I've just switched over from xonfulence skin to aeon nox silvo. When I go to add categories the box doesn't appear to allow me to add categories. This also happens if I try to add a new channel to an existing category..no channel list comes up
Is this something you need to look at, or would it be skin related....i'm thinking the later, but just want to check with you first

 I can't help too much right now. I have flu.

This has come up a few times recently. I suspect it might be a clash with texture ids or similar.

It does work on a clean install of kodi, then install aeon nox, then install tvgf.

I would recommend you back up your addon_data\script.tvguide.fullscreen folder completely into a zip somewhere safe.
The uninstall tvgf and install it again. Maybe even uninstall aeon nox too.

Did try uninstalling, but that had no effect.
Error log mentions it needs more than 1 value to unpack.
No rush, i will just manually edit the ini files for now

Post the bit of the log about script.tvguide.fullscreen and the 1 value to unpack. I don't need the whole log.

You usually get that message with something strange in the ini files like extra : or = characters or even empty lines.

The addon_data\script.tvguide.fullscreen\categories.ini file is the one that must be stopping the categories functions.
Have a look in there and make sure it is a simple list of "Channel Name=Category" pairs with no extra = or :

All it was in the end was that I had a channel name, but no =, or pairing

hey guys, no matter what i do i keep getting the oops error message. i use another xmltv source and it works but when i use my primary source it just gives me the error message. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance guys.

 There is something wrong with your xmltv file or the database is corrupt.
Backup your addon_data\script.tvguide.fullscreen folder somewhere safe.
Check the xmltv file is getting downloaded properly. Look at the xmltv.xml file in that folder and use an online xml verifier to check it is legal xml.
Do various levels of Reset.
First Reset on Start, just once.
Then Settings\Reset Database.
If all else fails delete the whole folder and start again.

Anyway, I just migrated from Kodi Windows to Kodi on the Nvidia Shield. Mainly for the full 4k UHD capabilities, although it's nice to be able to access android apps through the Kodi interface too. Anyway everything works fine except when I go back from the full screen video to the epg, I lose the logos and description, as well as the background image. The video continues to play in the top right corner (Although the screenshot doesn't show it). This only happens on the Shield. On my Windows machines this doesn't happen. Screenshots show KJB skin, but it also happens on the stock skin. Thanx.

I have seen something similar happen with iVue, the work around with iVue is to switch off Media Codec Surface acceleration.

I don't have access to a Shield, may be worth you having a play with the acceleration settings if they are there.

I use PP with a paid sub as it plays some of the channels better than Kodi, without the Kodi hassles.

 As @Jeffers24 says it is probably the Media Codec Surface issue. Turn it off.

 I tried making TVGF as an Android Leanback app a couple of years ago and it was horrendous.
You can't even Stop a stream, only Pause it. It really is a bad platform to develop TV apps on.
They try to get you to do everything with a retarded 5 button remote control.
