4:2:2 output can only be 12-bit as per HDMI specs. If you set it to 10-bit, on reboot there will be no video output.
4:2:0 is allowed only for 50/59.94/60Hz at 2160p as per HDMI 2.0 specs. If you select 3840x2160/4096x2160 50/60Hz, you will see 4:2:0 as an option.
So, I'm kinda confused over all the combinations w/4K. Basically, 10- vs. 12-bit, chroma subsampling, FPS, and where HDR works/doesn't.

this YouTube video that explains chroma subsampling. I get that we ideally want 4:4:4, but that isn't possible either because of the display device or media player limitations.
With 10- vs. 12-bit, isn't any practical, real world 4K content (whether UHD Blu-ray, Netflix 4K, etc.) mostly 10-bit? So, why are we talking about 12-bit?
Next, there are various framerates and what the display device or media player can/can't support. Again, for 4K, are we really talking about 23.976/24/25/50/59.94/60 needing to be supported by a 4K media player? At 4:2:0 and at best 4:2:2?
Now, while I'm still trying to get my head around all of the above, I've been wondering about buying the Epson 5040UB projector, and getting confused by what this means (posted by projectorcentral.com) w/regards to Zidoo X9S or HiMedia Q10 Pro, or even 4K streaming services on Shield and Roku Premiere+/Ultra:
Appears that Epson 5040UB can display 4K HDR for 23.976/24 (most film-based content) fully, up to 4:2:2 and 12-bit (
even though source content, whether UHD Blu-ray or 4K Netflix is really 4:2:0 and 10-bit?).
Anyway, this stuff makes my head spin... and I'm an A/V enthusiast. Think more than 90% of consumers trying to understand and adopt 4K will be totally lost.
