcuts/skin.aeon.madnox.properties and changing the limit value for any widgetPath property provided by said script - so from:-
