Dear Kodi users,

I own a LG OLED65EF950V which is a gorgeous TV but........whenever i play movies/tv shows which are 24p i have some judder in specific scenes like panning, cars driving by etc.
I was wondering if any of you here also have a OLED tv and experiencing the same issues, do you have a solution?

I read that LG only plays 24p the way it should when you turn ON the 'Real Cinema' option on the TV.
Im not a fan of all these options so i was wondering what i can do.

Im running Kodi on a Nvidia Shield, both the device and software are up to date.

Make sure you have enabled framerate switching in the playback settings so that Kodi is actually sending 24fps to the TV.
Also ensure you have enabled Mediacodec(surface) and Mediacodec in the playback settings too.
The OLED should have TrueCinema turned off and pretty much everything else too (MPEG noise etc).
Set Nvidia Shield Display setting to recommended one (or whatever is appropriate for your TV - ideally 59.94fps 3840x1920 10bit rec2020 (or Rec709 if not HDR capable).

That should result in judder free pans, if framerate is the issue.

p.s. Note that if you are viewing 4K HDR content you might have coloursapce issues (see my ticket below)

Thanks man! I will try out these settings...
I use the IFS Expert 1 settings on the LG and TrueCinema is turned 'on' but greyed out so i cant turn it off. 
Is this because of the Expert setting or because of the signal its getting from the Shield?

The TV framerate is switching to 24fps, when i click the info button while playing a movie/tv show it says 24p.

So i managed to turn off the "Real Cinema"...indeed there is no studder/judder anymore but i find the panning etc somewhat laggy, you like see every inch the camera is moving, its not fluent.....maybe because im used to the Real Cinema effect.
I read somewhere that 24p is shown best when 'Tru Motion' is ON but both settings are set to 0. Something about the software i read on a website/forum somewhere.

So i did and i think this is the way i want it and how im the most pleased when looking at a movie/tv show.

Are there people using the same settings? Will it help letting my OLED officialy calibrated??

You should set it how you prefer to be honest.

I keep True Motion turned off, because I don't like the effect it produces and prefer to see the original frames as they were, but especially if you watch sport you probably want it turned on.
I have self-calibrated my own TV's and that is independent of the frame interpolation that is going on with such settings.

One other thing that comes to mind is that LCDs have slower pixel change times and you can see more blurring if effects are turned off.
OLEDs are faster at switching, but do still "Sample and Hold" unlike Plasma's and CRTs which "flashed" a pixel briefly and let the eye and brain figure out the flow.
There are techniques like black frame insertion that can help, but they drop perceived brightness and there are other down sides.

Bottom line, it might take you a while to get used to the "as the director" intended view of a movie, but if you watch a lot of sports turn on True Motion.

'as the director' intented view? When a camera slides/pans next to a wall, im sure its intented to happen fluently without a, i dont know how to call it, slight stepping wise right? (maybe i need to upload a movie of a scene and point out the differences)
With the True Motion on but De-Judder & De-blur both set to 0, it all seems smoother.

When i turn up these settings, then i get that Soap Opera effect which is ugly as **** haha...
