Intel Apollo Lake
short question: is a apollo lake cpu powerfull enough for software–decoding 720p or 1080p h264-videos?

For the average 1080p24 8 mbit/s yes.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Why software decode though on an Apollo Lake?

thanks and yes, your guess is correct!

#0924i is a LibreELEC 9.0/Kodi 18a1 build based on intel-drm-nightly (6aa0df3): Generic

#0924i is the same as #0923, but using the 4.14-rc1 intel-drm-nightly kernel instead of 4.13.3. I used PR:1991 to switch from 4.13.y to 4.14-rc1 (including updated kernel config), then applied this patch to switch to tip of intel-drm-nightly. There were no additional kernel config changes required.

intel-drm-nightly already includes the HBR and ELD patches, so PR:2002 is not needed for this build.
Texture Cache Maintenance Utility: Preload your texture cache for optimal UI performance. Remotely manage media libraries. Purge unused artwork to free up space. Find missing media. Configurable QA check to highlight metadata issues. Aid in diagnosis of library and cache related problems.

EDIT: HD audio passthrough still not working with Denon AVR-4311ci Sad

I tested this build :
LibreELEC-Generic.x86_64-8.2-devel-20170920052711-r26080-g1f866eb
On my NUC7i3BNH connected to Yamaha 469 receiver that supports DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD but still not working Sad
BIOS is updated to the latest V.52 from Intel, what am i missing ?

Most likely what wesk05 analyzed.

These specs and much further infos can be found under 33.4.6.1 in the following document:

Thanks Milhouse! This build also shows the same N/CTS error. To positively say this N/CTS error is indeed the problem, I will have to replicate this with an AVR that doesn't play HD audio. I will see whether I can find one.

Sure! you will be able to find it in other documents. I copied the image from a document that is considered confidential and that's why I said I will not leave the image up permanently.

I have a Denon AVR-3133 with an Intel NUC6CAYH running. Using the same amplifier, HD audio passthrough (DTS-HD, DD+, Dolby TrueHD) works with an Intel NUC5PPYH and LibreELEC 8.x

With the Intel NUC6CAYH, HD audio passthrough (DTS-HD and DD+) works with the following LibreELEC versions:

LibreELEC-Generic. x86_64-8.2.0-2017092015153419
LibreELEC-Generic. x86_64-9.0-Milhouse-20170921210317-#0921-g5a1b34f
LibreELEC-Generic. x86_64-9.0-Milhouse-2017092303030442-#0922-g5ab8b2a
LibreELEC-Generic. x86_64-9.0-Milhouse-20170924084418-#0924i-gea8fa96

Dolby TrueHD does not work with any of the above LibreELEC versions.

HD audio passthrough (DTS-HD, DD+, Dolby TrueHD) works under Windows 10 on the same NUC6CAYH.

Is there anything I can do to help with testing or analyzing?

The LSPCon is different in the Skull Canyon (Parade Technologies PS175) and the NUC7 (MegaChips). Don't know why that would be important, but it's good to understand maybe.

Hi all!

I have an NUC7i5BNH and a Samsung HW-K950 soundbar who supports Dolby TrueHD, I want to test the HD audio passthrough and I wounder what LibreELEC version I should test with?
Anyone have link so I can contribute with the test of the samsung bar.

Best regards
