OK, be aware that on Android there is no local playback through Kodi.
Instead it will control the spotify android client by sending Spotify connect controls.
Please let me know how that works for you.

If wanted I can also implement a fake "now playing" screen in Kodi that mimics that it is playing when spotify is outputting audio

The current version works as expected UNTIL shown in OSD. There it usually crash Kodi after a couple of minutes. I don't know if this will fix my issue.

I'm testing with a Milhouse Krypton LibreElec (LibreELEC-Generic.x86_64-8.0-Milhouse-20161129210859-#1129-ga26112d) on an Intel NUC.

Everything from Sptofy shows up nicely, local playback works/plays great from a local NAS but cant start anything to play from Spotify, thats results in an error.

Maybe I should upgrade to a newer Milhouse build but that would mean a Leia version.

Can you provide me your Kodi log file? Please grab it after you tried to playback some track

Thanks for the logs. I just found out that playback is indeed failing on some occasions.
Will post updated version later today.

What version are you talking about ? The new 1.1.x version or the previous version ?
If you're talking about the new version and you see crashes, please provide me your kodi logfile

I was talking about the previous version. I haven't gotten to testing the brand new yet. But I will come back to you after I've done so.

New version 1.1.5 is now on the repo:
- fixes playback on linux machines
- improved speed
- fixes the authentication errors (token expired)

Please test and let me know!

If you're having issues, please report what version of Kodi and what sort of machine you're testing the addon with.
Also a log snippet from any error(s) is very useful or even better share the entire log if it shows errors from the spotify addon.

Can you check the log for errors please? If the addon settings opens, this means there was no authenticated session.

1.1.5 installed on 2 Intel NUC´s now, both working very very nicely.

The other is using Krypton (LibreELEC-Generic.x86_64-8.0-Milhouse-20161129210859-#1129-ga26112d)
and the other the very latest Leia one from today (LibreELEC-Generic.x86_64-9.0-Milhouse-20170601210326-%230601-gc6a4377).

marcelveldt, amazing work, thank you again.

1.1.5 playback works (not tried very long)

Spotify connect shows up on my Android Spotify, but never connects, then disappears and only comes back when I restart Kodi, but again never connects.

Windows 10 x64 Kodi 17.3 (non store)

Is the android player connected with the same spotify credentials ?
At this time I don't support discovery, especially not on Windows.

Did you enable the setting for connect control in the addon settings ?

Please check the kodi log if there's an error logged in there after you tried to connect with your android player.
