I've noticed that when using the dsplayer version only sometimes will it report the playback status, example if you pause a movie then play it it will report these events, try a second time and no pause/play event is passed on, try a 3rd time and it might work, it seems very random as to when it will or will not work.

I've noticed pressing stop or letting a video play until the end is always published fine.

For a test I installed the stock version of Kodi and all events are updated as expected. I thought since an external player is being used it might not work at all, but not sure why the randomness of it?

I set it up so long ago, that I forget exactly what the heck I did.. I probably have the tutorial saved somewhere..  But I use the Kodi Callbacks addon to adjust my lighting based on play/pause/resume/stop and it works pretty flawlessly in dsplayer..  I've been meaning to see if there's a newer, better way of doing it these days, since this is something I set up a few years ago..

I wanted to try out Kodi V18, so I set it up with external player and madvr, but lost the lighting function that I'm used to, so I ended up going back to Dsplayer..  Add me to the list of those praying that it gets updated... Big Grin
You could use EventGhost and have it send out the correct commands you require whenever you play the relevant buttons. That would require configuring EG for Kodi, but it's done once.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first (usually it's enough to follow instructions in the second post).

The newer way is via websockets (hass connecting to Kodi's web interface) which seems to work pretty well on a stock kodi installation.

Thanks for the callbacks addon idea, that got me searching for other addons.. Might see if this guy still works: https://github.com/owagner/kodi2mqtt

I'm afraid aracnoz won't jump to our help, this time. A very sad day for Windows Kodi users.

So what you are saying is that we won’t see any further update on kodi DSPlayer?

Did he say something to you?

No, he didn't.
I tried to get in touch with him, to no avail.

But I draw my conclusion from him not saying anything after Leia final arrived.
Last time he had disappeared but came back for Krypton. This time, only silence.
I'm definitely pessimistic about this.

I am also pessimistic, but he would have to ignore the fact that his thread has climbed to almost 2 million views without him. His download links are also still active.

I wouldn't underestimate the amount of work required to update DSPlayer to the newest 64-bit build of Kodi. If he did care, it would probably take some time and he is in no way indebted to this forum.

I would also assume he isn't checking the thread count daily. It is the kind of thing I would assume a retired or hobby developer would do in their spare time. I would doubt he would be in any hurry to put out a new build when the current one is working fine.

Windows Kodi still has to has some bugs that need to be fixed. I'm ready to move on, but I'd wait quite a while before assuming aracnoz has permanently given up on updating DSPlayer.

Does the latest DSPlayer build support inputstream (Amazon Prime & Netflix)?  I saw in the below URL that Kodi 17.6  (DSPlayer build) "Fixed inputstream.adaptive (x64)".  However, the posts I saw in this thread about InputStream sounds like DSPlayer doesnt support this yet.

Thanks in advance!

No, it doesn't work for me with YouTube.

Thanks.  Honestly, I didn't even know about the inputstream addon until yesterday.  I just enabled inputstream and disabled dsplayer (to NOT use it as the default player).  However, youtube still plays at 720p; even though the settings show "1080p live/720HD" as the max resolution for YouTube and Inputstream is set for max/all resolutions.  Is inputstream broken even when we disable DSPlayer?

It should work with the internal player. I find 720p YouTube upscaled with NGU Sharp looks better than native 1080p content.

I'm jumping in pretty late here, and have a couple of questions to get me started.  I also use the amazon addon, and I was wondering how I could setup DS Player to use the built in player for addons such like amazon.  I have also been trying with no luck to use various skins.  The problem I always run into is that everything seems to work for the most part but unless I configure kodi to play live TV on startup, selecting a channel from the guide or the channels OSD doesn't actually play the channel.  I can select a new channel, close kodi then reopen it and my last selected channel is playing.  I can also tune a channel using Yatze, and it plays.  As a matter of fact, once I get TV playing via one of those two methods I can change channels and everything works fine if that makes any sense.  This happens on every skin except estuary.  Any help is appreciated.

please log general KODI issues on the main KODI forum.

Thanks.

DSPlayer will play an Internet streams natively with LAV Splitter Source. But it can't use InputStream Adaptive, which the Amazon add-on uses.

The live TV issue is confusing. I don't know what elements of a skin would cause it to malfunction. What back-end are you using with DSPlayer?

I'm on serverwmc for my PVR.  It really depends on where in the skin I select a TV channel.  In the bello 6 skin for example I setup a widget on my home screen to display TV channels, and selecting those works.  I think I'm also having the same issues with addons (That don't use the input stream adaptive plugin).  The food network seemed to have worked fine in estuary but the video won't play in bello.  Its like it just doesn't bring the currently playing video into focus.  I have tried disabling old dependencies, uninstalling old skins, etc.  The only error I get is related to the skin helper service, and I'm looking into that right now.  For amazon I set things up to launch my video in a browser window for the time being and that works fine.  I just need to automate closing that window, and bringing kodi into focus.  Thanks for the help.
