I have just tested the version compiled on 9th of January on the smartphone armv8-a running Android 7.0 and Kodi keeps skipping frames

Same here. Using latest nightly, and it skipping frames watching Live-TV on Sony Bravia and also on Mi Box 3.

No workaround?

I have tested last build and the playback is the same, is not as smooth than 21th build.
We have to wait.

Thanks

Agree. 21th is the last build that is of any use.

try the 64 bit version , it should work fine with you on Android 7 and s912

Well...I had not tested it before but build 12/21 seems to have the most stable video so far, box  Vorke Z1 with Android 7.1.1 API level 25, kernel: Linux ARM 32-bit version 3.14.29 cpu amlogic S912

Yes, I supposed that as well but every time that I try to install the 64 bit version the app installer, after trying to install always respond at the end "incorrect version" however it installs the 32 bit with no problem, by the way, any idea why this happen?

Can reproduce the issue also the latest build kodi-20180115-18f76aba-master-armeabi-v7a.apk will not fix the issue. Still happy with the 21st release.

Please test http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/andro...bi-v7a.apk
This is master built with the old toolchain, so that we can pinpoint or exclude a toolchain issue
