Android Zidoo X9S (X-series) 4K HDR / 3D / HD Audio / ZDMC (Kodi fork): Review & Use
Zappiti doesn't have a own forum. In the past they had, but it's closed. It takes to much time to moderated and answering questions.
@sloth, what are the improvements between the Kodi 16.1 and 17?

I think the user interface is an improvement, it looks nicer and the new VideoPlayer enables addons to pass video streams to Kodi.
Here is a complete list: Kodi v17

My other issue with the X9S is the remote. I have to use Flirc because the box sits in another room connected via USB cable. I can control ZDMC and the external player via simulated keyboard strokes but in the Android user interface I run into problems with the context menu and back button. Does anybody have a solution for this?

I have Kodi V17 on my laptop for testproposals. The GUI look almost the same (Aeon skin)

I use a MX3 flymouse. Yesterday i installed Box RX on my android phone. This works great. For example i can play another music video when i'm in a another room.

I have stuttering problems with 2160p content. My Settings are 2160p/60hz/AUTO/AUTO and Sync 23,976. Many Videos are stuttering, other videos play fine. Playing with native Player
Can someone test this file and can give feedback? Test Sample

I'm very happy with my X9S, both ZDMC and Kodi 17 playing outstanding, 4K 3D no problems. This unit works awesome for Kodi and should not receive the negativity it gets on here. Its a $100 unit....its a bargain with a support team. Understanding your settings to match your file is a must on any player, some want to install firmware from another boxHuh WTF is up with that....IMO if you are new and are looking for a nice unit to run Kodi ( That is why we are on this forum) and a few APK's, the X9S or X8 work well.Peace out

This is a know problem with 2160p files.

If you enable 23.9x it stutters for 2160p content not matter what resolution you set on the unit.

Hello folks! Just a quick question for this particular player... Does this support Wi-Fi transfer from PC to the external USB HDD? As in the external USB hard drives connected to the Zidoo X9S allow writing files to it? That's always been the biggest problem for me with regards to Android-based players. I like having most of my videos stored locally and uploaded wirelessly through the network.

Absolute rubbish, it is the setting Auto or 4:4:4 in color space that causes the problem.
I have resolution set to 2160@60hz, color space set to 4:2:2 with 10bit and 23.97 active and have no stuttering from 2160p files, banding due to 4:2:2 yes but no stuttering.

Hmm, is Zidoo behind Zappiti's new players?

I doubt it. I believe it is more like issues that are sorted with the help of Realtek techs. Since the hardware is identical, I am sure they both run into the same issues.

I think RealTek is working on all their hardware, they provide the same update for everyone.
Now I need to find a way to flash the Zappiti Firmware on the Zidoo w/o bricking it

Believe you guys are right... makes sense with the turnkey solution Realtek takes. So, features/functionality improvements should be available to all players using this chip, with the minor differences just being the launcher, other s/w variances by each manufacturer.

I have tried all combinations with 23.97 and I still get stuttering. Disabling 23.97 works fine with no judder.

I also noticed that enabling 23.97 sometimes change the resolution to 1920 x 1080p@60Hz after you stop the playback (If you set the HDMI to auto).

So just because it works for some may / should not necessarily work for others.

How does the flymouse remote work? Does the USB dongle include an IR receiver? I have to use an USB receiver because my X9S is located in a different room. Can you control all X9S functionality including ZDMC with it?
Is there an iOS alternative for Box RX?
