I do not know about everyone else but for me the disappearing textures are minimal. It is VAR's going empty that seem to be the big issue now. The one that will always go empty after entering the music section is the DialogVideoInfo poster and play button label. Other things like ShowCase square for music not showing the album cover but again it seems to be VAR related... Haven't had a lot of time recently to delve into any troubleshooting or really anything skinning related

Honestly there isn't too much to do besides some leftover merging of xml files like MyPlaylist and I think the star ratings are using the old InfoLabels and probably not updated to use the new userrating labels or 10 stars instead of 5.

Updating to use the new infobool syntax also isn't done yet but SubString has to be done case by case because of the difference in left, right, startswith, endswith and my inability to wrap my head around regex patterns for a mass find & replace

What are you guys seeing regularly on your end? I likely do not use MadNox enough to notice missing skin textures but the VAR issue happens all the time... For me anyway.

This is still my preferred skin! Have you tried asking the Kodi team for help with the texture bug? Also I noticed sometiems my animated posters won't play and when going into the contex menu the option for selecting animated poster sometimes isn't there. It's random.

Thanks guys. I am seeing disappearing focused main menu item after using artwork downloader and some disappearing banner backgrounds in TriPanel view, but today I will test more and write back with specific steps I follow when the problems happen, so that you can hopefully trace some more.

Should I turn on debug logging when doing that and submit the log?

I've lost the last 2 weeks trying to understand if my portable krypton install is at issue or madnox for krypton itself. Some problems i'm having:

After menu and widgets loads i select movies and when view loads 90% of top bar,bradcrumbs, is gone and these are mainly LOCALIZE's.
Generally no matter the view on 1st load it has no fanart for every itemlayout poster so losing a LISTITEM here right away.

Just more of things like this, i was trying to update substrings here and there and other infobools. Tried to star the starrating change but my 1st try just wouldn't work!

Will give it another go, took tne lasr couple of days off as these issues i'm having are just frustrating.

I feel it must be my setup but can't resolve any of it and then it impacts trying to test krypton changes as i don't know whats is good or not?

One step forward. I made a complete new install of Kodi 17 nightly build and Aeon Nox Krypton and installed all stuff like explained in the post. This time i didn't upgrade my MySQL database from Kodi 16 and made a new
one. I scanned some movies an ran the artwork downloader.

If i go now to KodiFlix set view i have the correct set name and the correct covers and the correct count of disks but i have no cdart.
The option 'extra films' is working
If i switch to the 'old' set view i have the discs. So i assume the database is fine.

Now i go to the movie view. I use Kodiflix view. I use the layout 'default' open case are not working.
In this view i can enable disc art and i get the disks for the movies.
I switch layout to 'DiscArt' and i get all the disks. This is working fine.

So now i assume the upgrade from database Kodi16-->Kodi16 is not working correctly or my old database is a mess but i wonder why it's all working in Kodi 16.
The KodiFlix set view works except the disc art.

i just can confirm Docs results... first start all good - but access movie info - a lot of missing stuff ( poster, icons etc ) and a lot of topbar missing stuff ( just the centered images are always there )
basicly its working, but those missing " stuff " ( not only textures or images - also text ! ) is realy anoying... i stop working on it, until krypton is RC - after that they dont change much and just bugfixes ( i think they do it this way ... maybe changed it again ... RERO ) ... time will tell

Just to provide my test results, in case that they shed any light into what else could be done in Krypton:

First, I am using latest Krypton nightly (July 16th), latest MadNox Krypton branch from Mike S's GitHub and latest skin helper service and latest skinshortcuts (master branch from BigNoid's GitHub).

1. Start Kodi, wait for scripts to do their thing and weather to appear in info line, as well as library statistics. Go into Movies (I am using TriPanel view with banners). As you can see here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/im7hr27rczelka...9.png?dl=0

The top bar is missing textures/info.

2. Navigate through movie list, as you can see from the screenshot before, randomly a movie's banner will lose the background (in this case you can see it is "The Exterminating Angel"). Also, I am using colored mediaflags colored studios, etc., and you can see at the bottom right that the IMDb logo is superimposed with the numeric rating.

3. If I navigate back to the movie that had the missing background in the banner, as you can see here:

The background reappears. By the way, this happens in Jarvis too.

4. If I go into movie info, as others have mentioned, poster is gone as well as other info, as you can see here:

5. Reload the skin (using context menu on any movie), go back to video info and now everything is back, as you can see here:

6. Go back to main menu, and now the focused option's icon and text have disappeared, as well as images on the widget, as you can see here:

The focused option there is TV Shows. One important point to make here is that it doesn't matter how many times you reload the skin after that, the focused main menu option icon and text do not reappear until you restart Kodi.

7. One last point i wanted to make is that at no time does the texture behind the context menu or the shutdown menu disappear, as you can see from these:

Hey folks. Installed the Krypton version of the skin Sunday. Upgraded Kodi v16.1 on my windows pc to the latest Alpha. Downloaded this skin and put it in the folder etc..
Booted up and menus popped up fine (same as 16.1) only thing i did notice and i oly had a quick look is that in my tv library i use and like the netflix view. If i choose to have it centred then the box is in the right position but th ebackground image isnt. ( in know, ill get a screenshot late) but if someone can double check and confirm that would be great

It hasn't worked for some months now and I quite liked this info.
The Discography isn't working anymore either.

Colordiffuse was only ever going to help when using a VAR in a colordiffuse tag instead of a texture tag attribute. The missing top bar, breadcrumbs, and pretty much everything else mentioned is all VARs going empty related.

I think it is a Kodi bug after reaching either that property limit or some kind of issue increasing memory use in the skin and then dropping things randomly. It is 100% a VAR issue and seems to hit MadNox but not any other skin I have used.

Starting to think the only way to fix it is to do a major cleanup and combine views while using more includes and PARAMs to lessen the code.

@schimi I tried to package up the skin textures to an XBT file to test if that would help with anything but got a lot of warnings about many of the images can you take a look? I can provide the error message but will have to run texturepacker again because I forgot what it said

Some other items to report after updating to latest Krypton nightly and latest code from GitHub:

1. Once you reload the skin one time, the top bar/breadcrumbs do not disappear again.
2. Using colored icons/mediaflags, different color text, etc. has no bearing on the problems reported, they are still there.
3. If you select the option of "Larger focused main menu item", the large icon is shown always for the focused menu option, even when the text and other textures are not shown.

Hopefully some of this is useful.

Mike S and Mike D, are there any "search and replace" tasks you think I could do in the code so I can help more? I am more than willing to take those on, including putting comments in the code for whatever you ask me to change. Please let me know. Thanks.

first - yeah, we can be realy happy to have bsoriano in our family more than just a helper

second - because of the textures ... i was testing it too, and i dont get any errors, but my result is always a 0b file so i give it up after a while - if you have a error log of the files, i can check them... i just know about some gfx ( old ones ) that where a PNG but named as JPG ... maybe something like this will make this problems ( still on renewing some gfx ) ... and with a logfile i can resave the problemfiles and test again

STILL Mega THX for your help buddy...because of those "possible" Krypton/Kodi/Madnox bugs we wanna wait until a RC candidate of krypton... but when i see some GIT Comments of KODI DEVS ( and all of the bad mojo there with leaving devs etc and a lot of fighing... ) i dont think our problem would be fixed for krypton ( and if you ask me personaly... maybe never )

so right now its a bit sit and wait ( at least for madnox ) and just hope that there will be maybe some progress one day
