MediaElch - MediaManager for Mac/Linux/Win (with music library scraping)
[EDIT]: read last comment!!

Tried it a second time; this time recording all the output. Somehow I made a mistake but for the life of me, I can't find out what I did wrong Sad

The error you get in your second post is because the "MediaElch" directory already exists Smile

The error in your first post is the important one. I forgot that "make install" needs to be executed by an administrator.
So, in your Terminal, go to the downloaded "MediaElch" directory and then to the "build" folder.
I don't know where you downloaded MediaElch to (the source code was downloaded by "git clone ..."), so change the following path accordingly.
bash:
cd /path/to/MediaElch/build
You then only have to executed following command (because you already build MediaElch. The only thing left is to install it):
bash:
sudo make install
(note that I added "sudo").

You can also send me a private message if you still run into problems :-)

Andre

Hello everyone,

just to keep you up to date on MediaElch:

Development
Daniel (Komet) has currently (and for the last few months) limited time due to his job. That's why he hasn't actively worked on MediaElch for a while now.
I've contacted Komet a while back and the project is not dead! I've been fixing bugs and adding some minor features for the last few months (mostly scrapers, crashes and documentation).

There is now:
  1. an official changelog: https://github.com/Komet/MediaElch/blob/...angelog.md
  2. better user documentation on GitHub: https://github.com/Komet/MediaElch#user-documentation
  3. a download section that provides nightlies to everyone (not only donators and not only Windows but macOS and Linux as well)
  4. build instructions: https://github.com/Komet/MediaElch/blob/master/Build.md
When will the next stable version be released?
There are some important issues that need to be taken care of first. See milestone 1: https://github.com/Komet/MediaElch/milestone/1
I can't say when I will have time to fix/implement them. But the current nightlies are pretty stable, so give them a try :-)

Miscellaneous
The old MediaElch forum (https://community.kvibes.de) has been taken down. That's why I will read and post here more often. :-)
So if you have any problems/bugs, you can post them on this forum. If you're sure that you found a bug or if you want to request a feature, you can also open an issue on GitHub: https://github.com/Komet/MediaElch/issues

Regards,
Andre

I haven't been able to search for additional artwork for months now.
I can scrape new movies and tv shows but if I click on one of the pictures to change or add too like in extra fanart I don't get any popup...
But it acts like I do... meaning if I click on the poster for example I don't see a popup with new poster choices. But I can't simply click on MediaElch either... I get the 'windows alert' sound like the new poster window is open. I have to hit 'escape' as if I was closing it before the ME window will give me access again.
This has been going on a while now... I just downloaded the latest version and still no luck.

Could you tell me what scraper you use for extra fanart, what movie you want to add extra fanart for and what Windows version you use?
Because for me it seems to work:

I'm not able to reproduce your mentioned behaviour for now. A step by step list of your actions would be appreciated, e.g.

 Hey Andre,

The Movie DB is set for my fanart as it is for most of my art. Fanart.tv for logo, clear art, disc art.
I'm running Windows7
It does this for all movies and tv shows.
I can do the initial scrape but can't make changes.

For example I
  • Opened MediaElch
  • Selected move 'Spiderman: Homecoming'
  • Scraped movie
  • It automatically downloaded metadata and images
I can save it and it's fine... but I'm stuck with what it gave me.
If I click 'any' image to change it I have my issue... same with trying to add extra fan art.

Am I the only one unable to get any feedback when scraping Music artists?  Is Universal Music Scraper broken again?  I've been using the latest builds for several issues now.

@huttdes Still can't reproduce this. I'll install Windows 7 in the next few days and test on it.
Are you using the advancedsettings.xml file?

@jasn Are you using the latest version available on GitHub? Because I can't reproduce this either. Could you give us all information in "About -> Developer"?
UniversalMusicScraper works at least for Rammstein and System of a Down on Windows 8.1. :-)

Yes, I have the advancedsettings.xml file for database on my NAS... been running it for years though.

archer96, thank you so much for keeping up the ME development Smile

Maybe you can have a look at a long time bug I'm facing with since the beginning of the elch and never got solved.

So I'm using ME on Windows and have setup my advancedsetting.xml to don't store the thumb URLs in my nfo files by setting 'writeThumbUrlsToNfo' to false.
For some reason this works for movies but for tv show episodes I still get the thumb url written to the episode nfo files.

I guess there are more important issues but maybe this can be solved by you Smile

@Maaarv You mean <thumb>...</thumb> in episode NFO files like "S01E01.nfo"? Yes, that wasn't filtered. Will be fixed by: https://github.com/Komet/MediaElch/pull/458

Update: Latest nightly has fixed this.
