Release Last Viewed/Played - List of the last movies, episodes and music played
There doesnt seem to be any settings for this, configure is red.

Edit
Didn't realise you had to go into another section to install it specifically, my apologies, I am new to added addons manually, entirely my fault I missed the last line of directions, I saw install from zip file and didnt read the next line.

Edit 2
nvm, found it under Videos not in the actual playlist section of Movies.

The Last Played monitors the Kodi Player, if an addon does not use the kodi player or uses tricks that causes kdi not to report it, there nothing I can do, sorry

In the beginning I submitted the addon to official repository, following all the published addon rules.

But the process was a bit hard and discritionary so I gave up.

I did this for myself and use it everyday, (how come this is not standard in Kodi?).
I dont make a penny from the time spent on this, it was refused? Fine.

Hi, For your information as I see you are new here.

Please post on the appropriate places, so subjects dont get mixed up.

If someone answers say thanks, because they are doing you a favour. If no one answers, that's life, and there's no reason to complain.

Regarding your previous post, as I've said before Last Played monitors the kodi Player, if an addon is compliant it will work. You don say how you're playing the files, or even what type of files, movies, shows, ...?

Yes, I m new here.

Can you guide me where to post that tread with subtitles ? I find it very usefull.

and with add on:

I use kodi player. I added as source ftp from my local network and local hdd from usb tv.
I play only from these 2 sources.
i ve installed  your add on.
i play: mp4, mkv, m2ts, ts, avi, mpeg.

It should work like this ?

What an exciting add-on!

Sadly, I haven't been able to get this to work with my NVIDIA SHIELD, and there doesn't seem to be any other people using Kodi on the SHIELD here.  Maybe there's a basic compatibility issue on just this particular platform.

I've got the latest version of the SHIELD OS and Kodi, I've installed the "Last Played" add-on (the only add-on I have) using the ZIP link in the OP of this thread, and have played several videos.

Here's what I get when I click through Kodi's menu system of "Add-ons > Video add-ons > Last Played"

Image

Should the recently-played videos be displayed instead of the highlighted ".."?

Thanks in advance, and sorry if I'm being thick.  I've spent an hour or two scouring this thread for clues.

Yes, the last movies and shows played should display there, to allow resume playing. I use it everyday.

I have no way to test with the nvidea. The played list is stored in a file inthe addon dir, maybe that os has particular permission that dont allow the file to created.

There is a setting to choose a location for that file. Usually is to placed it on a shared location, start playing on one devices, and continue on other.

Maybe choosing a different location for the last played file it will work with the nvidea shield.

Thank you!

I set the "played list path" to an external USB drive that should have open permissions. I watched a few more videos, but it still doesn't seem to be showing anything.

Is there an error log somewhere for this add-on?

On the addon setting you can activate the debug log. It will add to the kodi log traces of what is played and tracked.

Do you use another addon to play those videos? Try to play something from the kodi library without any addon.

I am using this add-on on my Nvidia Shield and it is working properly. I have not needed to use a custom path for it to work either. The default setting works.

Only options I have set up are:

Numebr of lines - 250
Single list - enabled
Show date - enabled
Show time - enabled

I have tested it by playing movies/tv shows directly from my library menu and it is properly saving them in the "last played" add-on.
I have also tested it by playing movies by going through Files -> share name -> clicking on the mkv movie file. The last played add-on is still correctly cataloguing them

Thanks for posting!  This helps eliminate many of the possible issues.  I'll put my settings to the same as yours.

I do have an unlocked bootloader, left over from when I had flashed a rooted development version.  I'm now back to a normal release, but my bootloader is still unlocked.  I would lose all my setup if I re-locked the bootloader, so I've avoided it.

Coincidentally my bootloader is also unlocked from a previous root. I have not bothered to re-root since updating from 7.1.
I use a 128GB SSD  as expanded storage through USB 3.0

Thanks! That's certainly a helpful bit of knowledge.

Except now I'm just totally lost, as we should have very similar setups.  I uninstalled and reinstalled Last Viewed, and it's still not working.  Did you install everything that was in the 5 star repo, or just the Last Viewed add-on?  I've tried some of the other included add-ons, hoping that would be the difference.  Still no local files I play in the native Kodi player show up.

I have yet to figure out how Kodi's log works.

The slick and simple interface of a black box device certainly becomes a liability once there's a problem.  I moved from trying to get a Windows 10 machine to reliably play UHD/HDR content, and thought just buying a SHIELD would make things easier.  It has not, as I'm constantly fighting to get a decent feature set, and to have my Unified Remote smoothly integrated.
