For those who are curious, there is now 3D LUT support, experimental support for 10-bit passthrough via AdvancedSettings.xml and dithering for the conversion from 16-235 to 0-255. There was also a commit to the main branch a long time ago to improve the accuracy of the conversion to sRGB. I don't know if this commit impacts Windows.

You would probably have to use Pixel Shader rather than DXVA rendering to benefit from any of this. Most here might not be swayed to go back to VideoPlayer, but it has received some meaningful upgrades.
All good stuff, but, I cant see me ever moving away from Dsplayer with MadVR, even if I have to stick with the current version, as I'm almost 100% using it for viewing local content - video addons are simply a nice to have for me.
me too fella, just local and no pluggins, KODI DS and MADVR is still the best combination by far, not sure why favour has fallen away from this, nothing touches it.

'Download subtitles' is a function in MPC players, commonly used with madVR.  You can press 'D' on your keyboard or map it to your remote control.  You don't have to leave anything.  You also have the option of assigning any url you want.  Subscene is the default I think.  You don't even need a plugin.  Imo, this is user friendly although I never use it or KODIs'.  Let's face it, the fact is, snagging a subtitle within the KODI GUI or the player GUI isn't exactly optimal.  You get no preview.  You get no guarantee the ones that scroll by are what you desire - sub for foreign spoken language only for example.
I ask forgiveness for the offtopic but I don't see how one can add services to MPC (tried MPC-HC, which offers four of them, and MPC-BE which just offers OpenSubtitles, none offers Addic7ed which is my service of choice for TV stuff). Also, in Kodi you can define what languages to search for and the interface is reasonably user friendly, quickly allowing to download another subtitles file if the one you choose does not work (you also get the "synch" label, though, which easily lets you choose the correct one, when present). MPC interface is not 10 feet friendly (so not great for HTPC use, unless you have an hawk's sight), it does not save the subtitles (so if you interrupt your viewing you need to redownload the subs) and it actually "finds" subtitles only if they are in perfect synch (the ones Kodi labels with the synch icon), which is not so great, as often you just need to timeshift slightly to "fix" them.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first (usually it's enough to follow instructions in the second post).

So I was trying to play a 4K file tonight (non HDR - h265), and DSplayer refused to play it.
Plays fine under VideoPlayer though.

It gave me an error message saying it failed to play and to consult the log to find the cause.
Where do I find the log?

What is the format of the file? You should enable debugging and try again.

Thanks a lot for the amazing Kodi DSPlayer. It works perfect with Panasonic 4K HDR TV on Windows10 HTPC (core-i5-6600 + 8GB RAM + nVidia 1030)

I found a minor issue while playing 4K HDR TS files such as the samsung HDR demo videos. When playing those files, only Audio plays with no video. If I just remux the TS file to MKV container using mkvtoolnix, it plays perfectly. So the video and audio streams themselves are okay but the DSPlayer seems to have issues with TS container.

Sample Video:

Can you please advise what needs to be done here, or is it per design.

Just played it myself with no problems. Make sure Lav Video is set to DX11/D3D11 native and try again.

Although I'm not an realy active forum user, i've been a very happy kodi DSplayer user for a few years now and have been watching the forum regularly.

I just recently switched to kodi 18 leia beta 1 because of the estuary mod v2 skin and the netflix app but miss some dsplayer features pretty often.

I love how dsplayer with madvr allowes me to get my tv in sync with my movie by using custom resolutions because my old 8800gt wouldn't know 23.976 if you spelled it out to him. Without custom resolutions it would drop a frame every minute at least. with custom resolutions i can get it to stay in sync without frame drops for 3hours straight.
But buying a new graphics card would solve the isue as wel as my other pc has no trouble staying at 23.976 and wouldn't benefit from custom resolutions at all.

I love how dsplayer adds a subtitle menu with download button.

Combined with plexkodiconnect it allowes me to have a plex client with madvr. how awsome is that ^^.

and on top of all else i just like the control and pq it gives me

In the long run i could probably live with default kodi videoplayer but really hope this project continu's in some form or other.
Although i'm not a programmer, i whould love to add something to the project or at least cheer-on the hard working people here on the forums

Just wanted to show my appreciation for the project and show that the user base is still pretty much alive, and maybe even apologize for not showing this before.
I think kodi DSplayer is THE best video player ever created and whould be sad to see it forgotten.

yeah I think we all feel like that, if I could so the build myself i'd already be on it. I'll just continue using this build for as long as I can and then move back to stock KODI with an external player so I can still use MADVR, the burning heart of this player.

I wonder if there is a way we can properly organise a financial incentive for this, a crowd fund or something, not sure how this would work if we dont even have someone to do it. I, and I am sure others would happily pay decent money for this to be built and updated on a regular basis.

If that whould be possible i'd rather buy that then the plex pass i'm currently pondering about.

well the idea doesnt conflict with the second law of thermodynamics but its looking like getting a new build soon is about as likely as universal entropy decreasing.

Don't need it soon, just hope for "someday" ^^

The custom resolution created by madVR is at the driver level, so it benefits any media player in Windows.
